    Q
How much Drive XLR8 for a 40 gallon tank and Super B oil?
How many acres would this cover?
    A

In a 40 gallon tank you would add 64 oz of Drive XLR8 and 10 oz of methylated seed oil surfactant, and this should just about cover 1 acre. Keep in mind that it is most important to use the correct amount of product for the area you are treating, rather than an exact amount of water.

  • Asked by Ron from Modesto, Ca
    07/27/2017
    Q
Should I use Drive XLR8 or Turflon Esther for to treat oxalis?
I use XLR8 for crabgrass, and Turflon Ester for bermuda grass (it knocks it back, but doesn't kill it). I have a lot of oxalis and spotted spurge infesting my lawns. (They are a fescue blend of sod.) I am in central California, Modesto area. I don't want to buy another product if I don't have to. Which one would work best for spotted spurge and oxalis? XLR8 or Turflon Ester? Thanks for your help!
    A

Drive XLR8 is not labeled for either spurge or oxalis.  Turflon Ester will is labeled for oxalis but will not treat for spurge.  You may want to consider a product like Dismiss that will eradicate both types of weeds.

Right now in Memphis it is in the high 80s.
    A

To avoid any turf damage, Drive XLR8 should be applied when temperatures are between 65-85 degrees.  It would be best to apply in the early morning or in the evening so that the product has sufficient time to dry before temperatures get above this range.

  • Asked by Galen from Topeka, Ks
    07/20/2017
    Q
How much Drive XLR8 do I use, and how soon can I overseed with KY Bluegrass?
Mixing instructions call for 64 oz/acre of Drive & 1.5 Pints of surfactant. If I'm using a 60 gallon Femco sprayer, how much water do I add to this mixture? Also...... what time frame should I use for treating crabgrass before overseeding K31 Fescue?
    A

The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Drive XLR8 Herbicide is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 1.45 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 1.45 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.

For seeding, you can use Drive either prior to seeding with Ky Bluegrass or 28 days after emergence of the new grass seed.

    Q
Why cannot Non-Ionic Surfactant be use with Drive XLR8?
    A

You could use any non-ionic surfactant with Drive XLR8 Herbicide, however the manufacturer recommends to use a methylated seed oil (MSO) surfactant for best results with this active ingredient. Prime Source Duo Stick is an MSO surfactant that would work well with this herbicide.

  • Asked by David from Lexington, Nc
    05/12/2017
    Q
Can I put the 63 oz Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer in a 25 gallon sprayer and distribute over 1 acre without refilling?
I have a 25 gallon tow behind sprayer that can adjust to distribute the 25 gallons on 1 acre or 43,500 square feet. The instructions for Drive indicate 1.45 oz per 1000 sf which would be 63 oz for the full acre in 43.5 gallons of water. If I put the full 63 oz in the 25 gallon sprayer, it would be the equivalent of 2.5 oz of Drive per gallon.
    A

Yes, you can use 63 oz of Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer in 20 gallons of water to cover 1 acre and not need to refil your tank. That is how the product label states to use.

    Q
How soon to seed after using Drive XLR8?
I applied weed and feed to my lawn 3 weeks ago. I applied Drive XLR8 to my Bermuda lawn yesterday. How long should I wait to aerate and seed?
    A

There is no time restriction for seeding bermudagrass after applying Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer per the product label.  It can take 6 weeks to kill weeds so it would be recommended to wait that long to aerate so the weeds can absorb the product fully.

    Q
Can Drive XLR8 be tank mixed with Resolute 65 WG?
I live in south central Kansas and have 3 acres of 'Bowie' buffalo grass. It was planted 2 years ago. We are having problems with grassy weed(crab grass & foxtail), clover, bindweed, etc..... due to rain I haven't been able to get a pre emergent down yet and thanks for the super early warm temps I am seeing the many of the early spring weeds come out already. I would like put both down at the same time if possible. I have a 30 gal sprayer that I pull behind the mower. Any other suggestions for weed control would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
    A

Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer could be mixed with Resolute 65 WDG as long as you follow the instructions on both product labels.  However, if you are already seeing weeds it is too late for any pre-emergent to be effective.
