Turflon Ester Ultra is a specialty herbicide formulated with Triclopyr for post-emergent control of a wide variety of annual and perennial broadleaf weeds, and kikuyugrass in tall fescue, perennial ryegrass, and perennial bluegrass. Turflon Ester Ultra is made with a non-petroleum methylated seed oil (MSO) solvent for a reduced environmental impact, better performance, and reduced odor. The absence of any petroleum distillates helps to reduce the emission of VOC's (volatile organic compounds) into the atmosphere.
Turflon Ester Ultra is also labeled for use in the suppression of Bermudagrass when overseeding with perennial ryegrass in the states of Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.
This product is available in a gallon size, the 2.5 gallon has been discontinued.

Broadcast Treatment of Ornamental Turf Apply foliage sprays during warm weather, early spring through fall, when weeds are actively growing. Apply 1/2 to 1 quart of TurfionflEsterflUltra per acre in enough water to control broadleaf weeds actively growing in perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, or tall fescue. Only emerged weeds present at the time of application will be controlled. Apply using equipment that assures uniform coverage of the target area. When treating mature plants or hard to control species, and for applications made during drought conditions, use the higher rates of TurfionflEsterflUltra.
Spot Treatment of Ornamental Turf
Mix 3/8 to 3/4 fi oz of TurfionflEsterflUltra per 1000 sq ft in enough water to provide uniform coverage of the target area. Apply at any time broadleaf weeds are susceptible.
Control of Kikuyugrass
Apply TurfionflEsterflUltra at a rate of 1/2 to 1 quart per acre. To improve activity, MSMA herbicide may be tank mixed with the 1/2 quart per acre rate of TurfionflEsterflUltra. Three to 4 additional applications at 4- to 6-week intervals may be required to achieve control of kikuyugrass.
Control of Bermudagrass
Apply TurfionflEsterflUltra at the rate of 1 quart per acre. Three to 4 additional applications at 4-week intervals are required for adequate suppression of Bermudagrass and allow fescue or other desired turfgrass species to dominate. To improve suppression and control of Bermudagrass, tank mix 1 quart of TurfionflEsterflUltra per acre with a post-emergence grass herbicide registered for this use pattern. Three to 4 additional applications of this tank mix at 4-week intervals should be made to achieve control. Reseeding following application will accelerate the transition to cool season turf.

The good, it is great on retarding growth/ or killing stuff that invades turf grass. Supplier is fast to fill and ship order. I will definitely order again from this supplier. The bad, mix no more than recommended, apply at outside temperatures within limits. A little pricey, but good stuff. Would have been 5 stars due to price, still lowest price found.

Early results very promising

I'm giving 4 stars now and reserve the right to upgrade based on long term results. I've been fighting bermuda patches in 5 acres of tall fescue for years. The selective products for bermuda control are extremely limited, expensive, and in my case not highly effective. It seems like I'm taking one step forward and two backward. My previous strategy was to wait until the temps cooled and the bermuda was starting to go into dormancy to spray. After reading some publications from some leading universities turf grass programs, they recommended attacking the bermuda while it's still actively growing. The recommendations were to spray a cocktail of Turflon Ester Ultra (32oz/acre) tank mixed with Fusilade II (6oz/acre) with a surfactant and repeat application 2 or 3 times at 30 day intervals. After just 3 days post spraying, I'm seeing the bermuda already starting to discolor, which I find very promising. I'm sure it's the spray since we haven't had temps low enough to drive it into dormancy yet. My advice is if you have bermuda in a cool season variety lawn, attack it early and often. It's very invasive and will spiral out of control quickly. I also recommend the cocktail I mentioned earlier.

Per the product label for spot treating Turflon Ester Ultra, there is not a set rate per amount of water so we are unable to provide per a quart of water. You would mix 3/8 to 3/4 fl oz per 1000 sq ft in enough water to provide uniform coverage of the target area.

Any recommendations to add for quicker kill to the tank mix that isn't Roundup.
Turflon Ester Ultra must be applied at a rate of 1/2 to to 1 quart per acre to control kikuyu grass. You may also use it at .37-.73oz per 1,000 square feet in a gallon of water if that gallon covers 1,000 square feet. Otherwise, you would need to calibrate your sprayer. Three to four additional applications at 4 to 6 weeks intervals may be required to achieve control of the kikuyu grass.
