    Q
Can Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer be used by itself or is an additional product recommended to tank mix with it?
    A

It is recommended to use a Methylated Seed Oil Surfactant like Duo Stick with Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer for best results. This helps the herbicide stick to the weed surfaces for better adhesion and faster burn down.

    Q
Trying to kill bindweed in field but will Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer damage or kill alfalfa?
    A

Drive XLR8 herbicide is not labeled for use on alfalfa so it will likely kill it. Instead, you may use a non selective product such as AXXE Broad Spectrum Herbicide while the alfalfa is dormant. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions.

    Q
Will Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer kill panic veldtgrass?
    A

Drive XLR8 is not labeled to treat panic veldt grass.  Using a glyphosate product (Roundup) applied as a foliar spray at 2 percent concentration with added surfactant was shown to be effective against Panic-Veldt. Using a product like Roundup QuickPRO will give you both treatments in one. QuickPRO has two active ingredients: 73.3% glyphosate and 2.9% diquat. The addition of diquat, along with the surfactant, gives you even faster burndown. It controls broadleaf and grass weeds, or woody brush and trees - roots and all.

Using a chemical method along with chemical treatment, will help with control unless you are able to to identify where this weeds originates. Regardless of the method used, more than one year of treatment will be necessary, due to its extensive seedbank, the persistence of which is unknown. Q
Can Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer be tank mixed with Bifen IT along with the Duo Stick Methylated Seed Oil Surfactant that is recommended with Drive for one application?
    A

Drive XLR8 is for turfgrass areas only and cannot be used on ornamentals, flowers, or landscape beds where Bifen IT is also labeled for lawns but also commonly applied to treat insects as a foliar spray to bushes, trees, shrubs, etc. Be mindful that you are only applying your herbicide in the correct areas.

Herbicides and insecticides can be tank mixed together in a tank mix as long as there are no tank mixing restrictions on the product label for the other product that you are using. We recommend performing a small jar test for compatibility any time you are using two new products together for the first time.

Please view our Tank Mixing Herbicide Video showing how to do a “Jar Test”.

    Q
How long does it take to see results using Drive XLR8 along with surfactant to treat crabgrass?
Treating an area of 500 sq ft. Applied 1 gallon of mixed solution of 2 fl oz of Drive XLR8 with 1 fl oz of surfactant and used the entire gallon of mixture over the 500 sq ft area. It's been 4 days and only seeing some of the good grass turning brown and no effects on the crabgrass. How long should I wait to see results. Watered the grass yesterday, 3 days after the application.
    A

Drive XLR8 can take up to 3 weeks to see full results on targeted weeds and a second appliation may be needed for more established weeds. Keep in mind, for best results, applications should be applied to listed weeds when they are young and actively growing and temperatures are between 65-85 degrees. For actively growing crabgrass, Drive XLR8 is mixed at 1.45 fl oz per 1000 sq ft along with adding 0.16 - 0.48 fl. oz Duo Stick per gallon of water. If only treating 500 sq ft, you would cut those rates in half, mixing Drive XLR8 at 0.72 fl oz in one gallon of water along with the 0.16 to 0.48 fl oz of Duo Stick Surfactant.

It is important to follow the recommended rates per the product label and not overmix or overtreat to avoid burning or injury to your turfgrass. You may see some discoloration, burning or wilting of your turfgrass as the rate applied of 2 fl oz Drive + 1 fl oz Surfactant over 500 sq ft is double the labeled rate.

    Q
Applied Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer to kill actively growing crabgrass which it did great. Now I have new crabgrass growing through the dead crabgrass, what do I need to do?
    A

Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer is only a post emergent herbicide and will only kill actively growing weeds. To prevent new crabgrass from germinating, a pre-emergent needs to be applied when soil temperatures are around 55 degrees.

Dimension 2EW is one of the most successful pre-emergents for crabgrass prevention.

    Q
How soon after applying Drive XLR8 can I apply Gordon's Lawn and Pasture fertilizer 20-0-0 Liquid Fertilizer?
Last thing I want to do is to green up the crab grass I'm trying to kill.
    A

We typically recommend waiting atleast 24 hours up to 7 days in between applying herbicides and fertilizers to avoid overstressing the turfgrass unless previous applications have shown tolerance to using a fertilizer and herbicide together.

The Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer does advise that a liquid nitrogen fertilizer can cause some yellowing therefore a small test application would be recommended if deciding to tank mix.

Please review the product label for tank mixing instructions prior to mixing in your sprayer.

    Q
Can Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer be used on lawns if we have a well used for drinking water?
    A
Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer can be used on lawns with wells used for drinking water however in areas where the water table is shallow, there is a risk of groundwater contamination. Q
How soon after applying Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer can I fertilize?
    A

There is not a specific amount of time you need to wait to apply your fertilizer after applying Drive XLR8 Herbicide. Since Drive works best when it has at least 24 hours to dry after application, then waiting at least 1 day before watering or applying a liquid fertilizer would be advantageous.
