    Q
    Can I re-apply Drive XLR8/DyneAmic
14 days after the 1st application to spots I missed plus to spots I did not miss that don't seem to be responding? Or should I wait the full 3 weeks. After 3 weeks is a 2nd application recommended?
    A
You could potentially reapply Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer at a 14-day interval as long as you are treating established turfgrass and the turf is not otherwise stressed. Typically, you will need at least 14 days to start seeing the full results of an application of this product. Be sure that you are using a methylated seed oil surfactant such as Duo Stick for best results.

    Popup Rain Shower After Application
I applied today when there was no rain in the forecast for several days. Later in the day after application, a storm popped up. Do I need to reapply?
    A

Drive XLR8 Herbicide should be applied where there is no rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours. Depending on how long after applying and how much rain you received, you may need to reapply again.

    Q
Can a broadleaf weed killer like TZone be tank mixed with Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer to kill creeping charlie and other weeds?
    A

As long as both products do not contain the same active ingredient, and both have labels that allow tank mixing in general then you should be able to. Per the Drive label: The most restrictive labeling applies with any tank mix.

To increase spectrum of control of broadleaf and other weeds, Drive XLR8 may be tank mixed with 2,4-D, Triclopyr, and other broadleaf herbicides. Make sure to do a tank mix test first for any clumping or discoloring before applying to the lawn.

Please note: Drive XLR8 requires the use of a methylated seed oil surfactant for best results. Since most broadleaf weeds killers do not require the use of a surfactant and the use of a surfactant can reduce selectivity on tolerant turfgrasses causing injury to the lawn.

If tank mixing, we recommend doing a small test spot spray application to target weeds to test for any discoloration or injury before broadcasting over the entire lawn area.

    Q
Can this be mixed with Acclaim Extra for increased potency?
So basically two questions, can it be mixed with Acclaim Extra and if so, would this be expected to provide additional potency or is it just a waste of money because it's redundant?
    A
We do not recommend mixing Drive XLR8 with Acclaim Extra Herbicide since those products require the use of different surfactants. You can use a non-ionic surfactant with Acclaim Extra, but you should use a methylated seed oil (MSO) surfactant with Drive for best results. Using the MSO with Acclaim Extra may be too harsh and cause damage to your desirable turfgrass, so we recommend applying those products separately for best results.

    Q
Is it safe to mix Drive XLR8, Triplet SF Selective Herbicide & Battleship 3 together?
    https://www.domyown.com/triplet-sf-selective-herbicide-p-21107.html
    A

We would not recommend tank mixing Triplet or Battleship with Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer.

Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer requires the use of a methylated seed soil surfactant to effectively kill actively growing weeds. The Triplet Selective Herbicide and Battleship 3 do not recommend the use of a surfactant therefore tank mixing these 3 together could damage your turfgrass.

    Q
Can I mix 1 gallon of mixed solution of Drive XLR8 & Dyne-Amic Surfactant and then refill my 32 oz sprayer 4 times to treat heavy crabgrass in 1/2 of a 2k sq ft lawn?
    A

In order to ensure you are using a sufficient volume of water, you will want to use a 1-2 gallon hand pump sprayer to apply the mixed solution of Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer (1.45 oz per 1000 sq ft) and the 2 teaspoons of DyneAmic Surfactant

Water is acting as the carrier therefore you want to be sure you are using enough water to evenly and thoroughly cover 1000 sq ft.

    Q
Is Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer safe for Kentucky Bluegrass at the rate of 1.45 oz per gallon of water?
I applied the product at 1.45 Oz per gallon of water on Kentucky Blue Grass but I see that the grass is all yellow. I didn't see it listed on the booklet, whence my question, I hope you can help me out.
    A

Drive XLR8 Herbicide can safely be used on your Kentucky Bluegrass if applied as directed per the product label. Be sure you are using sufficient volumes of water to evenly spray the 1.45 oz of Drive over 1000 sq ft.

The product label does advise in the footnotes below Table 1 on page 8 that “Yellowing that occurs on these species can be reduced by the addition of chelated iron or sprayable soluble nitrogen fertilizer.”

  • Asked by Joe from Salisbury, Nc
    07/24/2022
    Q
Can Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer be used between overnight lows of 70 and daytime highs in the 90s for a prolonged period?
    A

To avoid any turf damage, Drive XLR8 should be applied when temperatures are between 65-85 degrees. It would be best to apply in the early morning or in the evening when temperatures are at their lowest so that the product has sufficient time to dry before temperatures get above this range. If temperatures are above 85 degrees, you should wait to apply the product when temperatures are lower. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions before use.

  • Asked by Dan from Muskegon, Michigan

    Q
If it briefly rained within a couple hours of applying Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer, do I need to reapply?
I live in Western Michigan and did a spot application for crabgrass but did not use a surfactant.
    A

Drive XLR8 is rain fast within just an hour or so, so if you had several hours between application and when the rain occurred you should be good to go without need for reapplication. You will however need a surfactant mixed in if you want to see control over the crabgrass, so on your follow up applications you need to add about 2 tsp of a MSO type surfactant, such as Duo Stick.

    Q
Is a flat or cone spray pattern better when applying Drive XLR8?
    A
You could use either a fan spray or cone spray when using an herbicide such as Drive XLR8. You may consider adding a spray indicator dye such as Turf Mark Blue to make sure you are getting good coverage and not over-applying your herbicides.

  • Asked by David from Fort Collins, Co
    06/29/2022
    Q
After an application, when is it safe to again use grass clippings as a mulch?
The manufacturer says "Do not use clippings as mulch or compost around flowers, ornamentals, trees, or in vegetable gardens" After an application, when is it safe to again use grass clippings as a mulch?
    A
When using Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer the active ingredient quinclorac has dissipation values that can range from 60 to over 500 days. Because quinclorac does not bind well to soil, some dissipation noted in field testing could be due to chemical testing. The persistence hazard of quinclorac is rated high (likely to take over 60 days to degrade to half of the applied concentration). We would recommend waiting an entire season before using any grass clippings as mulch.

  • Asked by Lou from Southern Il
    06/25/2022
    Q
Can Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer be applied to a recently (2 months) seeded and strawed tall fescue lawn?
Tall fescue planted and not thriving in many areas of the 1 acre lot
    A

Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer should only be applied to fully established turf grass, and used as directed on the manufacturer's product label. Generally, a lawn is considered to be fully established after it has been mowed at least three times.

If you have not had a soil analysis done on the lawn, we would recommended doing one to determine what nutrients your lawn has or may need. This can help with establishing new turfgrass and overall lawn health.

Please view our Soil Test Kits or contact your County Extension Office for assistance with a soil analysis.

    A
No, you cannot apply Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer around your holly trees or other desirable ornamental plants such as shrubs, flowers, or trees since it could damage or kill them. You could use a grass killer such as Ferti-lome Over-the-Top II Grass Killer, which is labeled for use over the top of many kinds of holly plants.
