The most popular spider control product for use around water is Essentria IC3, because it is effective for spiders, kills most other insects (eliminating the spider's prey which will help keep new spiders from moving back into the area) and it safe to use around water. Most other insecticides are prohibited near the water because of the risk of contaminating the water and harming aquatic animals. You will need to repeat the application once a month through the warm season.
You can also help by creating a "tick safe zone" in your yard. You should have an area that is at least 9 ft wide between your yard and any wooded area. Trim back trees to allow as much sunlight as possible into your yard. Keep grass as short as possible. Remove as much leaf litter as possible. A clearly defined, well manicured border between your yard and any wooded areas or weedy lots will reduce the chance of ticks infesting your yard.
You could potentially add 1-2 oz of the Essentria IC3 to a gallon of Talstar P dilution for extra knockdown of target pests. However, these insecticides cover pretty much the same target pests, so most customers will not use both at the same time. Essentria IC3 is safe to use in more areas, than Talstar P, such as near boat docks or bodies of water, while Talstar P will have a longer residual than Essentria.
You could use a natural product such as Essentria IC3 for fire ant mound treatments. This product is safe to use around aquatic life and other wildlife, although we still would not recommend spraying directly on top of or into the pond. Please refer to page 3 of the product label for instructions on treating fire ants with IC3.
