    Q
Can ExciteR be applied to clothing as a repellent?
The active ingredient in Sawyer's insect repellent is permethrin. According to my exterminator, he stated that this product could be used as a better repellent for ticks/mosquitoes on hunting clothing. Can this be used in such a fashion?
    A

ExciteR Insecticide cannot be applied to clothing. We do sell Repel which is labeled to be applied to clothing.

    Q
Are ExciteR and Archer IGR close to the same product?
    A
ExciteR and Archer IGR are not the same type of product. ExciteR is a
concentrate contains 6% pyrethrins and can be used alone in a fogger or pump sprayer, or as an additive to other insecticides such as malathion, permethrin or cypermethrin for a faster knock-down of insect pests. Archer IGR offers no killing power for the insect. It will impede the reproductive cycle of the insect.  An IGR is a form of “birth control” for pests which helps keep the populations of unwanted pests under control by preventing current and future infestations. They can both be mixed together with a professional strength inseciticide concentrate.

    Q
Will ExcitetR kill stink bugs on tomato plants?
I've always had trouble with stink bugs ruining my tomatoes before I can enjoy them. I've tried everything short of a .22 rifle with no success. I can't afford to spend money on something expensive unless I can feel reasonably sure that it will work.
    A
No, Exciter cannot be used on any edible vegetation. We do carry Acephate 75SP, Cyonara Lawn and Garden and Malathion 57%, each of which can be used on different fruits and vegetables. Malathion has the broadest label and is our most popular product for customers that need to treat fruit and vegetable plants. Always read the product label to be sure the plants you need to treat are listed. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to seek advice on the best products for plants and insects in your region.

  • Asked by Maryann

    Q
Will ExiteR kill fleas outside and in the home?
    A
ExciteR is labeled to use for fleas indoors and outdoors. You should note that ExciteR will only kill fleas that make direct contact with the product while it is wet, after ExciteR is dry it will not leave an active residual behind. We recommend you try our Outdoor Flea Kit. The Outdoor Flea kit contains Onslaught which is an insecticide and Martins IGR which is an insects growth regulator (think birth control for fleas). These products can be mixed into the same gallon of water and applied indoors and outdoors. It is very important to vacuum immediately before the indoor application and everyday to every other day for the following 14 days. After 14 days a repeat application may be needed for complete control. You can also mix ExciteR into the dilution for a faster knockdown of the adult fleas.

  • Asked by Raul from San Antonio, Tx

    Q
Does ExciteR have an odor? And how much to mix with Talstar for roaches?
    A
Like the Talstar, the ExciteR does not have a distinguishable odor and will also dry clear. The ExciteR would be mixed at the rate of 1/2 ounce per gallon of water with 1 ounce of the Talstar. When spraying for roaches you may want to highly consider using an IGR-insect birth contro- to make sure the roaches are not reproducing faster than you can kill them. One of our best IGR's for roaches is the Gentrol IGR. You can mix 1 ounce of this in the same gallon of water as the Talstar and ExciteR and it will last on the surface for roughly 3 months making sure any roach that comes into contact with it can not reproduce.

  • Asked by Trevor from San Diego, Ca
    10/12/2011
    Q
What is the application rate, and can I add this directly to my nutrient water for my plants feed?
Looking for something to add to my hydroponic grow system to keep springtails & fungus gnats at bay
    A
Exciter is not labeled to be used in any type of irrigation system and it is not labeled for springtails. Without knowing what type of plants you are growing we do not know what type of product to recommend for your use. We recommend you call your local cooperative extension office and speak directly with the master gardener on staff. Master gardeners are experts on the plants and insects in your region and they can usually recommend the best product for your needs.

    Q
Will Exciter mixed with Onslaught work as preventative for bedbugs and roaches?
    A
So far, nothing seems to work as an effective preventative for bedbugs. Recently, bedbug monitoring systems have become available, which can help with early detection. The Catchmaster BDS (Bedbug Detection System) is a patented device designed to detect bed bugs. BDS is a passive monitoring device that provides what would be considered a perfect harborage area for bed bugs and when they enter the trap, they become stuck. Onslaught will do a great job for roach control. Exciter should be added when you have a current infestation.

  • Asked by Denice from Edmond, Oklahoma

    Q
Can I use Exciter for eliminating scorpions inside my house? I have had the granules placed around the house.
    A
If you choose to use Exciter for scorpion control you will need to make sure that you apply Exciter directly to the scorpions for the product to be effective. Exciter contains the active ingredient pyrethrins and pyrethrins is only effective when the product makes direct contact with the pest in question and will not leave behind an active residual. Most people choose to use a product such as Cy-Kick CS for indoor scorpion control. There are several products that would do an awesome job controlling scorpions. Cy-Kick CS is a favorite among professional pest control operators and home owners. Cy-Kick CS is a micro-encapsulated product. This means that the particles of the active ingredient are contained in tiny micro-capsules, the insect walks onto the treated surface and picks up the capsules on their bodies and then the micro capsules slowly dry out and crack and the active ingredient oozes out on the insect. These micro capsules make the Cy-Kick last for up to 90 days and also make it safer to use around pets and people.

    Q
Can ExciteR Insecticide be used on a wood pile?
I have a wood pile that has carpenter ants, spiders and beetles in the wood. Can this be added to a thermal fogger and then applied to the wood pile? Is it safe to burn the wood 6 months from now in my wood burning stove inside my house?
    A

We do not recommend to apply any liquids to a wood pile  you intend to burn. You can apply granules like Niban around the exterior of the wood pile. This product will treat for ants, roachs, and many other insects.

  • Asked by Karima from Bergen, Nj
    06/02/2016
    Q
How long does ExciteR Insecticide last indoor and outdoor?
    A

ExciteR will offer a fast knockdown of the insects present at the time of the application but it will not leave a long lasting residual. You may want to consider mixing ExciteR with an insecticide like Talstar to have a fast knockdown of the insects present and a lasting residual to help control the new insects that come into the area.

  • Asked by Rickey from Chicago, Il

    Q
How long does it take for the ExciteR Insecticide to dry?
    A

ExciteR Insecticide is designed as a contact kill and is active when it is wet. Once the application is dry, usually about 30 min to an hour, there will very little residual effect, if any. Since this is a contact and flushing agent, you would use ExciteR as needed, and the best reapplication timing will depend on what pest you are treating.

    Q
What can I use for a quick knockdown power to mix with Demon WP and an IGR for German roaches?
    A

You could mix Exciter with Demon WP and an IGR (that is labeled for roaches) for a quick knockdown. We do recommend that you apply a roach bait in areas that you are not spraying. Please read the following articles on roach control for helpful tips.
