    Q
Can I use FenvaStar to treat the carpet for bed bug nymphs?
I'm currently living in an apartment complex and both apartments next to mine to the right and left of me are infested. The tenants are bug bombing and they are now coming through the drain pipes and fenvastar is working great to kill them there. I did a perimeter spray with FenvaStar, but I want to know if I can also treat the carpet? Not saturating it of couse due to the water but a light misting?
    A
There really is no need to treat the whole carpet with Fenvastar for bedbugs. If the bedbugs do move through the walls into your apartment they will pass through the product that you applied around the perimeter and be killed. If you feel you must spray the carpets Fenvastar is labeled to be used as a broadcast spray over carpeted areas.

    Q
Is the FenvaStar EcoCap safe for mattresses?
Can you lightly spray a mattress and then cover with a bedbug cover?
    A
FenvaStar Eco Cap is not labeled to be sprayed on mattresses. Instead you should consider using Bedlam or Bedlam plus as they are both labeled specifically for this type of application.

    Q
Does this product leave a residual? How long will that last for bedbugs?
    A

FenvaStar EcoCap has a 30 day outdoor residual and 90 day indoor residual for most insect treatments. For bedbugs, we recommend treating weekly along with other products in our Bedbug Control Kits, heat, and vacuuming. I have included a couple of links to bedbug treatment articles for additional information.

    Q
Does FenvaStar EcoCap have a residual kill effect on bed bugs?
Is it safe to apply using a smaller handheld spray bottle?
    A
Fenvastar EcoCap does have a residual but when treating bedbugs you will reapply every 2 weeks using a standard pump sprayer.  We do not recommend that you use a regular squirt bottle for Fenvastar EcoCap applications because the application will not be even.

    Q
Is it okay to mix FenvaStar with Gentrol?
I assume that FevaStar can be mixed with Gentrol as Temprid, but wanted to inquire prior to doing so. Appreciate your help. Also, do you find that alternatating chemical sprays can prevent the insects builidng a tolerance to one chemical?
    A
Yes it is absolutely fine to mix Gentrol with the FenvaStar, Temprid, and any other insecticide on the market. IGR's are specifically designed to be safely mixed with concentrates without causing any effect to the product being used. Yes, alternating sprays every couple of months will help you prevent a resistance but just changing the name of the chemical is not the key. You must change the type of ingredient being used, example: Suspend SC contains Deltamethrin, Talstar P contains Bifenthrin, and Demon WP contains Cypermethrin. While all the products are different names, and the active ingredients are different, all of the active ingredients fall into the Pyrethroid category of type of chemical base. In order to prevent a resistence, you would need to find a product that you alternate with any of those that is not a pyrethroid.

  • Asked by Carol from Santa Cruz, Ca

    Q
Is FenvaStar good for flea infestations? Our infestation is really bad so can we use this on the carpets.
Is it safe to use around cats?
    A
FenvaStar Eco Cap is labeled to be applied on flooring including carpets for flea treatments and should be mixed with Precor IGR (insect growth regulator). It is safe for pets if they are not in the area during treatment and they can return once the surfaces have completely dried. You will mix one ounce of FenvaStar Eco Cap and one ounce of Precor IGR to one gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. You should vacuum prior to the application and daily for two weeks. You will need to reapply the products two weeks after your initial application and vacuum daily for an additional two weeks. It takes a minimum of two indoor treatments but sometimes may require a third and fourth cylce of treatment based on the level of fleas. After vacuuming each day, empty the canister (if bagless) in a trash bag outside the home. If bagged, replace with a new bag each day.

  • Asked by Sheri from San Diego, California

    Q
What are the differences between FenvaStar EcoCap and Temprid FX for BBs? I am concerned about toxicity.
I am confused as to the difference between FenvaStar EcoCap and Temprid FX for bed bug eradication. I am concerned about toxicity which is why I initially went the diatomaceous earth route (along with steaming, vacuuming, constant laundering, mattress/boxspring encasement, etc., etc.) I estimate I have seen no more than ten adults at the very beginning five months ago, but am still getting bitten. I had high hopes with the DE and know that it has been effective in keeping a massive infestation from blossoming and BB population explosion, but clearly I must employ more toxic measures. I recently purchased Gentrol and Steri-Fab from you, but in reading reviews on your site, I think I need to add at least one more component to the DE, Gentrol, Steri-fab program. Again, I'm trying to minimize poisons/toxins. My impression is that FenvaStar EcoCap is as effective as Temprid FX, but less toxic to people and animals, also requires less time away from the treated area before being able to return. This business of pest control is extraordinarily complex especially when it comes to bed bugs and limited financial resources. I am most fortunate, however, to have found your site. Your extensive catalog and knowledge, great prices, and prompt shipping go a long way in helping me feel hopeful. Anyway, as to the pros/cons between FenvaSter EcoCap and Temprid FX, will you please explain and, perhaps, recommend? THANK YOU!
    A

FenvaStar EcoCap and Temprid FX are similar but not the same. The biggest difference is that Temprid FX has two active ingredients for extra control and to help prevent resistance issues. These product have very similar labeling as far as where and how often they can be applied for bed bug control. A great product to use if you are concerned about toxicity would be Crossfire Bed Bug Concentrate. This is a new product with multiple active ingredients, a broader label, very long residual, and no signal word (caution, danger, etc.). Crossfire also has new active ingredients, so there is no risk of resistance. Please take a few moments to review our Bed Bug Treatment Guide for more tips on eradicating this pest.

    Q
Where can FenvaStar EcoCap be applied?
Can you apply this chemical to concrete floors outside and the basement floors for control of fleas? It would be a mist from my sprayer tip.
    A
FenvaStar EcoCap can be used on concrete floors outdoors as well as basement floors. This product should be sprayed were pests are seen. We would also recommend mixing Martins IGR (insect growth regulator) with the insecticide as well. This stops the fleas from reproducing. You will only use the IGR for the first treatment. A second treatment should be done as well 14 days later. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
My neighbor has carpenter bees should I use fenvastar.. For prevention?
She said last year they made a nest... Will this product leave stains on my untreated wood? What will it look like on the wood. Like a thin layer of oil and will there be an odor...
    A
The FenvaStar EcoCap woud be a great product to use along eaves and edges of the home where the carpenter bees would try to land to bore into your home. It always helps to be proactive in a situation like that where you know having some at your home is a risk if your neighbors have them. The Fenvastar will dry competely clear and leave no stain or visible residue on the wood or surfaces it is sprayed on.

    Q
What is the strongest mosquito killer I can use on Long Island NY for my home?
I wanted to buy Talstar, but upon checkout I realized it was not for sale in New York. So which is?
    A
A great product for use in NY that is similar in effectiveness to the Talstar would be the FenvaStar EcoCap. It is diluted 1oz per gallon of water and can be sprayed on bushes, trees, lawns and other areas prime for mosquitoes to breed and harbor. You will likely want to spray every 30 days or so to keep them at bay during the months when they are most prevalent.

  • Asked by Joseph from Ma
    07/16/2014
    Q
Is FenvaStar EcoCap good for roaches? I have a multi unit building w/ 3 apartments.
So far I've been bombing and using Gentrol disks in strategic places. I'm going to tank mix FenvaStar with an IGR also and spot and crevice spray too. This is a big problem I think, one apt is vacant and the first time I bombed there were 50-60 dead ones and about a dozen or so live ones. Ive bombed two days straight after that and still had about a dozen dead ones and half dozen live ones each time. Now I'm going to lay off the bombs and just spray and let the iIGR work a bit. I'm also going to put bait gels around too. Do you think my problem is big enough to warrant more extreme measures like drilling stud bay holes and dusting in the walls or something else possibly?
    A
FenvaStar EcoCap is labeled for roaches and should be tank mixed with an IGR such as Gentrol. We do also recommend applying a professional bait gel in areas where you are not spraying or dusting. Dusting the wall voids is also a great option for better control.
