What is the best way to dispose of the fly trap without nasty liquid & flies spilling?
I like the way liquid traps get the flies but have always been at a loss as to how best to dispose of them where we won't have "stinky juice" all over everything in trash can etc. Putting in plastic bags helps a little but they often leak as well.There was a trap, which I can't find any longer, that had a top that would screw/snap back down to seal the bag and its contents. Advice would be appreciated !

The manufacturer says to just place the trap in a plastic bag and dispose of it in the trash can. We agree with you that depending on the bag you place it in, leaking is a possibility. Most of us at the office use this product at our own homes. We place the trap in a gallon size Ziploc bag and then place that in a grocery plastic bag and dispose of the trap in the trash.

Maggots are forming in the Flies-Be-Gone fly trap and the flies do not seem to be drowning, is the trap working
and the flies aren't sinking, so new flies entering don't drown. Any tips to handle these 2 situations??

It means you have captured female flies that were ready to lay eggs, eggs that if laid outisde the bag would produce more flies that could potentially contaminate your food, infest your home or drive you crazy by buzzing by your face over and over. And you needn't worry about whether or not the flies are drowning, once they are in the trap they cannot get out and will eventually die.

What is the purpose of putting a "drop" of topsoil in the fly trap when it is set up?
I don't have real topsoil, only a reddish clay dirt, I just set up my first bag, temps here now in the 80's, but I did not put any dirt into the bag as suggested, please advise, thanks

How often do these traps need to be replaced?
We've used a different but similarly designed, and effective, fly trap in the past, but after using it for about a week there was a horrible smell all around the area where we hung the trap. At first we thought we had a dead animal under our deck, but then realized it was coming from the fly trap. Will this one do the same? They're too expensive to throw away very often. Note: Our temps rarely go above 80-85 degs.

Im looking for a trap for horse flies and other biting flies around my horses, the flies in the photo seem pretty small.

Why are we seeing an increase in the amount of flies where we hung the Flies Be Gone fly trap?
The fly trap seems to be attracting more flies. We never had as many flies as what we've got now since hanging the flytrap. I don't understand this

The Flies Be Gone Fly Trap is designed to attract flies from 50-100 feet away so it is normal to see increased fly activity in the area where it is placed. You want to be sure to place it at least 30-50 feet away from the areas where you want to keep flies out for this reason.

What's the best way to clean up the contents of a Flies Be Gone Fly Trap that spilled all over the deck (that seeped below into dirt)?
Trying to prevent infestation where the contents pooled. Should we use a bleach water mixture?

Per the manufacturer, there is nothing harmful in the bait inside of the Flies Be Gone Fly Trap. There is no special cleaner that is needed; any good household cleaner and/or disinfectant will suffice.

I have a home in the mountains in the northeast and have problems with cluster flies. The worst time is in the fall when then come in the house. We are still getting nights below freezing should i wait to put out the traps.

A better option would be to spray down the foliage areas around your home -trees, bushes, flowers etc- with a residual insecticide like Bifen IT. Bifen is mixed at the rate of 1oz per gallon of water and will hold up to the outdoor elements roughly 30 days or so. Its safe to use on all plants other than edibles, and is also safe for sprays indoors for general pests around baseboards. It will do a great job of controlling gnats, mosquitoes, ants, spiders millipedes and a multitude of other insects on the property without leaving behind any visible residue, stain or odor.

The water and bait is separating in the Flies Be Gone Trap, is this normal?
Although constantly mixing it while it's hung it, by squeezing and moving the bottom of the bag, the water & bait keep separating. Is this normal? It's been up 2 days, and both days I have gone out and tried to mix it back up. It's cold here in PA now, but the water is not freezing.

I live on a farm next door to some cattle. Would Flies Be Gone Fly Traps help control flies?
I have a bug zapper and have tried attractants and they drown but I want to convince them to keep away from my house and patio. Is there such a product?

Unless your neighbor tries to control as well, this will be a never-ending fly battle. The good news is that you can use traps to keep the flies away from where you are. You could place Flies Be gone Traps around the area you frequent to attract the flies away from you and your family.

This uses a lure to attract flies and capture them, and then you simply dispose of the trap after 4-6 weeks or when full. You will want to hang the trap 15-30 feet away from where people or pets spend the most time, since the trap will attract flies. You could also use Maxforce Granular Fly Bait in tamper resistant FBS-1 Fly Bait Stations. These stations protect the bait from pets or other non-target animals while still allowing the flies to access the bait.

I have a dog run next to the house. When I clean the run, I put the dog poop in a covered trash bin until I take the bag out on trash day. Needless to say, it attracts a lot of flies. The easiest control for them is to allow the soil to dry out completely between the times you are watering them, which may actually be the best thing for the plants anyhow. The second option would be to cover the soil in these pots with some material that prevents the flies from getting to or from the soil, such as a thick layer of spagnum moss or some screening. The third option would be to use an insecticide such Talstar P. Talstar P is a concentrated liquid insecticide that is diluted with water and then poured onto the soil and sprayed onto the plant itself. We recommend starting with letting the soil dry out between watering as this offers the fastest control in most cases.
