Birds are highly sensitive to products so we are unsure of any negative impact the Gentrol Point Source may have on them. In general, the ingredient in Gentrol is only designed to target the juvenile growth hormone found specifically in insects, and not in other animals/mammals. We would recommend that you contact the manufacturer Zoecon directly at 925-948-4000 or a bird specialist/vet before using.
Gentrol Point Source is only labeled to be used indoors for roaches and would not be effective to treat roaches outdoors nor will it eradicate roaches if used by itself. This product only inhibits the growth cyle and stops immature stages of roaches from developing into adults. An insecticide like Temprid FX would be recommended to use indoors as well as outdoors for effective roach control. For roaches outdoors, we would suggest using NyGuard IGR with Temprid FX for the exterior periemter foundation of the home, around windows, doors and other entry points. For insects in edible gardens, Pyganic Gardening would be a good choice.
The Gentrol Point Source discs, when activated release the insect growth regulator active ingredient through the filter paper that will disperse over a 75 sq ft area. These work best when used on top of refridgerators, cabinets, shelves, etc where the vapor can bounce off the ceiling to thoroughly cover the area/room.
This slow release vapor is not harmful to humans or animals.
Yes, Gentrol Point Source can be shipped to California.
A roach control treatment will depend on the level of activity you have. Gentrol Point Source Stations can last and be replaced every three months. Advion Cockroach Bait Gel will need to be applied fresh every 2 to 3 weeks and we do recommend to rotate to a different bait gel at least every three months. We also recommend spraying with Temprid FX on baseboards, cracks and crevices, this and the bait gel could kill a roach within approximately 72 hours or so. Please take a few minutes to review the article on How to Get Rid of Roaches for placement options and more tips
You may place the Gentrol Point Source near areas where you have sprayed the insecticide. It will not taint the product as long as you are following the instructions on the product label. We do recommend placing the discs somewhere up higher so that the product can slowly drift down through the air providing more coverage. Technically, the stations can be moved after placing, yes, but, there is not really a need to move them once they have been place. 1 disc will cover up to 75 sq ft of open area and last up to 3 months.
Yes, while the NyGuard IGR in and of itself would work just fine on roaches as well as fleas, leaving no need for the use of the Gentrol Point Source, you can certainly place them within the home in areas you would like more reach of the growth inhibitor. This would be a completely safe application to do.
Gentrol Point Source Stations will cause the roaches to become deformed. It also will prompt the females to prematurely lay their eggs (the eggs will also be affected by the product). You should place a Gentrol Point Source disc in each room. For the kitchen area, you can use the sticky tabs included in the package and place the disc on the side or behind the fridge or place it to the side of the cabinets or pantry. You only need to keep the disc away from food prep areas not from stored food product. Gentrol Point Source should never be used to eliminate a roach population by itself. Gentrol will not kill roaches...it only prevents them from reproducing. You should use roach baits like the Advion Roach Bait Gel and roach sprays like the Cyzmic CS in conjunction with the Gentrol Point Source. Please take a moment to look at our Roach Control Kits.
There is no mention on the product label that prohibits the use of all 20 Gentrol Point Source stations in one area but there generally is no need to do so. Each station covers an area of 75 square feet and will last up to 3 months. If you need more information, you can contact the manufacturer at 1-800-248-7763.

Each Gentrol Point Source station will cover about 75 sq feet. When finding out the area in which to use a Gentrol Point Source station, you need to figure out an area of 75 square feet. You can do that by measuring out an area of 7.5 feet by 10 feet and that's the area one station will cover.
Yes, applying Gentrol Point Source in an area such as in a closed cabinet would be appropriate in a smaller kitchen area.
Another option is using Gentrol Aerosol instead of the Point Source Stations since it is ready to use and can be applied directly to cracks and crevices.
There is no liquid, gel or substance that is visible once the Gentrol Point Source discs are activated. Once activated, the vapor is slowly released over time and will remain effective for 90 days. One disc should be used every 75 sq ft of treatment area.
Please view the product label for more information and instructions on how to activate this discs.
Liquid should be dispersed when you press down on the lip of Gentrol Point Source to activate the vapor release disc. Typically it should remain somewhat wet but that will depend on the temperatures in the house. If the product you purchased appears dry we recommend contacting the manufacture to make sure the product you received is not defective.
Traditional air purifiers would not impact the vapors emitted by Gentrol Point Source, as those filter types collect dust, bugs and debris from the air. However, you may wish to contact the manufacturer Zoecon directly for clarification regarding the specific type of filter you are referring to, as we are not familiar.
Zoecon can be reached for product support by either calling 1-800-248-7763, or by visiting their website's contact page.
No, Gentrol Point Source will not sterilize or control mice or any other mammals. It is only for insects listed on the label.
Gentrol Point Source is labeled for use in various modes of transportation including but not limited to aircraft, buses, trucks, trailers, rail cars, and marine vessels. Keep in mind, insect growth regulators do not kill insects but only prevent their growth cycle and reproduction.
Depending on the insects you are targeting, additonal products will be needed.
Gentrol Point Source may be used in your kitchen. Exposed food would be fruit or vegetables that are kept on counters and not sealed in a container. You will use 1 disc per 75 sq ft of the room being treated therefore this allows options for disc placement that ahere with the 3ft away from exposed food recommendation per the product label.
Please review the product label for more information about this product.
Fogging/Bombing homes for roaches typically is not the most effective method to eliminating a roach infestation as these products will only kill roaches that are out at the same time as the fogger is going off. They do not leave a residual effective to transfer back to the colony. The only time fogging would be recommended for roach treatments would be if you are seeing high numbers of roaches and want knockdown of the initial population before following up with proper roach treatment program such as one of our Roach Control Kits.
While fogging would not harm the Gentrol Point Source stations you already have out, it would be recommended to remove any discs while fogging/bombing. Also, when using the Gentrol Point Source, these discs are more effective when placed up high as the vapor it releases is slightly heavier than air, and higher up placements such as the side of upper cabinets above/behind the fridge, etc will help the product disperse through the area better to reach more of the population. While 1 or 2 down low is fine, to get the most from the product you would not want to place many down on the floor.
Each one of our Roach Control Kits includes the top professional grade products for roaches including a non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide, a roach bait gel and the Gentrol Pointe Source Discs with enough for roughly 3-4 treatments.
