Halosulfuron Pro is the same product as Sedgehammer, but cheaper. Same active ingredient and effectiveness.
We highly recommend using a surfactant with Halosulfuron Pro.
Halosulfuron Pro herbicide kills nutsedge without injury to turfgrass, established ornamentals, shrubs, and/or trees. Halosulfuron provides post-emergence control of both purple nutsedge and yellow nutsedge. Halosulfuron Pro also controls many broadleaf weeds and suppresses kyllinga. Nutsedge is controlled after emergence in cool and warm season turf grasses such as St. Augustinegrass, Bermudagrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, tall and fine fescue, and perennial ryegrass. It is considered one of the more "gentle to turfgrass" products and pets and people can return to the treated area once the spray dries.
Halosulfuron Pro is the exact same product as Manage Herbicide and Sedgehammer.

It works!
By Kevin on 08/22/2011
Just as advertised, it works - even though it is the generic version of Sedgehammer. Follow the directions as indicated on the package, and just use Jet Dri (for dishwashers) as your surfactant - works just fine. Just have to be paitient with it. I didn't see any yellowing for almost a week. But what I did notice is that the day after I sprayed, I took notice that the Nutsedge wasnt growing anymore - and we all know how fast that stuff can grow. Might have to give a 2nd shot to some of them. Not sure if I missed them the first time around or that it just didnt have an effect on some, but the ones that I did have to give a 2nd shot to only counts as about 1%. Pretty awesome stuff and it didnt hurt my grass at all.

Halosulfuron Pro Herbicide
By Wayne on 08/21/2011
Got tired of hand picking Yellow Nutsedge out of my lawn. This stuff worked great, even after it rained after application when not expected. Within 3 days Nutsedge starting dying off and has not returned as of yet. Very reasonable price to pay for a product that worked this well.

Halosulfuron Pro Herbicide
By Steve on 08/23/2011
Really worked well on my nutsedge problem. It takes a few days before the weeds begin to yellow. After I mowed few have come back. A single packet only makes a gallon. If you have a significant problem, buy a couple of packages. This product doesn't kill your grass.

Halosulfuron Pro Herbicide is meant more for nutsedge control in turf grass and it cannot be used near a vegetable garden or anything edible. It remains in the soil for up to 3 years so the manufacturer recommends that you not plant anything edible in an area where it has been applied for at least 3 years. For nutsedge control in or around a vegetable garden, it is recommended to spot treat the sedge with a glyphosate or RoundUp type product directly. With this type of product it is only necessary to wait 2-3 weeks after application to plant vegetables or anything else. We would recommend Roundup QuickPro 1.5 oz. packs for ease of use. Also, you should not just pull the plants. This will just split off the rhizome and more new plants will grow from the nutlets left in the soil. To completely remove the plants, you would need to completely dig out the nutlets so that new plants do not grow from them. Many folks will still till the soil after using RoundUp to be sure there are no remaining nutlets that will grow new plants.
