Rosemarie from St. James, New York writes

I have camel crickets in my finished basement. What would be the most effective pesticide to use.

I use a dehumidifier and do not have water leaks. They are in my storage and laundry area. I am going to check for cracks and will seal around pipes. I was thinking of applying something outside of the foundation as well as inside. Please advise me of what to use. I perfer something odorless and i have no pets. Thanks

Answer:

Bifen IT is a very good product to use for camel crickets indoors. You will spray this around the baseboards and cracks and crevices indoors. This can be done every 90 days indoors.

If you would like to treat outdoors to prevent the camel crickets from coming indoors, Niban Granular Bait is very good. It is a moisture resistant bait. You will apply a 2-4 foot band around your home. This can also be used indoors in attics, crawl spaces, and cracks and crevices. Do not apply this around any type of residual products, such as Bifen IT because it will deter the crickets away from the bait.
