James from Virginia Beach, Va writes

Is Atrazine harmful to Zoysia grass varieties and how long before rain can it be used?

The instructions indicate it is OK to use on centipede and St. Augustine which are similar to Zoysia in growth and root structure. Atrizine has been indicated by some users as being safe for Zoysia. Might that be he case in some perhaps early or late season application?

Answer:

Hi-Yield Atrazine Weed Killer is not labeled to be used on Zoysia grass and is only for use on St Augustine and Centipede grass types. If you choose to use this on your zoysia lawn we would suggest testing it in a small inconspicuous spot first and give 1-2 weeks for results before treating any other sections of the lawn. We have tons of other broadleaf herbicides safe and labeled for use on zoysia on our site such as Speedzone Southern
