    What should I use for spider mites in Italian cypress?
    Should I use malathion with or without oil? Is there something else you recommend?
    A
    Please contact your local cooperative extension office to enquire whether or not you would benefit from using oil with the Malathion in your situation. Most of our customers use Talstar P for spider mite elimination. Talstar P is gentle to use on plants and works very well for spider mites.

    Does Malathion 57% kill ticks? If so, how long before I can let my dogs back in the yard?

    Malathion 57% is not labeled for tick control. We would recommend to use the Outdoor Flea and Tick Kit, once the treated area is completely dry it is safe for your dogs to be back in the yard.

    There is a minimum pre-harvest of one day for turnip greens when treating with Malathion 57%.

    How do I apply and mix Malathion 57% to kill termites?
    A

    Malathion 57% is not labeled for termitess. This product is only labled for certain insects on plants, fruits and vegetables. If you are looking for a termite control product, you could use something like Taurus SC

    Taurus SC is a non-repellent insecticide that is undetectable to target pests, allowing them touch, ingest and spread the insecticide throughout the entire colony. For termites, Taurus SC will eliminate termite colonies in less than 90 days on average.

    Will Malation 57 burn a fruit tree if sprayed?

    Malathion 57% is labeled for applications of certain fruits. We will need more information on the insect or disease that is causing the brown spots on the leaves and the kinds of fruit that you will be applying the product to so that we can offer the best product and application specific to your needs to ensure that the tree does not burn.
    Fertilome Triple Action is a newer formulation of the Triple Action Plus II but now with a higher active ingredient and quicker and more complete control. Triple Action is a multi-purpose insecticide, fungicide, miticide that kills eggs, larval and adult stages of insects and controls plant diseases. Fertilome Triple Action can be applied every 7-14 days to kill existing diseases and insect pests. It can also be applied up to the day of harvest on all fruit trees and vegetable plants. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application instructions.

    How long does a product like Malathion 57% or Talstar P last once opened?
    A

    The shelf life of Malathion 57% and Talstar P is 3-5 years when stored at room temperature. Do not store container in areas where it is exposed to freezing temps or temps above 80 degrees.

    Is Malathion 57% safe to dogs roaming outside?

    Malathion 57% should be applied when the dogs are not present. They can return to the treated areas when the surfaces have completely dried.

    Can I spray Malathion onto siding of my house?
    Every year I get red concrete mites in my backyard and on my front porch and every year I do a combination of try Azaline spray and then Malathion and it always takes care of them. This year they are also going up onto the siding of my house. I do the Malathion in a hand powered spray bottle one of the pump once my question is once I make the mixture can I spray it onto the siding of my house where they go or will it seep through and into the air in the house?

    Malathion 57% is only labeled to be used on crops, plants and trees, not on a building.  We would instead recommend something like D Fense SC.

    Will Malathion 57% work on both apple and cherry trees?
    Looking for one spray that will stop coddling moth (apples) and western cherry fruit fly (cherries).

    Malathion 57% is labeled for cherry trees, but not apple trees. We would recommend a product like Bonide Fruit Tree Spray Concentrate. This will cover both your cherry and apple trees for spraying for codling moths.

    Will Malathion 57% kill grass?
    A

    Malathion 57% should not harm grass when mixed and applied as directed on the product label.  That being said it is not labeled to be used on turf/grass so contact should be minimal when applying to the listed crops,  trees, shrubs or other areas.

    Is there a systemic insecticide for scale on camellias?
    A
    The most commonly used systemic insecticide is imidacloprid. There are many imidacloprid products on the market such as Merit, Adonis 2F, and Criterion. We recommend you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to see which one of these products would be most appropriate for camellias.

    What organic products should be used to rid my vegetable garden of a variety of caterpillars and squash bugs. They are destroying my garden in total.

    The only product we carry that can be used in a vegetable garden is Malathion 57%. You may also want to contact your local Cooperative Extension System Offices to speak to the master gardener. The master gardener in your region is very familiar with the insect issues that you are experiencing and may be able to offer you guidance.

    Is Malathion 57% good to kill crickets?
    A

    Malathion 57% is labeled to treat crickets on strawberry crops. If you are treating for residential lawns and perimeter treatments(not edibles), any of the synthetic pyrethroid products here will work great for you treatment.

    How long does it take to kill caterpillars?
    A

    The amount of time it takes for Malathion 57% to kill a caterpillar will vary based off several factors like the health of the caterpillar, how much of the product the caterpillar picked up on them, etc.  It could be within the first hour, or it could be a day.

    How to clean pump sprayer after using Malathion?
    A

    After using Malathion 57% you should triple rinse the sprayer before using another product in it and before storing.  Another option is to use a sprayer cleaner to remove any residual that could be left behind.
