Hasn't done the trick yet
By C. on 02/19/2011
I put out the gel a few weeks ago...putting it where I see the ants most active in my basement. I've watched to see if there is any activity around the bait. For a week and a half it seemed like they avoided it. I did, however, see random dead ants here and there. So I guess it was killing some of them, but I still have live ones, too. I also put out the protein based Advance bait granules which was suggested, since Max Force is the "sweet" bait. Carpenter ants have finicky taste buds, it seems. They have totally avoided the protein bait so far. Anyway, yesterday, we had a major warm up in the East and with it came lots more ant activity in my house....not happy about that. But I did notice that for the first time there seemed to be more interest in the Max Force gel. I hope this finally does the trick. I've used 2 tubes of this stuff, so far. Fingers crossed.

Carpenter ants are still active
By Anonymous on 08/21/2013
I'm on my second order of Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel. I've been using it for 3 weeks. It knocks the ants down and their dust & shavings lessen, but if I do not apply the bait for two or three days, the ants become visually active again. Obviously, the bait has not reached the queen. It is premature to remit a positive report on this product.
