Merit 0.5 G Insectcide Granules are the longest lasting broad-spectrum grub control product on the market. Both curative and preventative, Merit Granules holds a ten-year record of 90% effectiveness on virtually every species of turf and ornamental pests. Merit even improves the quality of your turf. Merit 0.5 G is for broadcast application on and around turfgrass, ornamentals, trees, shrubs, flowers, groundcovers, and in and around commercial or residential buildings. Apply Merit 0.5 G uniformly over area being treated with normally used granular application equipment. Both drop-type and rotary-type spreaders may be used. Avoid using a spreader which would apply the product in narrow bands. For optimum control, product application should be followed by mechanical incorporation, irrigation, or rainfall, to help move the active ingredient into the soil.

Tips for Use

MERIT is most effective when applied prior to, or just after, egg lay. In most cases, adult emergence occurs in early summer, often after significant rainfall or irrigation, followed by mating and egg laying. This usually continues for four to six weeks. Under normal circumstances, Merit will provide residual white grub control for four months or longer in turf.

last year i awoke to find my yard over run by crows. During the day i would run outside and chase them away but they would return within the hour. The crows were destorying my lawn. So i called a professional lawn service and they promise to treat and end the problem. The day after the lawn was sprayed the crows continued tearing up my lawn. Even after a month later. At that point i searched the internet and found a product called" crowbegone". A cd with strange bird calls but after a month of use it to was a failure. The crows had won so i thought. Thats when i came across your wed site and purchase Merit G. In two words "It Works ". After chasing away the crows i applied Merit G and watered it in real good that evening. Within the first week i observed fewer crows on my lawn. By the second week the crows would land on the lawn and walk around looking for their grub meal but the kitchen was closed. After a month only one or two crows would check out the lawn and then walk away. Problem solved. Now my lawn is beautiful again. THANKS.

Does Merit Control Rose Chaffers?

Looking to spread in sandy soil over a large area to control rose chaffer hatch in June in Michigan.

Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules is not labeled for rose chafers but it is labeled for a variety of other chafers. I have linked an article from the University of Minnesota, that states that the active ingredient (imidacloprid) is known to control the rose chafers though.

I used merit to kill grubs in the garden where I planted tomato plants. Are the tomatoes safe to eat?

Merit Granules is only labeled to be used on turf grass and landscape ornamentals, not on any garden with edibles. I do not recommend consuming any of the tomatoes that were treated withMerit Granules.

Fruit Tree and Vegetable Systemic  would be a better option. Labeled for psyllids in herb garden.

No, Merit cannot be used in a vegetable garden for grubs. We recommend contacting your local cooperative extension for advice. These centers have master gardeners that are familiar with regional pests and regional vegetation and can offer advice on safe products to use in your vegetable garden.

Why don't you have the Merit in a smaller size like 5000 sq ft. coverage, that would last me 2 yr

We apologize but the manufacturer of Merit Granules - 30 lb. bag just does not have it in a smaller bag. We do however have the Hi-Yield Grub Free Zone III which comes in a smaller bag but has the same active ingredient.

timing of application for merit in dupage co.il?

I have a 57x53 ft. back yard ,front is about the same and have a terrible problem with grubs. I have used the bayer 24 hour kill in may and imacloprid in fall and still have a problem .I need to kill the ones that are hibernating from last fall and then the ones after egglay in august. I will be buying a bag of Merit but how long is the shelf life. and can I store it in the garage,I know to keep it clean and dry but will the cold affect it?

Normally grubs are most active between may and june and this is the most common time that products like the Merit are applied. You want to store it in a cool dry, temperature stable place and will normally keep for at least 3 years.
