Metsulfuron, the active ingredient in Negate 37WG Herbicide, is labeled for ryegrass control in many Kentucky bluegrass sites and may also provide some measure of tall fescue control. However, because only lower rates are safe on Kentucky bluegrass, metsulfuron will likely only injure tall fescue.

We would not recommend tank mixing Quinclorac and Negate 37WG Herbicide due to the physical compatibilities. Be sure that one application is dry before applying the other.
Negate 37WG cannot be used on fescue. Since Poa Trivialis and Fescue are both cool season grasses, there is not a selective herbicide that would kill the poa trivialis without also killing the fescue. We suggest spot treating with a non-selective like Roundup and then reseeding after 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, we are not able to confirm with the manufacturer if this mixture rate would still be effective for weed control therefore we would recommend to mix a new mixture of Negate 37WG Herbicide at the proper ratios for best results.
With Negate 37WG, it is necessary to mix the entire contents of the bottle into one gallon of water to create the correct suspended concentrate of the two active ingredients. You will then take 3 ounces from that gallon of mixed solution and mix that into one gallon of water for spot treatments. The original gallon you mixed the entire bottle into will be good for about a month.
Negate 37WG Herbicide is not labeled for velvet grass (yorkshire fog) and unfortunately we could not find a herbicide labeled to kill it. Since this perennial grass has a shallow root system, the most common method is to hand dig the velvet grass without harming your lawn. Another method is to spot treat the weeds directly with Roundup QuickPro and reseed any bare spots after 2 weeks.
Negate 37WG Herbicide is best applied anytime when weeds are young and actively growing and air temperatures are between 60 to 85 degrees. A non ionic surfactant is recommended for best results however can cause temporary discoloration to turf if under stress from drought, heat, disease, etc.
We recommend applying in early morning or late afternoon/evening when temperatures are coolest for the day and the application has time to dry before to day time temperatures reach above 85 degrees.
