    Q
Can Quali-Pro Negate 37WG be used to spot spray, and what would be the formulation?
I was running some numbers and was thinking maybe it would be 0.1 oz to spot spray per 2 Gallons.

  • Asked by Michael from Huntsville

    Q
Mixed Negate 37WG too strong. Will my Zoysia come back?
I mixed the entire 1.5 oz bottle of Negate 37WG in 2 gallons of water and spread a little less than an acre. I burnt the lawn. The grass is not brown but is definitely a lighter green. What can I do to bring my lawn back to life. I haven't needed to mow in almost 4 weeks now. I have been watering every other day to everyday trying to bring it back but that is not working.
    A

Unfortunately only time will tell if the lawn will recover from the over application of Negate 37WG.  The only way to reduce the effects of an herbicide would be use an activated charcoal product pretty immediately after spraying (within hours).

    Q
What can I use to kill perennial ryegrass in my Bermuda? What is the timing for application?
    A

Negate 37WG will control perennial ryegrass in a bermuda lawn as long as you are following the instructions on the product label. For the best time on when to apply in your specific region, we would recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office. Post emergent products are applied when the weeds are actively growing.

  • Asked by Charles from Calhoun City Ms
    08/11/2021
    Q
Can Negate 37WG Herbicide be used to kill weeds like buttonweed that are in or around shrubs and landscape beds?
    A

No, Negate 37WG cannot be applied in or around desirable plants, bushes, trees, shrubs or ornamentals. Per the product label, applications should be avoided where desirable root zones may extend or in locations where the chemical may be washed or moved into contact with their roots. In areas where Negate 37WG has been applied, do not plant shrubs and trees in treated areas for at least 1 year after the last application or bedding plants for at least 2 years.

To treat buttonweed and other broadleaf weeds, hand pulling the weeds or directly spot treating with a non selective herbicide like Roundup Quick Pro is recommended.

For grassy weeds, Fusilade II is one of the top choices to kill actively growing grassy weeds in landscape beds, flowers, shrubs, bushes, and trees and will not injure listed tolerant plants/ornamentals

  • Asked by Brandon from Tolar, Tx
    03/22/2021
    Q
How much Negate 37WG Herbicide do I need for 27,000 sq ft?
    A

You would use 1.5 fl oz per acre using spray volumes of 20 to 80 gal/acre and pressures of 25 to 35 psi. For spot treating, or for treating smaller areas, the manufacturer recommends diluting the entire 1.5 oz bottle of Negate 37WG in a gallon of water first (not in your sprayer but in a separate container) since there are different sized prills in the concentrate. You would then use 3 oz of your mixed solution in at least 1 gallon of water per 1000 square feet. The remaining initial solution can be stored for 2-4 weeks.  Just be sure you agitate the solution before mixing and re-applying. You can reapply on your dormant turf after 4 weeks if the target weeds are still present.

  • Asked by Buildercarl from Mooresville, Nc
    03/16/2019
    Q
Is Negate 37WG good for poa in Fescue?
    A

Negate 37WG is not labeled for Fescue but does great for poa annua in Bermuda. Because poa annua and Fescue are so closely related, there are few products that will kill the poa annua without also harming the Fescue.  The only one we are currently aware of is called Prograss and it is very expensive. Your other options would be to either spot-treat with a Roundup-type product and then reseed with the Fescue in those areas, or you can use a pre-emergent like Prodiamine 65 WDG in the fall to prevent the poa from growing in the first place.

Negate 37WG Herbicide is mixed differently than other herbicides.

To mix Negate 37WG, you will dilute the entire 1.5 oz bottle in ONE gallon of water first (not in your sprayer but in a separate container) since there are different sized prills in the concentrate.
