Nufarm Mallet 0.5 G Insecticide is an insect killer that controls pests on turfs and landscape ornamentals. Contains imidacloprid as its active ingredient which provides adequate residual activity so that it may be applied before the pests lay eggs. It is proven to be fast-acting, immediately killing insects and grubs. Nufarm Mallet 0.5 G Insecticide is a systemic insecticide that is transported upward within the plant. It features low use rates so it cost-saving plus, it comes in a granular formula, making it easy and convenient to use. A broad-spectrum insecticide that targets various insect pests and provides preventive and curative control. It is ideal for use in bedding plants, shrubs, trees, flowers, evergreens, groundcovers, and foliage. Controls insects such as mole crickets, flies, beetles, chafers, white grub larvae, and billbugs. It is used for broadcast application and applied before pest infestation. For best results and maximum performance, place where the roots can easily absorb the active ingredient. Irrigation and rainfall after applying the product will help in maximizing control.

APPLICATION TO TURFGRASSES AND LANDSCAPE ORNAMENTALS

Use this product for the control of listed soil-inhabiting pests of turfgrass and landscaped ornamentals as directed on the use sites listed below.

Use this product as a broadcast application to the soil around plants intended for aesthetic purposes or climatic modification and being grown in interior plantscapes, ornamental gardens or parks, or on golf courses or lawns and grounds in and around the perimeter of industrial and commercial buildings and on residential areas. Make application prior to anticipated pest infestation to maximize control. Rainfall, irrigation and mechanical incorporation after application will aid in maximizing control.

APPLICATION EQUIPMENT

Apply this product uniformly over the area being treated with granular application equipment. Both drop-type and rotary-type spreaders may be used to apply this product. DO NOT use spreaders that apply the material in narrow, concentrated bands. Calibrate all application equipment at the time of application to achieve the specified application rate.

TURFGRASSES (Lawns)

  • Annual bluegrass weevil, Asiatic garden beetles, Billbugs, Black Turfgrass Ataenius, European chafer, European Crane Fly, Green June Beetle, Japanese Beetle, May or June beetles, Northern masked chafer, Oriental beetle, Southern masked chafer
    • 60 to 80 lb per acre or 1.4 to 1.8 lb per 1000 sq. ft.
  • Mole Crickets, Chinch bugs, Cutworms
    • 80 lb per acre or 1.8 lb per 1000 sq. ft.

ORNAMENTALS: Landscape Plantings (including trees, shrubs, evergreens, flowers, foliage and bedding plants, and ground covers)

  • White grub larvae (including Japanese beetle larvae, Chafers, Phyllophaga spp., Asiatic garden beetle, Oriental beetle)
    • 1.4 to 1.8 lb per 1000 sq. ft.

APPLICATION TO GRASSY AREAS IN NURSERIES AND NURSERY GROWN ORNAMENTALS

Use this product on grassy areas in nurseries, around nursery grown ornamentals, and between planting rows in nurseries to control listed pests. Make application prior to anticipated pest infestation to maximize control. Rainfall, irrigation and mechanical incorporation after application will aid in maximizing control.

 controls a broad spectrum of key insects and provides long-lasting residual control up to 12 weeks as a drench application and 3 to 4 weeks as a spray application. Please see the label for complete application instructions.

Is Nufarm Mallet 0.5 G Insecticide good for army worms?

This product is not labeled for army worms so we would not recommend. Bifen XTS is labeled for army worms.  Be sure to read the product label for complete application instructions.

What is the rate of Nufarm Mallet 0.5 G Insecticide to treat white moths, ants and possible chinch bugs on 2000 sq ft of St. Augustine sod?

Nufarm Mallet 0.5 G Insecticide is not labeled to control ants or sod webworms (lawn moths) however this product will treat for mole crickets, chinch bugs, white grubs, and many other turf eating insects in the lawn. 
For mole crickets, grubs, and chinch bugs in lawns, the application rate is 80 lbs per acre or 1.8lbs per 1000 sq ft.

Meridian 0.33 G Insecticide would be a better choice for treating ants, chinch bugs, sod webworms and a broad spectrum insecticide for both foliar and turf eating insects. For ants, chinch bugs and sod webworms, the application rate is 60 to 80lbs per acre or 1.4lbs to 1.8lbs per 1000 sqft. Please view the full product label for more information.
