    Q
I was told that Bed Bugs become immune or resistant to a a pesticide after so long. Is this true? I have been
Will this be a good replacement for Transport GHP?
    A
It takes many years for any insect to build up a resistance to a product and when they do, it is normally due to mis-use of a chemical that allowed them to do this. While it is good if you are treating an area that comes into contact with bed bugs frequently-ie: hotel, apartment, rental homes-to change your active ingredients periodically, you would not need to swap unless you were having a problem. The Transport GHP is a great product for bed bugs, however the manufacturer actually prefers the Transport Mikron for treatments over the GHP. If you wanted to swap to a different product, we would recommend something like Temprid SC that will also have a double ingredient like the Transport. Products like these are specifically designed to have 2 ingredients so that if you run across a bed bug that is resistant to one of them, the other ingredient is there waiting to still kill them. The only known resistance currently is to first generation sythetic pyrethroids. Most insecticides on the market for bed bugs currently are either second generation, or not pyrethroid based at all. Keep in mind you should be using more than just a concentrated product to control a bed bug infestation properly and quickly. Please refer to our article on How To Get Rid of Bed Bugs for more information on treatments.

    Q
    FastCap Onslaught and ants
I tried Onslaught FastCap for the first time at a dance studio that has ants under their dance sub floors. The floors could not be broadcast sprayed and I could not reach under the sub floors, so I did a baseboard crack and crevice treatment and hoped for good results... It has been about a week and they report no change in ant activity. So I have several questions: 1. Is that enough time to see results. 2. Do you have any application recommendations that might help? 3. Are there any other product recommendations that would produce excellent results? Many Thanks!
    A

    1. It can take up to 21 days to start to see big results

    2. Yes, while Onslaught will kill ants that come incontact with it, Onslaught will not stop the problem. If you can bait then please check out the Complete Ant kit. If not then Phantom would be a good product to use. Pests can't even detect Phantom, so they walk right over it and then spread it to other insects hidden behind walls or in their home colony, killing every other pest they come in contact with.

    Q
Can I mix CyKick CS and Onslaught FastCap Spider and Scorpion Insecticide for maximum effectiveness on scorpions?
    A

Onslaught FastCap Spider and Scorpion Insecticide and Cy-Kick CS should not be mixed together. Using either of these products will do a great job controlling scorpions. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation

    Q
When doing an interior treatment for spiders, will I get better results by using a fan spray (close to the baseboard to basically just cover the baseboard) or applying a pin stream near the bottom of the baseboard using Onslaught FastCap?
    A

When applying Onslaught FastCap to baseboards and interior crevices, we suggest using a pin stream. Fan spraying will be great for outdoors where you have a lot more surface area to cover.

  • Asked by Pam from Mcdonough, Ga
    07/13/2015
    Q
Is Onslaught FastCap Insecticide the best way to get rid of scorpions?
We find scorpions in our house all the time in various areas. I have a 7mo. old grandchild starting to crawl and a small dog in the house. I can't take a chance on my grandchild being stung by a scorpion.
    A

Onslaught FastCap Spider and Scorpion Insecticide would definitely be the best option for your needs. It is specifically formulated to better target spiders and scorpions with a more thorough and long lasting coverage for these hard to kill pests. Keep in mind, no matter what product you are using for scorpions, you have to create a wider barrier for them than any other pest around your home. For general insects you would treat with a barrier around the foundation 2 feet up and 2 feet out. With scorpions you should be doing 2-3 feet up and 6-10 feet out on the ground. You can also spray inside around cracks and crevices, baseboard areas, and potential entry points such as around window and door frames and where plumbing meets the wall.  Also make sure to treat any landscape areas around your home that they would be prone to hiding in, i.e., mulch, bark, landscape timbers, rocks etc. You can review more information for protecting your home from scorpions in our article on Scorpion Control.

  • Asked by Francisco from Indio Ca

    Q
Will Dragnet SFR kills scorpions and brown recluse spiders?
Hello guys, I'm asking this question because I have some friends that live in the desert and they have seen scorpions inside their homes and outside and I just would like to buy the right chemical for the this job. What do you recommend or will Dragnet do the job..Thanks
    A

Dragnet is labeled for scorpions and spiders but the Onslaught FastCap Spider & Scorpion would definitely be the best option for your needs. Also make sure to treat any landscape areas around your home that they would be prone to hiding in ie: mulch, bark, landscape timbers, rocks etc.

Below is an out line of the things you can do in addition to the chemical control methods you are already using:

Non-insecticide methods for scorpion control are:

Exclusion- Scorpions and other pests can be kept out of structures to a large degree by installing tight-fitting screens, replacing old weatherstripping around doors and windows, and caulking cracks and crevices that scorpions can use to gain access to the home especially around cables, pipes and wires that enter through the walls of the structure.

Harborage Removal- Harborage removal is key to scorpion control and will greatly reduce the numbers of scorpions in the area surrounding the structure, making it far less likely that they will enter. Harborage removal includes eliminating piles of lumber, bricks, and other stacked items that create clusters of tight spaces, elimination of vegetation and other heavy ground coverings near homes and buildings, trimming back tree and shrub limbs from walls and roof, and keeping gutters clear of leaves and other debris.
