The Origin Point Brand Barrier Gate is green and used for preventing unauthorized vehicle traffic on private roads, running/bike paths, camp grounds, farm entrances, golf courses, hunting camps and cottages. It is adjustable from 5 ft - 12 ft. You will need: Measuring Tape, Level, 3/4 in. & 9/16 in. Socket or box wrench, Adjustable Wrench, Electric Drill with 5/16 in. drill bit, 8 ft. 6 x 6 in. or 4 x 4 in. Pressure treated lumber, concrete, shovel.

Installation:
Install gate 40 - 48 in. above path or road high point onto a plumbed 6 x 6 in. post (or similar). See Fig. 7 on the product label for details on installing posts. Placement of the top lag bolt of the upper hinge bracket is 1 7/8 in. below your determined height of Barrier Gate and centered on the post. Lower hinge bracket is 22 3/4 in. (on center) below top bracket.
Position triangle reinforcement on hinge brackets to the bottom. Drill 5/16 in. pilot holes at each lag bolt position. Screw both hinge brackets in place with four 3-1/2 in. lag bolts. Hinge brackets on Barrier Gate rest above post mounted brackets and are seperated with nylon washers. Insert 1/2 in. x 1 1/2 in. hex bolts down through brackets as hingee pins, add lock washer and flat washer, then twist nut onto each and thumb tighten. Installed Barrier Gate Assembly should be level.
Backout Shipping / Set screw so interal extension arms can slide out. Extend internal extension arms as needed to the desired length. Position and install Lock Bracket centered onto the second post. Use extended arm to determine height and center the locking bracket on post. The locking brackets should overlap so padlock (not included) can be attached.
Drill 5/16 in. pilot holes at lag bolt positions and screw locking bracket in place with 1 1/2 in. lag bolts. Tighten both Set Screws to lock the position of the Extension arms. For roads wider than 12 feet, two Barrier Gates may be used together, with post mounted hinges on each side. The lock loops on the ends of the Barrier Gates can be locked together. Be sure the heights of both gates are the same at their intersection.

At the time of my purchase 3 months ago, I was suspicious of the low price. Other barrier gates sold online were priced significantly higher. However, this low priced gate is a substantial and well-made product. The hinges provide good balance and smooth traversing. Note: The bolts are metric. Installation requires a drill, socket wrench with deep sockets, two people and two hours. I highly recommend this gate.

Easy to install and STURDY too!

We recently installed a pair of the 12' barrier gates to span a full 24' of driveway entrance. I'm in my 60's and my husband is in his 70's so we were worried it might be more than we could handle but the installation went great. All the hardware is included to mount the gates. The gates are much more sturdy than I expected for the low price. DoYourOwn even beat Lowes price and delivered to us free. Instructions are easy and very clear. Hardest part is setting the posts. You can do it!

Barrier Gate

Works Great - Easy to Install. Finished product is perfect! Remember to unscrew the set screw all of the way to get both arms to come out. Only downside would be the packing material when shipped by UPS. The ends are not properly protected. If the gate is dropped on the Hook end - the Hook bends and cracks - or if dropped on the hinge side - both hinges need to be bent back in place. When you buy the product - make sure you buy from Domyownpestcontrol.com and open and inspect before you go to install - because they stand behind the product and make good should UPS bounce it around!

What more can I say about the price. My handyman had no problem installing-used 4x6 wood posts set in cement. Added a third small post so the swing arm could be 'locked' in place when open on a windy day. Yes, if you get a chance inspect when UPS arrives-my package was dented and open on one side. Not the hinge side but the arm side. Nothing was bent though. I could not find anything like this product in my local area, or it probably would have been to costly. Happy!!

I was also pleasantly surprised at the quality of this gate. I researched many gates that were a lot more money. I liked it so much I ordered another one for my 12' opening. It will be perfect for my horse barn. My only complaint would be to UPS. The box had a lot of damage and the gate had a few scratches, but for what I paid for it, I won't complain too much.

How are they adjusted for a driveway opening?
The Origin Point Brands Barrier Gate is actually made of powder coated steel. It would adjusted by pulling out the top pole which extends from 5-12 feet in length.

Can it adjust to only one direction?
The Origin Point Brands Barrier Gate opens from side to side, at 180 degree angles. It is mounted with hinges that allow it to swing both ways so unfotunately, it can't be adjusted to only open in one direction.
