    Q
Can you mix Permethrin and NyGuard IGR to treat yard for fleas?
Had a cat have a litter of babies under my house and I have a little flea problem. Trying to treat before it becomes a big problem
    A
Yes, we recommend that you mow your lawn 1-2 days prior to your first application of Permethrin and NyGuard IGR. You will wait two weeks and provide a second application. You can perform a third and/or fourth application if needed depending on the level of fleas (waiting two weeks in between treatments).

    Q
I have a flea infestation that I cant get under control. How much do I need to treat inside house 1200 sq foot?
Is it for yard & home?
    A
With Permethrin SFR 36.8%, you will use 1 2/3 fl. oz. per gallon of water. We do recommend mixing this with an IGR (insect growth regulator) for your first treatment. This is like a birth control for the fleas and will stop them from laying eggs. Archer IGR is a good product to use. You will need to vacuum everyday for 14 days and do a second treatment of the Permethrin SFR. These products can be used in both the yard and in your home. We would recommend treating both so that fleas are not being brought from outdoors, making the infestation worse. These treatments may need to be done more than twice.

  • Asked by Sylvia from Texas
    08/09/2014
    Q
Can I mix Permethrin SFR with Onslaught?
Trying to rid fleas, bird mites and ticks.
    A

These products should not be mixed together. There is no valid reason to mix Onslaught  and  Permethrin SFR together.  They are both synthetic pyrethroids so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.

  • Asked by Bryan from Indiana
    08/29/2014
    Q
I see ants listed, but does Permethrin SFR 36.8% kill off Carpenter Ants as well?
    A
While Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for ants, it is hard to say for certain if it will have any effect on Carpenter Ants since they are not specified on the label. For treatment of Carpenter Ants, we recommend using our Carpenter Ant Control Kit # 2  Dominion 2L is great for ant control when used as a perimeter spray. Spraying 2ft up and 2ft out from the foundation will give you 6 month control around the periemeter of the home  Since ants are either looking for a sugar bait or protein bait, it is important offer both. The kits contain the Maxforce Carpenter Ant Bait Gel (sugar bait) and Advance Carpenter Ant Bait (protein bait). Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Q
Can Permethrin SFR 36.8% on a garden with vegetables on the ground. Will roots absorb into plant?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% cannot be applied to edible vegetation. It does not leach into the soil to the roots, but still cannot be used over veggies. Depending on what you are treating and for what, you could use Sevin concentrate.

  • Asked by Phil from Cascade, Id
    09/12/2014
    Q
Utilizing Dominion 2L for pine borers via soil injection. When should applications be made.
    A
Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a synthetic pyrethroid like Permethrin SFR.  Unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them.  The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.

What are the grazing restrictions on coastal Bermuda grass when applying Permethrin SFR?
    A
Permethrin SFR NOT labeled for and should not be used in grazing pastures at all. If you do have a grazing plot/area that was treated with the product, then the grass should be allowed to grow high and then be cut several times before the animals/horses can be turned out to graze again.

  • Asked by Gina
    09/26/2014
    Q
    Permethrin SFR 36.8% kill Chiggers?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for chiggers and may not provide adequate results for you. Onslaught insecticide is labeled for chiggers and can be used both indoors and outdoors as a broadcast spray. Chiggers are not known to infest structures. Chiggers are most likely outdoors in your yard. Many people are lead to believe that the infestation is indoors because they do not feel the effects of the chigger bites right away and then are lead to believe they are being bitten at a later time. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors. If you feel strongly that you are being bitten inside by something we would urge you to get a sample of the pest and have it professionally identified by an entomologist. You can find an entomologist in your area by contacting your local cooperative extension office.

  • Asked by Marinos from Riverside,ca
    11/14/2014
    Q
what is the importance of the .5% and 1% rate ratio?
please explain ,I don't understand. thank you
    A
The rate you use will depend on where you are spraying, and what level of infestation you have. The lower rate is normally used for preventative/light infestations. The higher rate is normally used when you have a decently heavy problem and you want to eliminate it from inside and outside the home.

  • Asked by Felix from Macon, Ga
    02/22/2015
    Q
Can you spray Permethrin SFR directly on you and how to mix to treat your yard and dogs?
    A
Permethrin SFR cannot be used on humans in any way but the product label does give instructions for using on dogs as a flea and tick dip.  Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.
For Lawns: Mix 0.4 - 0.8 fl oz of Permethrin in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1000 sqft, use the higher rate for faster knockdown and increased residual control. Dense or excessive (greater than 3 inches) lawn height and arid conditions may require higher volume application rates. Repeat application if necessary.

According to the Permethrin SFR product label you will mix ¼ fl. oz. of concentrate to 1 pt. water and use 1-2 fl. oz. of dilution to spray on each animal. Spot treat back, face, legs tail and ears. If you would like to "dip" the dogs you will use ¼ fl. oz. to 1¼ gallons water and thoroughly wet the dog to the skin with sponge or rag. Let drip dry.

  • Asked by Kevin from Malvern,ar
    03/17/2015
    Q
Can you apply Permethrin SFR directly to a dog i.e. on shoulder blades, back & tail area like the spot on flea?
    A

Yes, Permethrin SFR is labeled to be used directly on animals. Please check the label for specific instructions on how to apply to your dog. This product is not labeled for cats.

We do have ZoGuard Plus for Dogs that is labeled for fleas. Invert one tube over dog and use open end to part dog's hair. Squeeze tube firmly to apply all of the solution to the dog's skin as a spot on the dog's back between the shoulder blades. Use entire contents of tube vial on each dog. Do not use multiple tubes on one dog. Weigh your dog to be sure you are applying the right dose formulated for the weight of your dog. Separate the treated dog from all other dogs and cats for 24 hours after treatment has been applied.
