    Q
Can Phantom be applied to trees/plants/bushes to treat aphids, scales, etc.?
I think Talstar P works for trees/plants/bushes but I am curious if Phantom can be used instead? I am going to purchase Termidor for perimeter ant control and I would like to buy another product for using in between the biannual Termidor treatments. I would also like to spray my plants for scales and aphids to to cut off the food sources for white-footed ants (which I have). I would like to use the same chemical for my intermediate spray and on my plants so I don't have to buy a 3rd product. Can Phantom be used that way?
    A
    No,

Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide cannot be used on bushes, shrubs, or ornamentals or outdoors as a permieter treatment. It is restricted to spot and crevice treatments on the exterior of the structure only such as around pipes and similar pest entry points. In this situation, Talstar P would be the preferred treatment for aphids on your plants. Simply mix 0.5 oz. per gallon of water and thoroughly spray the target plant to ensure full coverage.

    Q
Does Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide harm plants or trees?
Tell me if this insecticide harm plants . I tried looking for the info on the label but no mention of that
    A
When used as directed on the Phantom product label it should not harm plants.  That being said, exterior applications are limited to spot and crack and crevice treatments around door frames, window frames, eaves, attic vents, and holes where utilities enter into the structure not out in the yard.

Phantom was applied 1 week ago. Can I mop, or will it lessen its efficacy?
    A
You can mop the area Phantom was treated, but you would need to reapply the product, as mopping will take it up.

    Q
When spaying inside a house for cockroaches with Phantom, how long do you vacate the premises for?
    A
When using any insecticide, you will want to leave the premises and stay out after spraying until all the treated surfaces have dried completely. This could take anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours depending on how many rooms were sprayed and how heavy the product was applied.

  • Asked by Rocky from Austin, Tx

    Q
What indoor/outdoor system, kit, pesticide would you recommend for use around pets?
We have seen sugar ants, carpenter ants, and small spiders inside the home, as well as a few roaches in the garage.
    A
We would recommend using Phantom for both and and roach control. Phantom is a popular choice for ants and cockroaches because it can be used in conjunction with baiting. For general pest control indoors, applications should be made to breeding areas, nesting sites, hiding places, runways, and other places where pests are found or likely to infest. Use 3 oz of Phantom per gallon of water for crack and crevice or spot applications. Limited spot treatment of Phantom dilution can be made to surfaces beneath cabinets, spaces between equipment or expansion joints, surfaces behind sinks, lockers, water pipes, cabinets, or other areas where cockroaches may hide. Do not apply more than once every four weeks. For Spider control we would recommend using Trapper LTD Mouse Insect Glueboards to catch spiders along with a spider web deterrent such as Web Out. Web Out kills spiders and prevents spider webs on any surface that may support spider web development. This product can also be used as a contact pesticide to kill ants, crickets, mosquitoes, cockroaches, perimeter pest insects and other general pests.

    Q
How quickly do I have to use Phantom once it's mixed with water?
I mixed up a 1 gallon batch of phantom/water in a Chapin sprayer a couple of days ago and only used about half. How long does the mixture last in the sprayer before it should be discarded?
    A
The manufacturer recommends using any insecticide solution within 24 hours of mixing. Any time longer than that, can cause the Phantom to separate and lose its effectiveness.

    Q
    roach infestation
My son's house is infested with roaches after using your product on the roaches I can see can I vacuum them up and then spray the cracks and crevices and can I use it in cabinet where food is stored?
    A

Limited spot treatment of Phantom dilution can be made to surfaces beneath cabinets, spaces between equipment or expansion joints, surfaces behind sinks, lockers, water pipes, cabinets, or other areas where cockroaches may hide. Reapply, if needed, every 4 weeks or more. Phantom is a popular choice for ants and cockroaches because it can be used in conjunction with baiting.

Using Phantom along with a roach gel bait like Maxforce FC Magnum along with an Insect Growth Regulator is the recommended treatment program for roaches. Roaches do not smell, taste, or avoid applications of Phantom. This means that Phantom can be used in conjunction with baits (do not spray on top of baits). The residual of Phantom will last for 30 days or longer. Phantom also has a high potency, so fewer applications are needed for effective treatments.

Maxforce FC Magnum - you get five times the fipronil, plus a new technology called ContactX(TM) which kills roaches by contact as well as ingestion. Place bait under baseboards, sinks, countertops, seats, around water pipes, water heaters, dishwasher equipment, in crack and crevices as well as voids where insects harbor. Inspect bait placements and reapply as needed.

Gentrol Point Source Packs IGR - This is the "birth control" that will prevent the roaches from being able to reproduce. Gentrol Point Source is a special Roach control device that contains the Gentrol Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) hydroprene for 90-day control of roaches. Activating Gentrol Point Source is as simple as squeezing the raised end of the plastic, adhesive-back device. This releases Gentrol IGR onto a filter paper. From there, it moves up to 75 square feet, damaging adult roaches and preventing them from reproducing. 20 units per box.

    Ant problems
I have an ant problem. I see them around the fireplace and inside edges of the house. I have tried Demon, Vipor and Bifen without success.
    A
All of the products listed will kill ants that come in contact with the treated area, but will not stop the issue. You want to use a product like a bait or something the ants will bring back to the nest. Phantom is a great product for insects that colonize. Pests can't even detect Phantom, so they walk right over it and then spread it to other insects hidden behind walls or in their home colony, killing every other pest they come in contact with

    Q
I want to spray inside the house aganist ants and roaches, what can I use?
I started to see roaches in the kitchen and I've been fighting ants for a time and never can get rid of them. Is ther a product that can get rid of both inside the house? And outside?
    A

Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is a very good product. It is labeled for roaches and for ants, as well as various other pests as well. This can be used indoors to spray around the cracks, crevices and baseboards in the problem areas. Once the product is dry, it is safe for any children and/or pets to return to the area. The good thing about this product is that it is a non-repellent. This means that the ants and roaches will not detect it when they come in contact with it. They will just get it on themselves and die. Another good item to use is Gentrol IGR (insect growth regulator). This will stop the roaches from reproducing. It can be mixed in the same tank as Phantom.

Since Gentrol & Phantom are only for indoor use, using an insecticide like Temprid FX mixed with NyGuard IGR would be a great combo for indoor and outdoor use.

Will it be ok to use this product on appliances.
Like stove microwave washer an dryer
    A
Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide should not be applied to appliances. It sounds like you may be treating for roaches. Phantom can be applied as a barrier to baseboards, cracks, crevices and entry points. You then want to apply a bait like Maxforce Magnum in kitchens and bathrooms. Please review our Roach Control page for extra tips.

  • Asked by Sam from Miami, Fl

    Q
    Is Phantom worthwhile for silverfish?
Are silverfish social insects like ants and roaches where the transfer effect of Phantom will help eradicate them? Or is it better to use a regular pesticide like Talstar? Also, will IGRs help control silverfish?
    A

Phantom Termiticide/Insecticide is labeled for silverfish. This is important because the good Silverfish elimination relies on treating them at the source of the infestation. This is almost always near whatever food source they are using to survive. Knowing that they eat non-traditional things such as book bindings, and even some clothing materials, you may need to look for them and treat the infestation in areas such as closets and book cases. If you have a hard time locating the source or center of the infestation, you should consider using bait or traps to kill Silverfish bugs. This is guaranteed to work just as well as topical pesticides because these insects are completely driven by their desire to feed constantly. Any bait that is formulated to attract other sugar seeking insects such as ants will work well against silverfish as well. One primary advantage of using Silverfish traps and baits is that it is a “set it and forget it” approach to Silverfish control, and you are not likely to need a second application, provided the infestation is reasonably small.

No, there are no IGRs labeled for silverfish.

We do also carry the Get Rid of Silverfish Kit. It contains all the products you will need in order to get rid of silverfish.

    Q
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE PHANTOM TO MAKE A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE ON INDOOR SPRAYING?
I SPRAYED 4 DAYS AGO ATTEMPTING TO ELIMINATE A GERMAN ROACH PROBLEM. I USED PHANTOM MIXED WITH GENTROL IGR CONCETRATE. I MIXED IT TO THE RECOMENDED LEVELS.
    A
Phantom can take up to two weeks to actually kill bugs after they come into contact with treated surfaces. Phantom offers a delayed kill that gives insects time to get back to the nest and infect other insects with the insecticide. Phantom is also a non-repellent insecticide which means that sensitive insects like roaches can not tell that it is there and they readily cross over the treatment area. Roach treatments should be done every 4 weeks until you do not see any more roach activity. Most people do end up doing between 3-5 treatments. We would also recommend incorporating an IGR (insect growth regulator) such as Gentrol IGR to stop the reproductive cycle of the roaches. Roaches exposed to the Gentrol IGR will become adults incapable of reproducing, thus ending the cycle of an infestation. You may mix Phantom with the Gentrol IGR with a gallon of water to perform the application of both products at the same time.

    Q
Do you recommend Phantom Insecticide for roaches coming up from the shower drain as well as the sink?
Our exterminator has used Phantom and an IGR. We are getting ant sized roaches(nymphs?) with brown horizontal stripes on their backs.
    A

We would recommend Roach Control Kit Rotation A. The products in the kit provide you with two different poisons that they will take back to the colony you don't see to eliminate them at the source, as well as a birth control that will halt the growth of the colony until they die from the other products. You can also review our Roach guide for tons of helpful information for controlling this species effectively. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
