Precor IGR Concentrate should not be used on linens, clothing, or similar items or surfaces that would come into direct contact with skin. These items may be treated in a washer and dryer, or with a steamer. Please see our Flea Treatment Guide for more information.
You can apply cleaning products to your home after the application of Precor IGR Concentrate (not on the areas sprayed with the product).
Precor IGR Concentrate does not actually kill anything and will not kill any flea eggs. It will prevent the young that hatch out of the eggs from developing into reproducing adults. Precor can be used but we would also recommend using an insecticide spray instead of just diatomaceous earth to get faster results. We have a great guide here that can explain the best treatment for fleas.
Yes, once the Precor IGR is dry there is no worries about harm to a pet that lays on the surface of any furniture. Remember that Precor IGR is not an insecticide; it does not kill the insect- it is a product that prevents adult insects from reproducing.
If you have sprayed 3 times in the last 3 weeks, you might be spraying too much product and you are spraying too soon. Conquer Liquid Insecticide and Precor IGR are both great options. Flea treatment control requires the infested areas to be vacuumed before the application, spray and vacuum everyday after the application. If a second or third treatment is needed, they need to be done 14 days apart and no sooner than that. Please refer to our flea treatment guide for more information.
If Precor IGR freezes, as long it was only frozen for a very short period of time, and it goes back into a solution (the way it usually looks), it should be fine to use. If it appears that there are particles floating at the top, the product appears discolored, or the product will not go back into a solution, the product should be discarded and replaced.
Our company and the manufacturer will always recommend that you use both an IGR and an insecticide to eradicate fleas successfully. Keep in mind that the insect growth regulator does not kill adult insects, so you are going to keep finding adult insects if you are not using an insecticide along with this. If you are concerned about certain active ingredients, then you can use an indoor-only insecticide such as Zenprox EC, or a natural adulticide such as Essentria IC3. (Keep in mind that certain all-natural products may have a strong botanical odor.) You may also consider Wondercide Flea and Tick Control Pets and Home for adult flea control as this is a water-based product that is all-natural and can be used indoors and on dogs and cats, too. Or you can use a steamer to kill adult insects in sensitive areas. Be sure you are also treating your pets with a registered flea control product.
Precor IGR Concentrate should be applied to the indoors only so it will not pose an issue for birds that are outdoors. If you have birds inside (they should be removed during application), it should not present a safety hazard to the bird as long as it used as directed on the product label and is completely dry before contact. If your bird has any health concerns you should contact your vet before use.
We cannot comment on the treatments performed by a professional but can tell you that Precor is an IGR (insect growth regulator) labeled only for flea treatments inside the home. The manufacturer of the product has another IGR in their product line that is labeled for bedbugs and it is called Gentrol. We carry this product on our website. You will add this product to a liquid concentrate insecticide that is labeled for bedbugs. It will take multiple products for treating this insect along with non-chemical methods. Below is an article that you might find extremely helpful. We also provide free expert advice by calling 866-581-7378 M-F 9-5PM EST.
It is recommended that you keep pets out of the area while Precor IGR Concentrate is being applied. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for your pet to return to the area. Please contact your vet if you have any concerns.
