Prior to planting Ruschia Nana, it is recommended that all weeds be removed by hand or killed with a non-selective herbicide such as Roundup QuickPro no sooner than 2 weeks before planting Ruschia Nana. If applying a pre emergent such as Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) to prevent weeds from germinating, this should be done months prior to planting as pre emergent residuals generally stay in the soil 3-4 months.
If Ruschia Nana has already begun to establish, weed control may be done by hand removal or with a hoe or cultivator. Herbicides are generally not recommended as this could also injure the groundcover however Roundup QuickPro can be used and then replug the bare spots after 2 weeks. Removal of weeds when they are small is key and not allowing the weeds to flower which is followed by seeds and will create more weeds weeks later on.
Contact your County Cooperative Extension Office for specific recommendations for your region on any selective herbicides and timing of application information.
For Bermudagrass, Prodiamine 65 WDG is applied 1.0 to 2.30 lbs per acre in no less than 20 gallons of water per acre (0.36 to 0.83 oz with 0.5 gallons of water per 1000 sq ft). If treating 80,000 sq feet (1.8 acres), you will use 1.8 lbs (28.8 oz) to 4.15 lbs (66.4 oz) in a minimum of 40 gallons of water (2 fills of the 25 gallon sprayer). Prodiamine 65 WDG can be applied in a single application or sequential applications for year round weed control as long as you do not exceed 2.3lbs per acre per year. For best results, the prodcut label recommends that the application be watered in with 0.5 inches of rainfall or irrigation within 14 days of the intiial application to help reach the weeds in the soil and pevent germination.
Timing is key when it comes to pre emergent applications. In early spring, pre emergents need to be applied when soil temps are just below 55 degrees as once soil temperatures reach 55 degrees, this is prime conditions for crabgrass to germinate. Refer to the Crabgrass Seed Germination Map on page 8 of the Prodiamine 65 WDG product label for general timing in your region or we recommend contacting the Master Gardener with your County Exension Office for exact timing recommendations in your area.

Yes, Prodiamine 65 WDG may be used in a tank sprayer as long as you are following the instructions on the product label. Water is acting as the carrier therefore you will need to determine how many square feet the 14 gallon tank will cover of the 1 acre you are treating.
For example, if your 14 galllon tank sprayer covers 14,000 sq ft, you will use 7.7 oz of Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) per 14 gallons of water to cover 14k sq ft.
Yes, Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is labeled to kill Carolina Geranium (crane’s bill)

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) can injure desirable seedlings if applied before the secondary roots of seedings are in the 2nd inch of soil (not that plus soil). To reduce the potential of injuring overseeding turf, wait 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer, before applying Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG.

We are happy to assist you with your question, however we there are a few steps you need to take to make sure you are using the correct amount of product for your application.
When using a pre-emergent such as Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade), there are going to be a few factors to determine how much product you need to use in your sprayer, mostly what kind of turfgrass you have and how large the treatment area is. You also want to take into consideration how many applications you are making per year so that you do not exceed the annual maximum rate for your kind of turfgrass.
For example, if you have Bermuda grass, the product label indicates that you can use a maximum of 0.83 oz per 1,000 sq ft per year (Table 1 on page 9). If you are making 2 applications per year, that would be 0.415 oz per 1000 sq ft per application. If you are using your 16 gallon tank to treat 16,000 square feet, then you are using 6.64 oz of Prodiamine 65WDG per tank.
While weighing a granule is the best way to insure you are using the correct amount of product, there is a volume chart on page 14 of the label. The 0.4 oz rate would be equivalent to 1.25 tablespoons per 1000 sq ft. So 1.25 Tbsp x 16 = 20 Tbsp or 1.25 Cups per 16 gallon tank in this example.
I hope this helps to clarify. Let us know if you have other questions anytime.
We do not carry the Field King 190571 Lithium Ion Battery Powered Pump Zero Technology Sprayer so we couldn't say for certain what would be best. However based on a cursory Google search of that unit, and finding online it seems to come with the following parts: "4 nozzles included: Brass adjustable, 2 flat fans, and foaming nozzle. Also accepts Tee Jet nozzles." we would suggest using one of the flat fan spray patterns for an even straight swath of product when applying a herbicide such as Prodiamine 65 WDG to the lawn.
There is no time restriction with fertilizers and Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade), they can be applied around the same time following each product label.
The application rate for Prodiamine 65 WDG depend on the type of turfgrass you have. Please refer to the Rate Chart on page 9 of the product label for the recommended rate for your lawn.
Water is only acting as the carrier to distribute the active ingredient and the water volume can vary with each persons application and their specific lawn. It is important to know the water volume you need to cover 1000 sq ft for effective results with herbicides. To decide how much water you want to use, mark off a 1,000 sq ft area (50ft x 20 ft), fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area (1 gallon, 1.5 or 2 gallons of water). This is the amount of water you will mix the labeled rate per 1000 sq ft for your turfgrass.View our How to Calibrate Your Sprayer HERE for a more detailed explanation.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is a pre-emergent that should be applied in early spring when the soil temps rise up to just under 55 degrees which is the temperature crabgrass germinates. Refer to page 8 of the product label for approximate crabgrass germination dates for Prodiamine 65 WDG. Without knowing what type of turfgrass you have, we cannot give the exact application rate specifically for your treatment but please refer to page 9 of the product label for turfgrass application rates.
Quinclorac would be used when crabgrass is actively growing and temperatures are between 65-85 degrees. Typically a Methylated Seed Oil Surfactant is recommended with Quinclorac for best results. Please refer to the Quinclorac product label for specific rates based on your turfgrass.

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) should have a shelf life of between 3 to 5 years, if stored in a temperature stable environment, avoiding extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) is a pre-emergent that does not require a surfactant. Those would only be added with some post emergent products to treat actively growing weeds according to their product labels.
Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) should be applied during dry weather and then you water it in to get the barrier down. You can apply right before rain for watering in as long as not a downpour/heavy rain. It only needs to be watered in 1/2 inch. You would not want to apply during a rain storm as that can wet the granules in the hopper making them clump and not apply evenly.
Please refer to the product label for more information and application rates.
The Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) can treat between 2-10 acres depending on the usage rate required for your needs.
Please refer to the product label to find the application rate based on your turfgrass.
