Howard Johnsons Dimension 0.27G Herbicide is a granular pre-emergent herbicide used for season-long control or suppression of listed annual grasses and broadleaf weeds including poa annua, bittercress, carpetweed, chickweed, crabgrass, oxalis, and spurge (see label for complete list). Containing the active ingredient Dithiopyr, this weed preventer is recommended for use in established cool and warm season lawns, ornamental landscape areas, ornamental turf (including golf course fairways, roughs and tee boxes) and container and field-grown nursery ornamentals.
While this weed preventer does not control established weeds, it does provide control of crabgrass in the early stages of development as long as applications are made to crabgrass prior to the first tiller or 3-leaf growth phase.

The Ideal Herbicide for my St. Augustine Lawn

Initial TurfBox application for 2022. Arrived quickly. Easy application using my Scott's Speedy Green broadcast spreader set to 5. The only drawback is that there are no recommended spreader settings listed on the package label/insert as indicated in the DoMyOwn instructions. Looking forward to a great lawn this year.

I just put the product down today Was very confused as to what setting I should have set my Scott's Turf Builder Spreader at. So I varied it as I saw it I will let you know in several months.

Not quite up to the task . . .

Purchased as part of an annual program to control weeds and fungus. This pre-emergent didn't quite prevent weed growth the way I expected. Still quite a lot of weed activity - let's see how the crab grass activity is later in the season. I hope the fungicides that are going to be shipped perform better than this.

The rates for Howard Johnsons Dimension 0.27G Herbicide range from 2.3 to 3.4lbs per 1000 sq ft and 3.4 to 4.25 lbs per 1000 sq ft depending on the weeds you are targeting. Please refer to the chart for the weeds listed on page 1 of the product label for more information.

Unfortunately, we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo, and since the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their bag we are unsure what the exact setting would be. Due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, there isn't a master list that exists. You may want to try calling the manufacturer of your spreader or the chemical itself directly, to see if anyone on their staff has that info. Otherwise, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates.

Per the product label for Howard Johnsons Dimension 0.27G Herbicide you must wait at least 12 weeks to see treated areas.
