The Advantage Fly Trap has a unique patented top and bottom entry that allows the included "fly banquet" lure to attract and trap nuisance flies from over 30 feet away! Simply remove the inner liner and clean it out or throw it away. Advantage fly traps are simple and easy to use, easy to clean, environmentally safe, and effective. Trap measures 10.75"h x 6.8" w.

The included Fly Banquet lure will attract stable flies, blow flies, house flies, and large gnats. It contains no chemicals and is environmentally safe.

Tips for use:
1. Add enclosed packet of Fly Banquet lure into the trap liner.

2. Add water to the fill mark

3. Close the top of the trap

4. Hang trap in a bright, sunny outdoor area with little wind, where flies are a problem. Allow 24-48 hours for the lure to fully activate.

5. Remove and discard the inside liner when it is full of dead flies and insects (usually every 10 days).

Tips for fly trap placement:

  • When temperatures rise above 80 F degrees, traps are best when placed in shaded areas. As temperatures fall below this, fly activity will diminish and they will seek warmer areas. Move the trap into sunny areas at this point.
  • Flies search low for food sources-Traps are most effective when placed 24" or less from ground level. Place traps at various locations and heights to determine the most effective placement.
  • Avoid strong winds, since these traps work best in low winds.
  • Depending on the temperature, allow 24-48 hours for the Banquet Lure to activate.
  • When the trap is full or after 1-4 weeks of trapping, empty the trap and replenish with new attractant.
  • Always dispose of the dead flies away from your fly traps. Do not empty dead flies on to the ground, this may become an additional breeding area for flies.

    Advantage Fly Trap Works Great

    By Larry on 07/06/2010

    Verified Purchase

I purchased this because the flies are terrible this year. Within 3 days it reduced the amount of flies from about 10 always on me to less than 1 - 2 each time I sit out on the patio. Now I have to get a couple more for the front porch and back of the barn. My wife is not real crazy about the smell so I moved it off the patio. I told her just put it there to get it under control then moved it about 25 feet out in the yard. Still able to sit outside comfortably. Thanks again

Attracts More Flies than it Catches

    By Craig on 06/04/2016

Best combination is to use this or other fly trap with a kill bait sitting on top of the trap; double whammy kill and trap . Unless you empty the trap every few days, it will attract more flies into the area than it can handle. Adding additional traps only compounds the problems. If you clean weekly, it is not enough. After a few days, it attracts flies by the thousands, actually making the fly problem worse and more concentrated. I live in a S Florida residential area, so finding the source of the flies is not possible. We have to much decaying vegetation and moisture, plus neighbors do not diligently pick up their dog feces and if they do pick the stuff up, they just leave it uncovered in their trash for flies to breed. Suggested improvements, make it clear so you can see what's going on inside, make it larger so it holds more water, make it a top down entry only to increase the inside area for more dead flies. The cheap fly trap bags are just as effective, you can see what's going on inside, they're easy to dispose and you don't have to clean them out, just bag and toss them. I'm glad I only bought one advantage fly trap.

    Works Great

This fly trap worked perfectly to rid us of the pesky horse flies that attack us while we are trying to enjoy our pool! We went to not being able to stay out there at all, to laying on floats and relaxing almost instantly! Thank you for this great trap. The only down side is changing it after couple of weeks, worst smell ever and so many flies!! Yuck!

It works, is cleverly built, and easy to use

    By Thomas on 08/13/2013

I have an old jug type fly trap. it works. it's a mess to clean. Real nasty. The Advantage Fly Trap with the Advantage Fly Banquet works better. after 48 hours, i was amazed at the amount of flies it caught. The bottom entry seems to work great. I have it hanging about 6 inches off the ground - where the flies tend to spend the most time. It also has the top entry holes like the jug type of trap. A really big plus is the disposable liners. You can just pull it out and throw it away - no washing out dead, rancid flies. It's very sturdy, almost clever the way it opens and closes, quick to set up. And no mess with the freeze-dried bait - if you have ever gotten liquid fly bait on your fingers or spilled it, you know what i mean. It costs a little more, but in my opinion, well worth it. I seldom write reviews, but thought this series of products deserved a mention. And, DoMyOwnPestControl has one of the better sites, and the order was processed and delivered quickly.

    Works Well!!

    By Rb on 08/15/2012

Significantly cut down the blow fly population within 19 days. We hung it from a metal "shepherd's hook" plant holder. Liners and lure last a good amount of time.

Q
Does the Advantage Fly Trap work against biting horse flies like the deer fly and yellow fly?
A
No, the Advantage Fly Trap will not work for horse flies or deer flies. Biting flies are drawn to different environments than non biting flies like cluster flies or house flies. Because of the nature of deer and horse flies there is not really a good way to get rid of them. Fortunately, the season for deer flies is rather short, usually four to five weeks in June or July, and three to four weeks in August for horse flies.

Q
Will the Advantage Fly Trap be effective for cluster flies?

Mind you we have thousands that live in the vinyl siding. Looking for solutions in NY.

A
Yes, cluster flies are attracted to the Advantage Fly Trap. After the cluster flies leave your home in the spring, you will want to seal up as many entry points as possible before fall comes around again and a new cluster fly invasion starts. In addition to using the Advantage Fly Trap, we also suggest thoroughly spraying the outside of your home with a residual insecticide paying special attention to cracks, crevices, gaps, places where utility lines enter into the structure, eaves, soffits, door frames and window frames. As you are aware, folks in New York are quite limited by what they can purchase. We recommend Essentria IC3, a natural concentrated liquid insecticide that will leave a long lasting residual.

Q
Is the Advantage Fly Trap for exterior use only?
A
Yes. The Advantage Fly Trap should only be used outdoors. The Advantage Fly Banquet Lure has an odor that would not be welcome indoors. We do carry a full line of indoor fly light traps and fly glue traps to fit just about any fly control need.

Q
Would the Advantage Fly Trap work for fruit flies for fruit trees like guava or fig trees?
A

The Advantage Fly Trap is intended for larger filth flies such as blow flies, house flies, stable flies, larger gnats, and cluster flies. It may catch a few of the fruit flies, but it would not amply compete with decaying fruit from the trees. Be sure to pick ripe fruit and remove fruit that has fallen to the ground as quickly as possible to reduce the breeding ground for fruit flies.
