Spring transition is when warm season lawns are most sensitive and can be injured by post emergent herbicide applications. During this time it would be best to spot treat weeds directly with Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide vs broadcasting across the entire lawn to prevent injury.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is safe for Bermuda, just do not apply it while it is transitioning. Keep in mind that Q4 will not work if soil temperatures are below 55 degrees for weeds listed on the product label.
We recommend waiting about two weeks or more after applying Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide before you aerate or dethatch the lawn. This is to allow enough time for the target plants to die completely before you dig up their roots.
The application rate of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide varies depending on what type of truf grass you have. Cool Season Grasses: 2.6 - 3 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. (7 - 8 pints per acre) Warm Season Grasses: 1.8 - 2.6 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. (5 - 7 pints per acre)
Repeat treatments can be done at 30 days but you are limited to 2 broadcast applications a year but you can spot treat up to the max rate per area per year as directed on the product label.
A post-emergent such as Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide can be applied at the same time as a pre-emergent or 2-3 days after an application. You just need to make sure the temperatures are above 55 degrees for the most effect treatment.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is labeled for Dandelion
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not labeled to be used around ornamentals/groundcover as it could injure them. It is only for use in turfgrass areas.
Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide product label can safely be applied to Shore Juniper, Blue Rug Juniper, and Blue Star Juniper as a direct or over the top spray for broadleaf weeds
Grass Out Max will not harm juniper when used as directed on the product label to treat for grassy weeds. You should avoid applying Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide where there are desired ornamentals, shrubs, trees, groundcovers, flowers and landscaped beds. It should only be applied to listed, established turfgrasses for the targeted weeds as directed.
Per the label Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not safe for use on bent grass.
Q4 Plus Turf is labeled to control morning glory. It is best applied whenever weeds are actively growing and healthy. Best when they are young. You would just apply early morning before temperatures reach too high during the day.
Unfortunately, creeping chaffweed (also known as Khaki weed) isnt a listed targeted weed on the label.
The only post emergent we carry labeled for khaki weed is Monument 75WG Herbicide which is pretty expensive. Please note this product is designed for use on larger areas and is not availble in smaller sizes. We suggest speaking with your county extension office for advice on what others in your area may be using. We wouldn't recommend mixing Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide with TZone as they both have the same active ingredients with Q4 containing 1 extra. The combination would burn your lawn. At this time (August), it would be best to apply a pre-emergent in the spring as anything applied to the crabgrass right now would have little effect.
Q4 Plus is labeled for spurge. Spurge responds best to post-emergent weed killer when the weeds are young; mature weeds are harder to kill. You will most likely need to complete multiple post-emergent herbicide treatments.
If you will be seeding the area, turf species listed on the product label can be seeded one week after the application of the Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide.
Q4 Plus is not labeled to control deers tongue grass.
The only thing we are aware of to get rid of deer tongue grass is a non selective such as Roundup QuikPRO. Otherwise, we recommend contacting your local extension office to see if they know of anything else,
Q4 Turf Herbicide should not be applied to Centipede or St Augustine turf.
We do not recommend mixing anything with the Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide as it has 4 active ingredients and could counteract other herbicides.
Yes, Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide should work similarly to Speedzone but with grassy weed control as well. Another alternative would be Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone. Both products are safe for Bermuda but you will need to check the label of both to ensure they target the weeds you trying to control
