Product Overview

Rat X is a non-toxic rodent bait that kills rodents without harming any other species. Rat X is made from 100% natural ingredients - it can even be used inside food handling facilities. The mice and rats will eat the bait like a food source and Rat X will cause dehydration. Mice and rats have stomach sensors that tells them when they are thirsty. When they eat this bait, it turns off their stomach sensors and it can no longer tell their brain to drink water. They have no desire for drinking water so they will just go back to their burrow, and begin the cycle - dehydration, failing kidneys, coma and then death. Great product to use around animals and children because it is safe and non toxic.

OUTDOOR USE: Place bait points where there are signs of rodent activity, like fresh droppings or near burrows, runways, feeding places and at points of entry around the perimeter of buildings. Place 40-60 grams or 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of RatX per rat and 10-15 grams or 1/3 or 1/2 ounce per mouse into bait stations or wrap in clinging food packaging film and place in drainpipes, open ended boxes or under sheets of metal/wood secured at an angle against a wall (to keep the bait point dry) at intervals of approximately 6 feet , reducing to approximately 4 feet in areas of high infestation. Protect bait points from non-target animals and (as the baits must be kept dry) from water. Inspect bait points frequently and replace any eaten bait. Replace any baits which become wet and re-site in a dry location. If you require more bait trays within the activity area, we suggest you use flowerpot saucers or something similar. RatX can also be placed directly into rat holes, nesting or feeding areas. Wrap 40-60 grams or 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of RatX per rat and 10-15 grams or 1/3 or 1/2 ounce per mouse in clinging food packaging film and push down the burrow. By Catrina on 08/08/2013

I am so impressed!!! I bought this at the recommendation of a friend and set up baggies around the yard, MY DOG FOUND THEM AND ATE THEM!!!! (He eats everything as his name is "Chomper"). I was so scared as he took down at least 3oz of the stuff. The Amazing part was NOTHING was wrong with Chomper at all. Not that day or even a few days later!!! No Vet bills, no Rats and it was inexpensive. This product is Amazing!!!!

    This product does not work.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
Rat X is a multi-feed bait, so rodents do have to consume quite a bit over time to get a lethal dose. You also want to be sure the eliminate any competing food sources when using Rat X. This bait is excellent when there is concern about non-target animals coming into contact with the bait, however, since it is not toxic to pets or people.

    Wow!

    By Stacey on 08/06/2013

I have young kids and puppies so treating for pests has always been a problem or a fear but knowing RatX is safe put my mind at ease. It was so easy and I didn't need help either. The rats went right for the wrapped up pellets within a day the small ones were dead and a couple later the larger ones. Woohoo!! No more rats or noise at night in my attic or garage! Thanks RatX!

    Great Product and Definitely Works!

    By Cedric on 03/09/2016

Great product it didn't take 4-5 days to work it took only 2 days for my problem. I placed it in plastic bags in the activity areas on Sunday nite by Tuesday I noticed my 2nd placement hadn't been touched by Friday still 2nd feeding was still there. Unfortunately they didn't come out to go into their coma now I'm dealing with the horrible smell of dead rodents in my walls! :'( If there's a way around dealing with the death smell it would be great....But overall I'm impressed! !

Q
Is Rat X safe for chickens?

I have chickens and would like to put the throw packs out there

A

Rat X is safe for chickens & other animals as long as used in a secure bait station. If you throw the pack out there openly, it is not only illegal but you are also putting other animals at risk of consuming it.

Q
Can Rat X be ground or mixed with peanut butter or cat food to attract them to the bait? The rodents are avoiding the Rat X and looking for options.
A

We cannot advise that you grind the Rat X up or add it to any other substance as that would be an off label use of the product. If the rodents are avoiding the Rat X that is usually due to other competing food sources in the environment that need to be eliminated if possible to force them to eat your bait. We cannot say if using the Rat X with other materials would prevent the formulation from working correctly in the rodents stomach. You are welcome to contact the manufacturer directly if you have more specific use questions about the bait. You can reach them at 914-376-7387.

Q
Will RatX work (eventually) if rodents have a reliable water source? Also considering using RatX and peanut butter separately in a few snap traps, would this be recommended?

I am finding droppings on one specific area of the pool deck, around the base of a "bottle tree". I suspect they are eating the pods off the tree and MAYBE drinking the pool water. I have confirmed they are living/hiding under the pool equipment by using used coffee grounds in the holes. Each morning I find the coffee grounds spread outside of the entry hole. I am thinking RatX as a feeding treat alongside snap traps - some baited with peanut butter and others baited with RatX. Any suggestions?

A

Rat X could be used in the area around the pool equipment where rodent activity has been confirmed or in burrows where the rodents are nesting and access points have been identified. Per the product label, wrap 40-60 grams (1.5 to 2 oz) of RatX per rat and 10-15 grams (1/3 to ½ oz) per mouse in clinging food packaging film and push down the burrow.

Please NOTE: RatX is no longer available.

Snap traps can be used inside specific tamper resistant bait stations to catch and kill the rodents as they enter the station for the bait however would not be recommended out in the open.

In other areas around the pool, lawn and home, we would recommend using a rodneticide such as Fastrac Blox in tamper resistant bait stations to protect the bait from rain, debris as well as non target animals and children. Take a moment to view our How to Get Rid of Rats Treatment Guide and Rodent Kits that come with a 4lb pail of Fastrac and either 6 rat bait stations or 12 mouse bait stations depending on which you are targeting.

Q
Do rats develop a resistance or aversion to Rat X?

It seems they ate it at first but now they aren't.

A

It is a good idea to rotate the rodenticides you are using every few applications to prevent any possible resistance issues, but also to keep the bait as attractive as possible. If the rodents are around the same food based ingredients all the time, and they possibly have other food sources in the area, then they will not be as attracted to the bait anymore.

Q
If I crush up Rat X and mix with peanut butter will it still kill the Rat if eaten?
A

Rat X should not be mixed with anything as this can cause the bait to sour/mold faster.  If rats are not going for it, you need to be sure all other competing food sources are eliminated.  Rats are also neophobic which means they are resistant to anything new in their environment, so it can take time for them to adjust to the bait being food, up to 1-3 weeks.  If you have rats inside, it is also not recommended to use bait as you cannot control where they are going to die.

For rodents inside, it is best to use snap traps and glueboards so you can control where they are going to die.  You should also seal up all cracks and crevices outside that are allowing them access to inside.  Using tamper resistant bait stations with a rodenticide outside would also help if they are coming and going. We have some guides below that can help as well:

Q
Will Rat X kill squirrels?

I have squirrels & mice / rats that eat from bird feeders.

A

Rat X has not been tested on squirrels therefore we cannot advise on the lethal effects it may have. Since squirrels are not a target pest listed on the product label, using it for this purpose would be considered off-label and not recommended

NOTE: Rat X is no longer available. Please see our other Rat Baits for an alternative.

Q
Rodents are eating Rat X but it's not killing them. I am still see signs of rodents gnawing on soap pads, sponges, house shoes etc.
A

The kill time for Rat X can take anywhere between 5-7 days. The mice and rats will eat the bait like a food source and Rat X will cause dehydration. You want to continue to bait as long as their is activity to ensure full control.

View our Rat Treatment Guide for more information and treatment recommendations.
