Safari 20 SG Insecticide can be applied using many different types of application equipment. Apply in sufficient water to ensure good coverage of ornamental plants. Tank mixing with a surfactant will produce better coverage when making applications to plants with hard to wet foliage such as holly or pine. If concentrate or mist type spray equipment is used, apply the same amount of Safari 20SG on the sprayed area as would be used in a dilute solution. To assure optimum effectiveness, Safari 20SG must be placed where the growing portion of the target plant can absorb the active ingredient. Applications can be made to foliage or as a soil drench.

Killing Spotted Lanternflies in Eastern PA
By James on 08/16/2019
used product to kill infestation of Spotted Lanternflies in Lancaster County, PA. Used Safari 20SG (recommended by PA Department of Agriculture) as a root drench on a pair of "Tree of Heaven" to create trap trees. Was done about 4 weeks ago. Trees or now covered with Lanternflies and the ground is covered with dead Lanternflies. I am very pleased, hopefully it will continue to kill Lanternflies until winter comes. Can send pics if you want them

White flies on coconut trees
By Doug on 04/27/2013
I followed directions and applied four times over a three week period. It didn't have any effect on white flies on coconut trees in SW Florida. I used Dominion 2L and it worked with one treatment in three weeks. Only cost $75 for three bottles to do 20 trees. Spent over $500 on Safari. Very disapointed. DMOPC was excellent to deal with on both products.

Great product! Directions for use on palms would be helpful
By Cheryl on 09/05/2016
We just got around to using this product a few weeks ago. We used it to treat our sago palms for Cycad Aulacaspis scale. This product was what our County Extension recommended. There were no specific directions for what amount to use for sago palms, so we guessed at what strength to try. We used one teaspoon per gallon of water and used a hand pump sprayer to apply it. Within just a few days we noticed a big improvement in our palms. The scale became powdery and fell off when brushed, so we used a garden hose on high pressure to blast a lot of it off. We followed up the initial treatment with Safari a couple of weeks later, and the scale is nearly all gone from the palms now. We will treat a third time in a few more weeks, and I fully expect the Safari to eradicate the scale after that.

By Jeff on 05/28/2014
I was going to purchase safari for use in my IPM along with spinosad and Thiamethoxam but the Alpine WSG seems to be a better buy.

I applied Safari as a drench and need to know how long before I can foliar spray the same tree. How many days between a drench and a spray? Thank you.
Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran you can do both methods at the same time, so long you are following all label instructions. Find the label here.
Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran is not labeled for spider mites or "cedar mites".
Talstar P would be recommended for the treatment of Spider mites. Apply at the rate of 0.5 fl oz to 1.0 fl oz per gallon of water to the base, trunk, branches, limbs, and foliage.
Per the product label, best results are achieved when treatments are applied during spring to mid-summer, and the addition of a surfactant or horticultural oil may increase the effectiveness of Talstar P for treating Spider Mites.
I am treating a row of elm trees that are spaced 15 feet on center. Will I overdose them if the roots from neighboring trees are in the same area as the tree I am treating?
You will not need to lower the dosage when using Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran as long as you drench around each induvial tree based on the DBH, it will not be too much product.
I get recurring thrips , sucking on leaves. they start when bringing the big plants inside in Fall, by December the bugs are damaging. What do you recommend other than the standard sprays at nurseries. I just bought Dinotefuran...should I use it? (I can move the plants to the garage to spray) I realize it is not recommended for indoor plants but seems like many people are doing that.
Can I use Safari to treat scale on a 15 foot tall fishtail palm in a 22 inch self-watering pot?
Yes, Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran is able to be used on containerized ornamental plants.
I measured the Hemlock tree and it is 71" in circumference. If my calculations are correct this breaks down to 22.6" in diameter. How much Safari is required for one gallon of water?
Please view the product label for more information.
The hemlock is severely infested. How much do I measure using the plastic measuring cup that came with Safari and how much water for bark spraying?
The rate for Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran is 12-24 oz per gallon depending on bark type and thickness. 1 gallon of spray solution will typically cover 65-85" of cumulative trunk diameter (1.5-2.0 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter) when applied to trunk between soil surface and 4-5 feet above soil surface.
A hemlock measuring 27 inches in circumference would be a DBH (Diameter at Breast Height) of 8.5 inches.
Please view the product label for more information.
Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran cannot be applied with a hose-end sprayer as it will not give you the treatment or coverage that you need. It needs to be applied with a low-volume sprayer or you can mix it in a bucket and pour it around the base of the trees.
Please view the product label for more information.
To perform a bark spray application with Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide with Dinotefuran, you will want to use 12-24 oz of Safari 20SG per gallon of water. Depending on bark type and thickness, one gallon of spray solution will typically cover 65-85” of cumulative trunk diameter (1.5-2.0 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter) when applied to the trunk between soil surface and 4-5 feet when applied above soil surface.
Diameter is about 10" and 14". I am using a one-gallon tank. I want to understand exactly how Safari to water ratio
Product label says mix "12-24 oz/gal depending on bark." But which one is for thicker bark, the more dilute 12 oz/gal or the more conc 24 oz/gal? Label doesn't say.
