Why can't Simizine be used north of North Carolina?
Simazine Precautions: (3) Do not use north of NC. Does this mean you cannot use in MD or PA? The label precautions indicates the product should not be used north of NC for turf grass application. Are we reading this correct? The precaution is buried down in the details.

  • Asked by Luis from Watkinsville, Georgia
    01/27/2021
    Q
When should I apply Simazine 4L Herbicide in the Winter/Spring to bermuda?
I applied according to the label 1 qt/acre in October. When should I reapply?
    A

According to the label, Simazine 4L Herbicide should be applied in late winter before the weeds emerge for control of summer annual weeds listed. So you want to apply when your soil temperatures have stayed at least 55 degrees for 5 days.

You may contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region.

  • Asked by Jessica from Southeast Al
    04/07/2024
    Q
What are the water recommendations after applying Simazine 4L?
Also, I’ve read some use this product as a pre emergent & some use it as a post emergent. I’m confused on that in relation to watering it in - I’ve read you don’t water for a few days when it’s being use as a post but do water when it is being used as a pre? I want it to kill existing weeds & prevent more. Is there a specific timeframe to water it in to achieve both results, or is that even possible?
    A
Simazine 4L Herbicide is a pre-emergent weed control product that requires watering in after application to get down in the soil and create the barrier to prevent weeds emerging when applied before they germinate. Rainfall or irrigation is required to help penetrate it into the root zone.  Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.
