    Q
    Talastar P vs Bifen IT
I just got a response from another question suggesting this Solo 451 product along with Bifen IT. In all recommendations I reviewed on this website it is recommended Talstar P as safer product. I understand Bifen is very toxic. Can you please explain the differences between both products? My property has a natural pond in the back (200 ft from the house) and it is a wooden area. Thanks
    A
Talstar P and Bifen IT are essentially the same product but made by different manufacturers. Bifen IT is the low cost, generic version of Talstar with the same efficiency. Talstar P and Bifen IT both share the benefit of being a low toxic option with minimal dermal toxicity. However, since you are close a pond we would recommend using EcoVia EC which is a safe, natural, residual insecticide that can be safely used around bodies of water without harming aquatic life.

    Q
We've just purchased a Solo 451 backpack mist blower from you. What is the best solution for mosquito control?
    A
Our best recommendation for mosquito control is the Talstar P. It is a great safe insecticide that can be used in a wide variety of areas to control mosquitoes as well as a plethera of other insects. The Talstar is used at the rate of 1 ounce per gallon of water so you would need 3 ounces for the 3 gallon tank of the Solo 451 unit. Concentrate your spray on areas where mosquitoes are more prone to harbor, like nearby bushes and dense foliage of trees that can hold moisture under the leaves.

How do you mix the oil and gas for the Solo 451 Mist Blower?
    A

The oil and gas mixture will depend on which oil is used inside of the Solo 451 Mist Blower. If you are using the Solo 2T Oil, the mixing ratio is 1:50. If you are using any other two stroke oil, the mixing ratio is 1:25.

    Q
Has the Solo 451 been tested or used to apply herbicides in forestry applications?
Specifically invasive species such as Kudzu, etc. using Triclopyr or Transline, etc.
    A
We contacted Solo and they said that any herbicide or insecticide can be used in the Solo unit. So any product that includes Triclopyr or any other ingredient that would be diluted with water in the tank will work fine.

    Q
    Fogger vs mister
I have 2+ acres in wooden area in Illinois. Zone 5 (if needed). The amount of mosquitoes is unbelievable!! I am looking for a product and applicator that is effective to kill mosquitoes, ticks, mites. Of course I would like an economic option. I found several products like Fogger, Fogger Jr and Professional Mosquito Kit. Also what considerations I need to have because at the back of the property there is a pond and a creek. Should I spray only up to 10 ft before the pond?
    A
We would recommend to go with the mister over the fogger. You could use the Solo 451 with Bifen IT.  By using a mist blower you can apply products that leave a longer residual like the Bifen.

  • Asked by Dave from New Prague Mn
    04/02/2017
    Q
What is the difference between the Solo 2T oil and other 2 cycle oils?
Why do we have to go from 50:1 to 25:1 and of course double the oil mixture? In a previously listed comment, someone stated that by doubling the oil ratio, it fouled the plug. Please advise.
    A

The oil and gas mixture will depend on which oil is used in the Solo 451 Mist Blower.  If you are using the Solo 2T Oil, the mixing ratio is 1:50. If you are using any other two stroke oil, the mixing ratio is 1:25.

  • Asked by Jonathan from Potomac, Maryland
    04/18/2016
    Q
Will Talstar leave a mist on windows?
If I use a Solo 451 Mist Blower to apply Talstar P to shrubs and bushes that are close to a house, will the Talstar P leave a visible residue on window glass? I'm worried that I will not be able to control the large volume of mist from the blower, and that it will make windows visibly dirty.
    A

There is potential for Talstar to leave a slight residue on windows. We would advise to make your application on a day that is not too windy. Be sure to review our video for using the Solo 451 as you can adjust the setting.
