Taurus SC would not be the most effective way of treating for drywood termites in an attic. You can treat the termite galleries in the wood with a product like Termidor Foam, which will leave behind a non-repellent residual that allows the termites to pick the product up on their bodies and transfer it throughout the entire colony in the wood to eradicate the entire colony. You can apply Bora Care to the raw, untreated wood in the attic a few weeks after using the Termidor Foam (you want to give the termites a chance to distribute it throughout the colony to eradicate all or most of the colony) which will protect the wood for the lifetime of it against wood boring pests like drywood and subterranean termites.
Taurus SC Termiticide should not be applied to home lawns or pastures (or other grazing areas). It is intended to be applied around the exterior perimeter of structures and in the soil against the foundation for subterranean termite applications.
Taurus SC's residual, like many other insecticides, can be affected by the elements eventually. As long as the product is applied on a non-windy day and at least 24 hours before rain, the residual will last approximately 4 weeks.
When applying Taurus SC, concrete areas should be drilled every 10-12" apart, 2" from the foundation. You will disperse 4 gallons every 10 ft of drilled holes. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Termites for a successful application.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be used for treating drywood termites in an attic. You would have to treat the infestation directly by drilling into the infested wood and spraying into the gallery. It does not penetrate into the wood so it would not reach the termites that are in the wood unless done this way. We suggest using Bora-Care since it is the #1 treatment on the market for dry wood termites. You would typically just spray it on the surface of the wood and the Bora-Care will penetrate through the wood and kill the termites inside. Also, since Bora-Care is a wood treatment product, it will stay in the wood forever and protect it forever.
No, Taurus SC Termiticide will not interfere with the water lines going into the home. Use caution when digging the trench to avoid hitting your water line.
For termite prevention Taurus SC Termiticide is best applied around the outside perimeter of the home and around pillars in the crawl space. If you have an active infestation in the home anywhere if would also be recommended to trench along the inside wall of the inside wall of the crawl space as well. We have a guide here with more information.
Taurus SC should not harm plants if used as directed. Keep in mind that it is only labeled for use no further than 1 foot up and 1 foot out around a structure.
Termidor SC is not labeled for application to tree stumps. A better option would be Dominion 2L. You can drill into the stump and then inject Dominion 2L into the stump where the termites activity is using a hand pump sprayer. You can also choose to trench around the stump and apply the product to the trench. Dominion will help to eliminate the colony below ground as well as those in the stump.
Taurus SC Termiticide should only be sprayed 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out into the soil around the perimeter foundation of your home for ant control. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for you to return to those treated areas and it is safe to resume normal yard work/activity.
If you are using Taurus SC Termiticide for termite prevention, yes it must be applied in a trench as explained in our guide here as well as on the product label. For just general pests it can be sprayed around the perimeter of the home 1 to 2 feet up and out on the ground but this not effect termites that do not contact the surface. When termites forage they are inches below the soil
You would use a funnel or set your sprayer to a pin stream setting to apply ½ gallon of Taurus SC Termiticide finished solution in each drilled hole in concrete. You do not have to replace the wood unless it is extremely damaged, but you will need to also spray Taurus into the wood where the termites are actively infesting to spot treat it.
When you have any concrete against the home (such as a patio or garage that shares walls with inside rooms) that prevents you from trenching across it, you have to drill holes every 12 inches and treat each hole with roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of mixed solution. Each hole should be drilled with a bit that is roughly 1/2 wide and 18 inches long. Please review the Taurus SC Product Label and our article How To Do A Termite Treatment for all the proper techniques for a homeowner to treat this area.
When doing a pre slab treatment you will need to use 1 gallon of mixed solution of Taurus SC per 10 square feet. You will need to know your entire square footage you need to treat and divide by 10 to get how many gallons of solution you will need total for that application. You will use 0.8 oz per gallon of water.
Taurus SC Termiticide can only be applied 1 foot up the side of the structure, 1 foot out into the soil, and around doors and windows of a structure. In any areas outside of that, it is recommended to copiously water those areas in an attempt to diminish the residual and transferability of the product. Taurus doesn’t kill insects quickly, it’s designed for the insect to pick it up on it’s body and transfer it to other insects it comes into contact with, which can be detrimental for beneficial insects like bees and butterflies.
Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled to kill moles. We do carry Talpirid Mole Bait that can be applied to active tunnels. For more information on treating moles, please check our article on How to Get Rid of Moles for success.
Taurus SC is not labeled for lawn use or any use away from the structure. You would need to apply this product around the perimeter of the structure, one foot up and one foot out. You would mix at 0.8 oz per gallon per 1,000 sq ft and treat once every 6 months. If you have ants in the lawn or inside the structure, we would advise using the other items in our Outdoor/indoor Ant Kit. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Ants for a successful eradication program.
Taurus SC is not labeled for this type of application. Boracare can be used to treat raw lumber to treat and prevent termites as long as this wood is not going to be burned in any way. You could spray Dominion 2L around the wood boards only on the ground but be careful to not apply to the wood.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be used in sandy soil but it would not be recommended to backfill with just sand.
