If you are doing a pre-slab soil treatment, you would use 1 gallon of finished solution per 10 sq ft. So for a 20 x 30 area which is 600 sq ft, you would need 60 gallons of finished solution, or 48 ounces of Taurus SC. Each 20 oz bottle of Taurus will do 25 gallons of finished solution. You could purchase one 78 oz bottle which will do close to 100 gallons of solution. If you are trenching around an already existing slab, that would come out to roughly 100 lineal feet of 6 in x 6 in trench; each 20 oz bottle does 60 lineal feet.
If you are referring to treating under a crawl space and trenching with Taurus SC Termiticide, it would only be recommended to trench along the inside wall if you have an active infestation. However, you should trench around any pillars/piers in this area as part of a preventative application.
Taurus SC Termiticide should NOT be used on pets or used to treat fleas inside or outside the home. It is an exterior product for treating termites and other listed pests/applications against the structure. We do offer products for Indoor, Outdoor and Pet Flea Control. No, it would not be recommended or legal to mix Taurus SC or Dominion 2L at rates other than what is stated on the product label.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be used indoors to treat active termite colonies only as a spot treatment; it cannot be used as a general preventative spray for termites.
Taurus SC Termiticide is generally used to treat the soil underneath a drain. We would not suggest pouring it down the actual drain. It can be applied in a wall void indoors if they know exactly where the infestation is.
Taurus SC is not labeled to be applied as a broadcast over the yard. Protecting the home is most important. Even if you have not seen evidence of termites at the house, we would recommend doing a trench treatment for protection around the structure and piers. For monitoring termites, you could look at using the HexPro Termite Baiting System to detect activity.
Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied prior to pouring concrete slabs, etc. You can trench each individual pier as well for termite prevention. It is very important to apply more around the perimeter edges of the slab, around plumbing pipes that will come through the slab, and along expansion joints if you know where they will be. Since these are the more likely entry points of termites you want to make sure you treat more heavily around these areas. You should take general precautions when applying any product which would be to wear gloves, protect your eyes if it is windy, and treat only in the designated area where your slab will be poured.
Taurus SC is labeled for Formosan termites. It is recommended that you do a trench treatment around the structure. If you have seen activity in specific areas, it is safe to inject the product in the wood. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Formosan Termites for a successful eradication program.
Yes! You can use either Taurus SC or Termidor SC in sandy soils, too. If you are located very close to the water and expect to get water under the home throughout the year, then you may need to consider using a Termite Baiting System instead of liquid ground treatment.
Taurus SC Termiticide can only be sprayed 1 ft up and 1 ft out directly up against the foundation of the structure twice a year at 0.8 fl oz per gallon. It is not the product recommended for stinkbug treatments. Please check out our Overwintering Kit and Stinkbug Control Article for more helpful information on a successful eradication.
The Taurus SC Termiticide will have some effect on termites that come in contact with where you sprayed, however they would have to surface to come in contact with the insecticide since you only sprayed it on the surface, and subterranean termites stay protected under ground or in mud tunnels. Spraying also only has a 3-6 month residual. If you want a true barrier of protection around your home or structure with the 10 years of protection, then yes trenching is nessesary for the Taurus SC Termiticide to bind with the soil and stay there for 10 years.
Taurus SC Termiticide is pet safe when it is used as directed on the product label. The dogs should be out of the area during application and can safely return to the area after the application has dried.
Taurus SC Termiticide is really the superior product between it and the Dominion. If you applied as directed and treated the soil well in the area you would not need to go over with Dominion. If the soil was not wet enough after applying 4 gallons over 10 lineal feet, you can go back with a mix of the Taurus to make sure the soil was treated properly.
In the area where the well is located, you cannot use the trenching method, only the backfill method is allowed. The backfill method instructs you to trench and place the soil that was removed onto a tarp, pour 1 gallon of diluted solution per 1 cubic ft of soil, mix thoroughly, return soil to trench. The complete instructions are listed on the Taurus product label under the heading "Treatment of structure with wells or cisterns"
Taurus SC Termiticide works great as a termite preventative in soil. We would recommend applying Boracare as a wood treatment prior to sealing or painting. Please see our Termite Guide for the most up to date tips for termite treatment and prevention.
Our most popular spray for ant control outdoors around structurers is Taurus SC. This is a liquid concentrate that you would apply with a hand pump sprayer and treat all around the foundation of the structure, treating 1 foot up onto the house and 1 foot out from it on the ground. You should also spot treat places where the ants are likely to enter such as door frames, window frames, and where utilities enter. Taurus SC is pet safe once the application is dry. You can learn more tips and see videos in our Ant Treatment Guide, too.
Yes, you can inject Taurus SC under the slab that is part of the house area. This would be considered part of your termite treatment since they were found active in this area. You would NOT be permitted to apply the Taurus SC to the new wood that is being installed. The best product for this application would be Boracare which is a wood preservative that can be applied to any raw wood and lasts for the life of the wood.
