    Q
How many ounces of Taurus SC termiticide does it take to treat a 20 foot by 30 foot pad?
    A

If you are doing a pre-slab soil treatment, you would use 1 gallon of finished solution per 10 sq ft. So for a 20 x 30 area which is 600 sq ft, you would need 60 gallons of finished solution, or 48 ounces of Taurus SC. Each 20 oz bottle of Taurus will do 25 gallons of finished solution. You could purchase one 78 oz bottle which will do close to 100 gallons of solution. If you are trenching around an already existing slab, that would come out to roughly 100 lineal feet of 6 in x 6 in trench; each 20 oz bottle does 60 lineal feet.

    Q
When using Taurus SC as a trenching treatment for termites, does the inside foundation need to be trenched as well?
    A

If you are referring to treating under a crawl space and trenching with Taurus SC Termiticide, it would only be recommended to trench along the inside wall if you have an active infestation.  However, you should trench around any pillars/piers in this area as part of a preventative application.

    Q
Can I use Taurus SC on dogs for fleas? If so, how do I mix it?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide should NOT be used on pets or used to treat fleas inside or outside the home. It is an exterior product for treating termites and other listed pests/applications against the structure. We do offer products for Indoor, Outdoor and Pet Flea Control. Q
My Pest Control company applied Taurus SC Termiticide in my two bathrooms. Is this safe for me at home ?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide is generally used to treat the soil underneath a drain. We would not suggest pouring it down the actual drain. It can be applied in a wall void indoors if they know exactly where the infestation is.

  • Asked by Jenella from La Feria, Texas

    Q
Can I use Taurus SC in my 4 gallon sprayer?
My house is on piers and I don't seem to have termites in, under, or around it, but I have a 1.5 acre yard that is littered with subterranean termites. Their little "tunnels" are everywhere. Can I simply spray the entire yard with Taurus SC to get rid of them?
    A

Taurus SC is not labeled to be applied as a broadcast over the yard. Protecting the home is most important. Even if you have not seen evidence of termites at the house, we would recommend doing a trench treatment for protection around the structure and piers. For monitoring termites, you could look at using the HexPro Termite Baiting System to detect activity.

  • Asked by Steve from Liberty, Ms
    10/10/2017
    Q
On new construction with concrete piers, can I treat all the ground or just around the piers with Taurus SC?
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied prior to pouring concrete slabs, etc. You can trench each individual pier as well for termite prevention.  It is very important to apply more around the perimeter edges of the slab, around plumbing pipes that will come through the slab, and along expansion joints if you know where they will be.  Since these are the more likely entry points of termites you want to make sure you treat more heavily around these areas.  You should take general precautions when applying any product which would be to wear gloves, protect your eyes if it is windy, and treat only in the designated area where your slab will be poured.

    Q
Should I apply Taurus SC both under the house and outside the foundation?
I have a hillside home and have dirt both under the house and outside the foundation. I have detected formosan termites.
    A

Taurus SC is labeled for Formosan termites. It is recommended that you do a trench treatment around the structure. If you have seen activity in specific areas, it is safe to inject the product in the wood. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Formosan Termites for a successful eradication program.

    Q
Does Taurus SC bond well with sandy soil that is mostly just sand?
    A

Yes! You can use either Taurus SC or Termidor SC in sandy soils, too. If you are located very close to the water and expect to get water under the home throughout the year, then you may need to consider using a Termite Baiting System instead of liquid ground treatment.

    Q
Can Taurus SC be used to kill stink bugs?
I have a left over bottle of Taurus SC. I usually spray screens and around windows.
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide can only be sprayed 1 ft up and 1 ft out directly up against the foundation of the structure twice a year at 0.8 fl oz per gallon. It is not the product recommended for stinkbug treatments. Please check out our Overwintering Kit and Stinkbug Control Article for more helpful information on a successful eradication.

  • Asked by David from Los Angeles, Ca

    Q
It it necessary to trench around a foundation with the Taurus SC for termite control?
I recently sprayed Taurus SC around the exterior walls and foundation of my home. Does this have any effect against termites? or is trenching absolutely necessary?
    A

The Taurus SC Termiticide will have some effect on termites that come in contact with where you sprayed, however they would have to surface to come in contact with the insecticide since you only sprayed it on the surface, and subterranean termites stay protected under ground or in mud tunnels. Spraying also only has a 3-6 month residual.  If you want a true barrier of protection around your home or structure with the 10 years of protection, then yes trenching is nessesary for the Taurus SC Termiticide to bind with the soil and stay there for 10 years.

    Q
Is is okay to apply Dominion 2L on top of Taurus SC?
I've applied Taurus SC with the trench method, then backfilled and then applied 1 gallon of Taurus on top of the backfill every 10 feet. I feel like that wasn't enough and was curious if it's okay to apply Dominion 2L onto the top soil for more saturation.
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide is really the superior product between it and the Dominion.  If you applied as directed and treated the soil well in the area you would not need to go over with Dominion.  If the soil was not wet enough after applying 4 gallons over 10 lineal feet, you can go back with a mix of the Taurus to make sure the soil was treated properly.

    Q
If the foundation of the house is more than 5 feet from a well, can I still use Taurus SC?
I have a termite issue and as a DIY'er I am determined to resolve the issue without paying a lot of money to Terminix. My problem that I keep running into is my well. The well is located about 10 feet from the foundation of my home. I want to know after I trench and treat will I be contaminating my well water?
    A

In the area where the well is located, you cannot use the trenching method, only the backfill method is allowed. The backfill method instructs you to trench and place the soil that was removed onto a tarp, pour 1 gallon of diluted solution per 1 cubic ft of soil, mix thoroughly, return soil to trench. The complete instructions are listed on the Taurus product label under the heading "Treatment of structure with wells or cisterns"

    Q
Is Taurus SC Termiticide good to spray on wood decks as a preventative?
I have a large wood deck that I'd like to treat. We found some termites and I want to make sure they don't make it onto the deck and then in the house.
    A

Taurus SC Termiticide works great as a termite preventative in soil.  We would recommend applying Boracare as a wood treatment prior to sealing or painting. Please see our Termite Guide for the most up to date tips for termite treatment and prevention.

    Q
What is the best outdoor ant spray?
These are just the common ants and every year we get several invasions. We can control the inside with bait stations but need something safe for animals for outside.
    A

Our most popular spray for ant control outdoors around structurers is Taurus SC. This is a liquid concentrate that you would apply with a hand pump sprayer and treat all around the foundation of the structure, treating 1 foot up onto the house and 1 foot out from it on the ground. You should also spot treat places where the ants are likely to enter such as door frames, window frames, and where utilities enter. Taurus SC is pet safe once the application is dry. You can learn more tips and see videos in our Ant Treatment Guide, too.

    Q
Can I spot treat with Taurus SC indoors under the slab and on replacement wood?
I have subterranean termites infesting my hardwood floor tiles (over a slab foundation). Last week I applied Taurus SC via trenching the exterior permimeter of the house (as well as drilling the carport and porches near the walls). I have pulled up the ruined wood tiles in several areas inside the house. Is it safe to drill through the slab indoors and inject Taurus SC below the slab in these areas? I would plug the holes immediately. Also (as I happen have some replacement floor tiles handy) can I spray the UNDERSIDE of some of the replacement tiles (outside) and (after they have thoroughly dried) place these tiles back in the house (Taurus SC side DOWN) on the slab? I am hoping this might help get a head start on wiping out the termites that are active in the floor now. I do not want to jeopardize the health of my self or pets, however. Please advise. Thanks.
    A

Yes, you can inject Taurus SC under the slab that is part of the house area. This would be considered part of your termite treatment since they were found active in this area. You would NOT be permitted to apply the Taurus SC to the new wood that is being installed. The best product for this application would be Boracare which is a wood preservative that can be applied to any raw wood and lasts for the life of the wood.
