Taurus SC and similar products do not need to be airtight once opened. We recommend that you always store insecticides in an area that is out of direct sunlight and extreme temperatures (do not allow to freeze), and you should get a shelf life of 3-5 years.
Both Taurus SC and Tandem Insecticide are great products and very effective. Keep in mind that Taurus is labeled for outdoor use only, whereas Tandem can be used inside and outside.
Taurus SC Termiticide is not labeled for fire ants. The application ratio for carpenter ants is 0.80 fl oz per gallon of water to make a 0.06% solution. You can use this solution twice per year.
You can spot treat using Taurus SC Termiticide where you find live termites in a crawl space. However, it is best to follow the trail(s) you see to find where the termites are coming up from the ground or from a void so that you can better eradicate the colony. We also recommend a full soil treatment for the home if one has not been done in several years and you have found live termites in your home. Taurus SC Termiticide treatment can be spread across several days as long as it does not rain and the trench can be filled in prior to rain.
Taurus SC is labeled to kill millipedes, if you have already sprayed the perimeter of your home some can make it into the home but will eventually die, most insects die within 72 hours of contact with an insecticide. Millipedes do like cool, damp places to live so you can find them under stones, leaf mold, compost, grass clippings and mulch. Unfortunately, Taurus SC is only labeled to be used around the perimeter of your home and no further than 1 foot out from the foundation. If you want to treat further out than that into your yard and mulched areas, you can turn the mulch from time to time and use something like Talstar P every 30 days or Suspend Polyzone would also work and can hold up to 90 days outdoors.
Termidor SC is not labeled for application to tree stumps. A better option would be Dominion 2L. You can drill into the stump and then inject Dominion 2L into the stump where the termites activity is using a hand pump sprayer. You can also choose to trench around the stump and apply the product to the trench. Dominion will help to eliminate the colony below ground as well as those in the stump.
Taurus SC Termiticide is generally mixed at 0.8 fl oz per gallon of water depending on the target pest and application.
Taurus SC and Permetherin SFR cannot be mixed together.
As long as the ground is not frozen and it is not raining, you can apply Taurus SC up against your structure for a termite barrier in the soil and drilled in holes in the concrete. They are active year round but go further into the soil when there are cooler temperatures. Yes, you can! You do not need a license to purchase and/or use Taurus SC around your home in California. You would need a license if you are wanting to use this product around someone else's home for profit.
Taurus SC can be applied at 0.8 fl oz per gallon twice a year (every 6 months, 1 ft up and 1 ft out) directly around a structure. More than two applications of Taurus SC per calendar year can be made only if applied according to one of the following frequency and dilution rate application scenarios. DO NOT exceed the specified number of applications per calendar year.
The use directions include up to four (4) applications per year at the 0.03% dilution rate for outside surfaces and along the foundation perimeter of listed structures.

Taurus SC Termiticide is only labeled to be used adjacent to a structure 1 to 2 feet up and out. It cannot be used in lawns nor can it be used where animals graze. Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait would be a good choice for you. Extinguish Plus can be used on pasture land and there are no grazing restrictions for companion animals.
Yes, grass can be planted in an area where Taurus SC Termiticide was applied once the product has dried.
Yes, Taurus SC Termiticide can be applied around the foundation of a home to control ants. You will mix 0.8 fl. oz. of Taurus SC per gallon of water and apply using a hand-pump sprayer around the outside of the home, spraying 1 foot up the side of the house and 1 foot out from the house, all the way around the home. Bifen L/P Granules can also be broadcast in your lawn to treat labeled pests.
Taurus SC can be applied outdoors as a perimeter spray for ants or using the trenching method for subterranean termites. When applied as a perimeter spray for ant control, the prouct will last for up to 6 months. When applied using the trenching method for subterranean termites, the product will will last for up to 10 years in the soil.
Taurus SC Termiticide can only be used outside as a perimeter spray for roaches. If you already have an infestation in your home you would want to go with one of our Roach Control Kits for the quickest and best results.
