    Q
What rates of Tekko Pro and Bifen XTS do I apply to lawn via a backpack sprayer at 1gal/1,000 sq ft?
Looking to control mosquitos, as well as turf-damaging insects (mole crickets, etc).
    A

You may mix Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator at 1 oz per gallon of water and add the Bifen XTS at 0.32 - 0.64 oz. into the same gallon of water to treat 1000 sq ft. We have very helpful articles on mosquito and mole cricket control. Please take a moment to review the guides below for more information and helpful tips on eradicating these pests.

    Q
Is Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator a repellent insecticide to create a "barrier" or is this undetected by insects?
    A

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator is not labeled as a repellent insecticide however will go undetected by insects as they cross the treated area. There are NO insecticidal properties with Insect Growth Regulators, therefore IGR’s should be mixed with an insecticide labeled for the target insect you are treating for best results. IGR’s only disrupt the growth process of immature insects and work more as birth control to help control and stop the reproduction cycle.

    Q
Does Tekko Pro work on Tent Caterpillar infestations?
I have an infestation of tent caterpillars in an atrium at one of my accounts. They are destroying all the foliage at a very fast rate.
    A

No, Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator is not labeled to control tent caterpillars. Unfortunately, we do not carry any Insect Growth Regulator that is labeled for tent caterpillars.

We would recommend a foliar spray insecticide like Natural Guard Caterpillar Killer Spray with Bt mixed at 2 fl. ozs. per 3 gallons of water (4 tsp. per gallon) for tent caterpilllars. Please review the product label for more information.

    Q
How is Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator applied to the lawn?
    A

Tekko Pro IGR is mixed at 1 oz per gallon, 1.5 oz per gallon, or 2 oz per gallon of water depending on the target pests you are treating for. Applications should be made using a hand pump sprayer, back pack sprayer or mist blower for effective coverage.
IGR’s are most effective when tank mixed with a residual insecticide labeled for the target pest you are treatingas they will not kill insects when used alone. Please review the product label for mix rates based on your target pests and more information.

    Q
Can Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator be used to treat ant mounds?
    A

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator Concentrate is labeled for ants but this product will not kill insects, it works only as a growth regulator to help stop the reproduction. You would want to mix Tekko Pro with an insecticide labeled for ants such as Talstar P which will kill ants when mound drenching or broadcasting applications. Please review the product labels for recommended rates and application instructions.

    Q
I have german roach infestation. Bought Tekko pro, Invicta Gold, and Advert DF. Which do i try first ?
When i am placing in cracks snd tight spots, which is first, or can I use Advert and Tekko there and Invicta higher up same time?
    A
Tekko Pro is only the insect growth regulator that should mixed with an insecticide labeled for roaches (german) like Temprid FX.  Mix 2 fl oz per gallon of water along with insecticide and treat along baseboards, cracks crevices, behind appliances, under sinks, toilets, etc. Temprid FX is mixed at 8ml to 16ml per gallon of water.

You will want to start treatments using either Invict Gold OR Avert DF Dry Flowable Roach bait, do not use both baits at the same time as they will compete against one another. Roach Bait placements should be reapplied every 10-14 days (remove old bait placements) and you should rotate roach baits after 60 days to prevent any resistance or aversion.

    Q
Is Tekko Pro IGR labeled for spiders? If not, what is recommended for an IGR to help control spiders?
    A

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator is not labeled for spiders, nor is any other IGR that we are aware of.  However, by adding an IGR to the tank mixture with an insecticide, you can effectively break the life cycle of some of the insects that spiders feed upon, thereby reducing the spider activity in and around your home, indirectly.

    Q
How often can Tekko Pro IGR be sprayed in the home for German Roaches? Tank mixing with Suspend SC and been spraying monthly, is that sufficient for treatment?
    A

Yes, you may spray Suspend SC once every 30 days indoors as long as you are following the instructions on the product label. The Tekko Pro has a longer lasting residual, so it is not necessary to spray it every 30 days. For roaches, Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator can work for up to 6 months after the application if you follow the instructions on the product label. You may also want to consider adding a roach bait gel to your treatment plan. Please take a moment to review our How to Get Rid of Roaches Guide for more information and helpful tips on eradicating this pest.

    Q
Will Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator kill or keep spider mites from reproducing?
    A

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator is not labeled for Spider Mites and being an Insect Growth Regulator, would not have any killing qualities to it. IGR’s only help stop or inhibit the growth cycle of listed insects and should be tank mixed with an insecticide also labeled for the target insect.

Talstar P would be recommended for Spider Mites as it works well for both the mature and the immature spider mites. Talstar P provides optimal spider mite control during Spring to mid-Summer when applied at the higher application rates and/or more frequent treatments at the lower rate.

    Q
Will Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator get rid of small red and black ants?
    A

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator is labeled for ants for both indoors and outdoor applications however needs to be tank mixed with a residual insecticide for eiliminating insects. IGR’s do not kill or eliminate insects when used alone, they only disrupt the growth cyle and reproduction.

Talstar P is labeled for ants at the rate of 0.5 fl oz to 1 fl oz per gallon of water and can be tank mixed with Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator for a 2 in 1 application. Please view the Talstar P product label as well as our Ant Control Guide for more information and helpful tips on eradicating this pest.

  • Asked by Larry from Palm Harbor, Florida

    Q
Is tank mixing Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator and Permethrin SFR 36.8 the best combination for a contact kill for a severe flea infestation?
I am continuing to see fleas and still catching them on the flea trap. Also using DE Dust on the carpet and vacuum every other day. I don't seem to be doing anything right!
    A

Fleas do require repeat applications and can take atleast 3-4 applications to eliminate fleas and may take even longer for more severe infestations.

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not a contact kill for fleas or any listed insects however leaves a residual to keep working after the application has dried. Even with a contact kill insecticide, repeat treatments are required due to the life cycle of fleas. When treating for fleas, adding an insect growth regulator is definitely recommended as this helps stop the reproduction cycle of fleas. Frequent vacuuming is an important part of a flea treatment program indoors as flea eggs are protected while in their egg casings and flea eggs must hatch in order to contact the insecticide treatment.

Do not overmix or oversaturate the surfaces, applications should be applied no more than recommended per the product label and to the point of being slightly damp, not soaking wet.

DE (Diatomaceous Earth) is a slower kill for insects therefore Cimexa Dust would be a better option for flea treatments. After the spray application has dried, apply Cimexa Dust to the carpet, rugs, and pet resting areas and deep work into the carpet fibers using a broom or stiff brush. Once the dust has been worked into the carpet, vacuuming can resume the next day.

Repeat this process of spraying carpets, rugs, pet resting areas and Cimexa Dust every 14 days until fleas are eliminated.

Our Indoor Flea Kit would be a great alternative treatment for an effective and easy to use treament program for fleas. This kit contains PT Alpine Flea and Bedbug Aerosol and CimeXa Insecticide Dust to offer multiple active ingredients and modes of action to provide a quick initial knockdown of adults and then long term residual control for younger stages of fleas.

View our Indoor Flea Treatment Video for a demonstration of how to use these products.

Additional treatment measures that should be done include monthly topical flea treatments for pets and applying an insecticide labeled for fleas to outdoor areas such as lawns, ornamental beds, landscapes and areas where pets are frequent outside. Permethrin SFR 36.8 can be used to treat outdoor areas also.

    Q
What is the rate per gallon of Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator for mosquitoes and ticks and can this be mixed with Cyzmic CS and ExciteR?
    A

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator can be tank mixed with Cyzmic CS and ExciteR for controlling mosquitoes and ticks. Tekko Pro IGR would be mixed at 1 fl oz per gallon of water with 0.4 to 0.8 fl oz of Cyzmic and 0.25 to 0.5 fl oz of ExciteR per gallon of water per 1000 sq ft.

  • Asked by Kenneth from San Jose

    Q
How can I apply Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator under my deck that is impossible to treat completely for fleas?
It may be that there are other animals under the deck. I am hoping to trap them asap
    A

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator will need to be tank mixed with an insecticide labeled to kill fleas such as Talstar P as an IGR used alone does not have any killing characteristics to it, it only works to help stop the growth cycle. This tank mix solution can be used to treat the exterior perimeter foundation, landscape beds, lawn areas, etc.

For treating hard to reach areas such as under decks, you could consider using an ULV Fogger with an approved ULV Fogging Concentrate such as Sector Misting Concentrate for a contact kill application. Fogging Concentrates do not leave any residual behind but can be used for an immediate kill and followed up with with the Tekko Pro and Talstar P mixed solution for the 21-30 day residual. Fogging applications can be reapplied at 7-14 days if needed.

Catching and trapping any wild animals in the area and under the deck is recommended to help eliminate fleas.
