Details

Tempo SC Ultra Insecticide is a professional-strength insecticide concentrate designed to control a wide variety of indoor and outdoor pests around homes, lawns, turf, and ornamental areas. Tempo SC Ultra provides long-lasting residual control, meaning insects continue to be affected after contacting treated surfaces, even after the application has dried.

What Pests Does Tempo SC Ultra Kill?

Tempo SC Ultra Insecticide controls over 100 indoor and outdoor insect pests, including:

  • Roaches
  • Ants
  • Ticks
  • Flea beetles
  • Spiders
  • Wasps
  • Yellow jackets
  • Beetles
  • Crickets
  • Silverfish
  • Earwigs
  • Pantry pests
  • Spider mites
  • And many other listed insects

Tempo SC Ultra can be used indoors, outdoors, on lawns, and around ornamental plants for broad-spectrum residual insect control. Refer to the label for a full list of target pests for Tempo SC Ultra Insecticide.

How Does Tempo SC Ultra Work for Indoor and Outdoor Pest Control?

Tempo SC Ultra Insecticide is a professional-grade insecticide concentrate designed to control more than 100 indoor, outdoor, turf, and ornamental pests. Its suspension concentrate (SC) formula delivers the effectiveness of a wettable powder in an easy-to-mix liquid formulation that is less messy, requires less agitation, and provides more even coverage during application.

Tempo SC Ultra is odorless, non-staining when used as directed, and provides long-lasting residual control for up to 3 months on labeled surfaces. The residual formula continues killing insects after the application has dried, helping reduce the need for frequent retreatments.

How Much Tempo SC Ultra Should You Mix Per Gallon of Water?

Tempo SC Ultra is typically mixed at a rate of 8–16 mL per gallon of water, depending on the pest being treated and the severity of the infestation. Lower rates are commonly used for maintenance applications, while higher rates may be needed for heavier infestations or tougher pests. Always follow the product label for specific mixing instructions and application rates for your target insect.

How Do You Mix Tempo SC Ultra for Indoor Applications?

For most indoor pest control applications, mix 8–16 mL of Tempo SC Ultra per gallon of water in a hand pump sprayer. Apply the finished solution as a spot treatment, crack-and-crevice treatment, or perimeter application in areas where insects hide, nest, or travel, such as:

  • Baseboards
  • Cracks and crevices
  • Around doors and windows
  • Behind appliances
  • Utility entry points

Tempo SC Ultra is commonly used indoors for pests such as roaches, ants, spiders, and other listed crawling insects. Always follow the product label for complete indoor application instructions and approved treatment areas.

How Do You Apply Tempo SC Ultra Outdoors?

For outdoor perimeter pest control, mix 8–16 mL of Tempo SC Ultra per gallon of water and apply around the exterior foundation of the structure. Focus treatments around:

  • Door frames
  • Window frames
  • Eaves and soffits
  • Foundation walls
  • Entry points and cracks
  • Landscaping adjacent to the home

Tempo SC Ultra can also be used on lawns, turfgrass, and ornamental plants for labeled insect pests. Refer to the product label for specific turf and ornamental application instructions.

What Are the Best Tips for Using Tempo SC Ultra Around the Home?

For the best long-term perimeter pest control results with Tempo SC Ultra:

  • Treat soil, mulch, turf, and other ground areas directly adjacent to the structure.
  • Spray around foundations, doors, windows, soffits, and common insect entry points.
  • Rake back mulch and pine straw before applying whenever possible to improve insecticide penetration and coverage.
  • Reapply as needed based on pest pressure and label recommendations.

Creating a continuous exterior treatment barrier helps prevent insects from entering the home while controlling pests already active around the structure.

How Long Does Tempo SC Ultra Take to Work?

Tempo SC Ultra begins affecting insects after they come into contact with treated surfaces, though it is not designed as an instant knockdown product. Most insects begin dying within several hours of exposure depending on the pest and application area.

Its residual formula continues working after drying, helping provide ongoing pest control between applications.

Does Tempo SC Ultra Kill Roaches on Contact?

Tempo SC Ultra is not considered a true “contact kill” insecticide like aerosol sprays that instantly knock down insects. Instead, it works as a residual insecticide, meaning roaches are exposed when they crawl over treated surfaces and then die shortly afterward.

This type of treatment is often more effective for long-term cockroach control because it continues working after the application has dried and helps target hidden roaches throughout the infestation.

Does Tempo SC Ultra Kill Ticks?

Yes, Tempo SC Ultra is labeled to kill ticks and can be used both indoors in cracks and crevices and outdoors around the yard. For outdoor tick control, mix Tempo SC Ultra at 8–16 mL per gallon of water and apply it to areas where ticks commonly hide, including brush, tall grass, shaded areas, and landscape edges.

Applications can typically be repeated every 21–30 days as needed for continued protection.

Can Tempo SC Ultra Be Used with an IGR for Tick Control?

Yes, pairing Tempo SC Ultra with an insect growth regulator (IGR) can improve long-term tick control. An IGR helps disrupt the reproductive cycle by preventing immature ticks from developing into breeding adults.

For severe tick infestations, many homeowners combine Tempo SC Ultra with Archer IGR for more complete control indoors and outdoors.

Does Tempo SC Ultra Kill Fleas Indoors and Outdoors?

Tempo SC Ultra is labeled to control fleas, but indoor applications are limited to crack-and-crevice treatments only. It should not be broadcast-sprayed directly across carpets, rugs, or entire flooring surfaces indoors.

For outdoor flea treatments, Tempo SC Ultra can be broadcast applied at a rate of 8 mL per gallon of water to lawns, shaded areas, pet resting areas, and other flea-prone locations.

For indoor flea infestations, a complete flea treatment program that includes an adulticide, an IGR, and vacuuming is generally recommended for best results.

Does Tempo SC Ultra Kill Wasps and Yellow Jackets?

Yes, Tempo SC Ultra will kill wasps and yellow jackets that contact treated surfaces long enough to absorb a lethal dose. It can be applied to exterior surfaces where wasps commonly land or build nests, such as eaves, siding, soffits, and around entry points.

Because wasps are flying insects, direct nest treatments are often most effective when performed during cooler parts of the day when activity is lower.

Does Tempo SC Ultra Kill Spider Mites?

Yes, Tempo SC Ultra can help control spider mites on labeled ornamental plants and landscape areas. Spider mites that contact treated surfaces are typically eliminated within several hours after exposure.

When treating ornamental plants, be sure to thoroughly cover affected foliage, including the undersides of leaves where spider mites commonly hide and feed.

Does Tempo SC Ultra Kill Bed Bugs?

No, Tempo SC Ultra is not labeled for bed bug control and should not be relied on to eliminate bed bugs or bed bug eggs. Bed bug infestations typically require specialized products and a multi-step treatment approach designed specifically for bed bugs.

    Outstanding Product!!! NO MORE ROACHES!!!!

    By Lou on 02/24/2011

    Verified Purchase

Our house had a cockroach problem for about 4 years. Tried two different national name exterminator companies, paying approximately $350 a year. Roaches would be found dead after exterminator visit, but after about 2 months live roaches would come back and I didn't understand why. I heard about this product from a retired exterminator friend and he told me how to use it. I ended my exterminator contract and decided to do my own exterminating. I mix between 8-16 mls in a 1 gallon sprayer (can get sprayer at any garden center for about $15.00). I spray completely around the foundation of my house; approx 6-8 inches high and 6-8 inches out from the house. I also spray the cracks in the windows and doors and use a lower concentration in my house. I started using this in 2006 and have not seen a live roach in my house since!! I spray 2 times a year, usually June (when roaches come out) and January. I pay approx $45.00 per bottle and have only gone through 2 bottles in 5 years. That's $90.00 in 5 years versus $350 each year. You can't beat this product!!!!

BED BUGS AND ANTS - INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

    By Anonymous on 08/17/2013

INSTRUCTIONS: for those of you who cant figure out this funny bottle.....remove cap on large section of the bottle, remove saftety cover, replace this cap but leave a slight looseness to allow for breathing. Do this for the small bottle section too. SQEEZE this large section an the small section will fill with the insecticide. Use 8ml for regular use (light infestations) use 16 ml for heavy infestations. Add this amount to a 1 gallon sprayer, and fill with water to fill line, spray per other reviewers guidance, it's all here. BED BUGS: ........ready for this......get this......had some stuff in storage at a storage unit. When we got it out we brought home bed bugs! There is NOTHING on the market but Tempo that will ELIMINATE these little blood-sucking demons. They were not biting me, only my husband, nothing we tried worked, i sprayed the mattress, boxsprings, CARPET, baseboard, walls, etc. Did every room in my house. Basically i went berserk with the sprayer. And i did it at 16ml per gallon. I did wash bedding and clothes in HOT and dried them on HIGH. I "cooked" pillows in the dyer for 30 minutes, 2 pillows at a time. JOB DONE! No more bed bugs! ANTS: We had one of those huge old satelite dishes removed from our yard which turned inside-out the largest ant hill IN THE WORLD and they were PISSED! Their "road" thru our house (1st to the bathroom then later to the kitchen) went across our NECKS when we were in bed! I had 5 products goin at once to try to get rid of the little black ants! None of them made any difference, we were INFESTED! When I sprayed for BED BUGS I "accidentally" killed what I believe seemed like 1/3 of the world's ant population! FLIES: If you have a fly problem this is your solution. We have animals and of course their poop draws flies. Clean and clean with all our might but there were still flies. I HATE FLIES..! With Tempo flies can come BUT THEY WILL DIE......bah ha ha ha HA HA! (she laughed wickedly) PRICE: I bought this product locally for $62 plus tax, never again, THIS is the place to buy this product. BEES: PLEASE don't kill bees! Get a Bee Keeper to come and get them, we need them on this planet. They'll do it in a HEARTBEAT! BUTTERFLIES: I did not spray my flower beds because I wanted to see butterflies and of course FEED BEES? REVIEWS: These reviews are the reason I used Tempo in the 1st place. Thanks for the review process!

Instant Results and Safe for Chickens!

    By Jamie on 10/19/2010

We have chickens so we were trying to use whatever pet/environmentally friendly solutions we could to fight off the bugs. Some of these worked for a while but over time it got to the point where I couldn't even step onto the back patio without dodging roaches, crickets and all other assortment of pests. They were getting into our house through crevices and I just couldn't take it anymore! My dad recommended this stuff and we broke down and purchased it and sprayed the same day it arrived in the mail. We were careful to lock our chickens up before we did. In the morning we walked out onto our patio and found hundreds of dead roaches, crickets and spiders. It was really quite disgusting, but very effective. We cleaned them up before letting the chickens out so they wouldn't eat them. However after we let them out they still found several dead ones that we'd missed so we watched the chickens, fearing that they'd get sick but they never did. For the next several days we threw their eggs away until we felt like the pesticide had all passed. Now we're bug free and the chickens are fine. I highly recommend this product to anyone with bug problems, particularly if you have pets.

    Great Stuff!

    By Mary on 08/05/2010

    Verified Purchase

I have used Tempo SC Ultra for 2 years now and I absolutely love it! It has no chemical odor, kills on contact and also has residual power. I hate spiders and spiders hate Tempo SC Ultra...That is my primary use for it but it takes care of all my insect problems. I live near a large lake and the insect population is high. I use it about once a month from March through November around the house foundation, in the garage and in the crawl space. I find lots of bugs - but they are DEAD ones! Mary Lou Gilbertsville, Ky

Q
Will Tempo SC Ultra kill termites?
A
Tempo SC Ultra will eradicate those above ground termites but will not replace a soil applicaiton or wood treatment. If you are treating for termites we recommend a soil treatment for subterranean termites with a non-repellent termiticide such as Termidor SC. Bora-Care can be applied to raw wood for treating drywood termites. Please read our Termite Treatment Article for more information.

Q
Is Tempo SC Ultra recommended for termites or should I go with the Termidor SC?
A
Termidor is the top rated product for termite control on the market today. The only time Temp should be used is if you are directly treating a known nest. Tempo should not be used to prevent termites.

Q
Will Tempo SC Ultra work on termites?
A
Tempo SC Ultra has a very limited use for termites. According to the Tempo SC Ultra product label: This type of application is intended to be a supplemental treatment for control of drywood and above ground subterranean termites and other wood-infesting insects. You can read more about how you can use Tempo for termite treatments on page 8 of the product label.

Q
Will Tempo SC Ultra kill termites?
A

Tempo SC Ultra is labeled for termites. Please take a moment to review our SubterraneanTermimte Treatment Guide for more information on implementing a successful treatment plan.

Q
Will using Tempo SC on the foundation of my home monthly stop subterranean termites?
A

Termites are not a surface dwelling insect, so applying insecticide sprays, such as Tempo SC Ultra to the foundation will not be a work.  We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment. You can see the guide by clicking on the link here. Termidor SC would be the top product to use for the trench.

Q
Will Tempo SC Ultra kill wood eating termites ?
A

Tempo SC Ultra will kill termites above ground but will not replace a soil application or wood treatment. When treating for subterranean termites you would want to do a soil treatment with a termiticide like Termidor SC. If you are treating for drywood termites we recommend using something like Bora-Care to treat raw wood. Please look over our guides on Subterranean Termites and Drywood Termites for more information.

Q
Will Tempo SC Ultra work for Termites?

Have been searching the questions and haven't found any questions about using Tempo for killing termites. I want to treat the foundation to kill termites showing up in an older house with a crawl space.

A
We can tell you that for termites we almost always recommend Termidor SC. Termidor has a different active ingredient than Tempo SC Ultra and this active ingredient allows the ants or termites to pick the product up on their bodies and move it back to the nest and spread it to the other insects. Tempo on the other hand will only kill the insects that come into direct contact with treated surfaces. Also Termidor will last about twice as long as Tempo when used as a termite barrier in a trenching treatment. Please let us know if you have more questions about Tempo vs Termidor.

Q
what is the difference between bifenthrin and tempo sc
A
Tempo SC is a suspension concentrate that delivers the power of a powder formulation in a liquid. It's easy to use too-less messy to handle, needs less agitation and is more evenly dispersed during application than other products. Tempo SC Ultra has no odor, is non-staining, and has a long lasting residual of up to 3 months. Where as Bifen IT and other Bifenthrin generics control over 75 common insect pests, including termites. Bifen can be used as an indoor and outdoor pest control, turf and ornamental application, and for treating pests in food-handling areas. Both Talstar One and Bifen I/T contain microcrystals that do not break down easily with rain once they bond to surfaces. Both Talstar One and Bifen IT are clear substances that leave no stains on painted surfaces.
