If looking for an insecticide specifically for Brown Dog Ticks, Talstar P lists Brown DOg Ticks on the product label at the rate of 0.5 to 1 fl oz per gallon of water. Repeat applications every 21-30 days as needed outdoors.
These insecticides do NOT contain an IGR (insect growth regulator) therefore it is recommended to add the IGR to the tank mix to help stop the growth cycle of the target insects. Archer IGR is one of the most recommended IGR’s due to that is holds up longer in conditions outdoors and does not break down easily in direct sunlight.

Tempo SC Ultra is not a contact kill but it does have a residual of up to 4 weeks. The time it takes for roaches to die after they come into contact with dried deposits of Tempo SC will depend on the life stage of the roach, how long they stay on the treated surface, and how long the dried deposit of Tempo SC has been in place. You can expect the roaches to die anywhere from 1 hour - 24 hours after they come into contact with treated areas. Tempo SC Ultra is not a contact kill but offers residual control for up to 30 days to listed exterior areas as directed and 90 days to interior cracks and crevices for the listed pests.
While Tempo SC Ultra Insecticide would not completely kill a arborvitae, it will likely damage it/burn the leaves if applied during higher temperatures. If it getting up to 90 degrees during the day, it would be best to apply early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler.
