Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide is labeled for Zimmerman Pine Moth. According to the label you can use 4 to 8 fl oz per 100 gallons which would break down to 0.04 - 0.08 oz per gallon of water. We recommend to figure out how many gallons of water you need to soak the trunk thoroughly before mixing the product and applying it. Also, check with your local cooperative extension office for the best time of application in your area as some literature states that Spring applications have proven most effective and late Summer and Fall applications haven't been very effective.
If you are just doing a topical treatment with Tengard SFR, if termites come in contact with the treated area, they will die. However, if you are treating for an active infestation, it is recommended that you dig a trench around the structure and pour the solution into the trench. A treatment with this product will last approximately 5 years.
Tengard SFR can be used monthly as needed for pine tree beetles. There should not be more than 2 lbs of product used per acre per year. You will spray the lower branches and trunks prior to adult emergence.
Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide is labeled for use on non-bearing fruit trees only. Bonide Fruit Tree Spray can be used for a variety of insects on peach trees.
Yes, Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide will kill scorpions both by contact and with the oil that is in the insecticide, however Tengard will not have as long a residual as many other insecticides that are popular for this pest. Our Scorpion Control Kit includes Demand CS, which is water-based and micro-encapsulated to hold up better in sunlight, heat, and rainfall, plus a UV flashlight to help spot scorpions at night and glue boards to help trap and monitor scorpions.
Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide is not really selective so it would kill any bees that land on a treated surface.
Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide is ?labeled? to eradicate insects not rodents. We do carry products to control mice. Please take a few moments to review our article on How to Get Rid of Mice for a successful treatment.
Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide can be harmful to honey bees if sprayed directly or if they contact a treated surface long enough to receive a lethal dose. To avoid contact, spray in the early morning or late evening when bees are less active and do not apply to the blooms of flowering shrubs/trees.
Unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles/borers. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a product like Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide or Bifen XTS. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.
Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is labeled for wasps. The label states to control bees, wasps, hornets and yellow jackets, apply at a 0.5% emulsion. Application should be made in the late evening when insects are at rest. Spray liberally into hiding and breeding places, especially under attic rafters, contacting as many insects as possible. Repeat as necessary.
Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide should only be applied for chicken mites in barns, feedlots, stables, poultry houses, swine and livestock houses, animal hospitals, pens and kennels and outside meat processing premises. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office for a proper mite identification to determine the exact infestation occurring in the home and vehicle so that we can offer alternative product options that will fit your needs. In the meantime, you could vacuum and steam surfaces, launder curtains, clothing, linens, etc in heat. You can also apply encasements to your mattress, box spring and pillows.

Tengard SFR is not labeled for lice and is only labeled to treat scabies mites on livestock. Scabies mites and lice live on/in the skin and hair and we do not carry anything to treat humans. Most folks need to visit their doctor to receive the medication needed to get rid of these pests. You may spray your furniture with a product such as Steri-fab to kill anything there, though treating the home is usually not necessary.
Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide is not a systemic product and should be applied when rain is not expected within 24 hours. It has a residual of 30 days on outside surfaces and can kill bees that come into contact with a treated surface long enough to receive a lethal dose during this time.
