    Q
Will Tengard SFR kill red palm weevil?
    A

Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide is labeled for adult root weevils but may help with red palm weevils if they come into contact with a treated area. Per the Tengard SFR product label:  "Heavily infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them.  Apply to the trunk and foliage."

Imidacloprid, which is the active ingredient in Dominion 2L, also appears to be effective as a systemic for preventing them. You would use the soil drench method.  Per the instructions on the product label:  "Apply 0.2 ounces per inch of trunk diameter uniformly as a drench around the base of the tree in not less than 10 gallons of water per 1000 square feet. Direct application to the root area. Remove plastic or any other barrier that will stop the solution from reaching the root zone."

  • Asked by Dee from Mooringsport, La

    Q
Is Tengard SFR a systemic product?
I've been very concerned about letting my husband spray, because I'm getting bees. If the rains will wash it away, we can spray several days before a rain and then let the rain wash it away, but if it comes back in the plants, it will kill my bees.
    A

Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide is not a systemic product and should be applied when rain is not expected within 24 hours.  It has a residual of 30 days on outside surfaces and can kill bees that come into contact with a treated surface long enough to receive a lethal dose during this time.

  • Asked by Yolanda from Plainview, Tx
    08/01/2017
    Q
How much Tengard do I use for a gallon to spray for fleas outside?
    A

For Lawns, mix 0.4 to 0.8 fluid ounce of Tengard SFR in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet.Use the higher rate for fast knockdown and increased residual control. Dense or excessive(greater than 3 inches) lawn height and arid conditions may require higher volume application rates. Repeat application if necessary. Application in combination with compatible surfactants or wetting agents may enhance penetration.

  • Asked by John from El Monte, Ca
    01/11/2018
    Q
Does Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide kill chicken mite and eggs?
I have a chicken mite infestation at home and in my car. Would this be a good product to use on both?
    A

Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide should only be applied for chicken mites in barns, feedlots, stables, poultry houses, swine and livestock houses, animal hospitals, pens and kennels and outside meat processing premises. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office for a proper mite identification to determine the exact infestation occurring in the home and vehicle so that we can offer alternative product options that will fit your needs. In the meantime, you could  vacuum and steam surfaces, launder curtains, clothing, linens, etc in heat. You can also apply encasements to your mattress, box spring and pillows.

  • Asked by Rick from Coeur D'alene, Idaho
    05/30/2018
    Q
CanTengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide be used for Pine Bark Beetles?
They have bored into some of my trees. Would spraying the tree be the right application?
    A

Unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles/borers. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a product like Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide or Bifen XTS. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.

    Q
How long does it take for Tengard to kill scabies mites and lice?
    A

Tengard SFR is not labeled for lice and is only labeled to treat scabies mites on livestock.  Scabies mites and lice live on/in the skin and hair and we do not carry anything to treat humans. Most folks need to visit their doctor to receive the medication needed to get rid of these pests. You may spray your furniture with a product such as Steri-fab to kill anything there, though treating the home is usually not necessary.

    Q
    Does Tengard SFR kill scorpions?
    A

Yes, Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide will kill scorpions both by contact and with the residual, however Tengard will not have as long a residual as many other insecticides that are popular for this pest. Our Scorpion Control Kit includes Demand CS, which is water-based and micro-encapsulated to hold up better in sunlight, heat, and rainfall, plus a UV flashlight to help spot scorpions at night and glue boards to help trap and monitor scorpions.

  • Asked by Tom from Clearwater, Fl
    07/27/2013
    Q
Is Tengard SFR the best product for indoor treatment of Subterranean Termites?
If this is not the best, which is the best with regards to safety to occupants, especially children? Also, how often should you retreat indoors? Thanks!
    A
We recommend using either Termidor SC or Dominion 2L for the most effective termite treatments. Both of those products are non-repellent and both have a transfer effect meaning that the termites cannot tell that the product is in place and will readily walk through it and transfer it back to the colony. The Tengard SFR  will only kill the workers that contacted the treated surface and is also somewhat repellent. It also does not have a transfer effect.  Typically for indoor termite infestations, you need to drill a hole directly into the infested piece of wood and inject the product however you can.  You should drill into the exact center of the wood.  We do sell a foam product already in a can for termites that is very popular.  It is called Termidor Foam and comes ready to go with an applicator tip.  It can take up to 90 days to completely eliminate an infestation.  Most people just wait and do inspections every so often and only treat when they have an issue

Tengard can be used as a preslab treatment. This treatment will last for about 5 years after the application. Please read over the Tengard product label application instructions to learn how to apply the product for this application.

  • Asked by Kaz from Bernardsville, Nj
    09/25/2013
    Q
What product is good to treat flying moths for my rug store?
    A
We do not recommend treating for this insect with Tengard SFR. If it is a rug warehouse/large area, we would recommend a combination of monitoring traps and a fogger such as Shockwave applied monthly. The Shockwave would help to control any existing pests with both a quick knockdown and an insect growth regulator to help stop reproducing and the traps would help you to know when a new population moves in. You can also consult with some other rug dealers to find out what they have found effective.

    Q
I purchased Tengard as a band treatment
Terminix used to spray Cyfluthrin.007% as a band treatment; Deltamethrin .05% crack and crevice treatment hand duster; Lambda-Cyhalothrin .045% perimeter band treatment; and boric acid 5%mother earth granular scatter bait. I purchased Tengard from you guys and I was wondering if I needed any of these other chemicals since, thanks to you, I am now doing the pest control on my own. thank you
    A
Tengard is a 36.8% permethrin, which will kill a broad range of common household pests. It does help to have an insecticidal dust such as Delta Dust (deltamethrin 0.05%) in deeper cracks and crevices as these are traget places that insects like to hide and harbor. Also, if you have a specific pest that is more commonly a problem in your home, knowing that will help us know if you need additional or other products in your treatment.

  • Asked by Zisha from Spring Valley Ny

    Q
What can I buy in NY without exterminator license for Termite control?
    A
Because NY has such stringent laws, there is a limit to the items that can be shipped to NY. We do have EcoTreat Natural Outdoor Insect Control. It kills and repels termites, as well as various other pests. It is likely that the residual is about 30 days for termites.
