Tengard SFR Termiticide and Insecticide is safe for children if used as directed on the product label. Children need to be kept out of the area being treated during application and until all surfaces are dry.
You would use 4 to 8 oz per 100 gallons of Tengard SFR for leafminers on boxwoods or other ornamental plants for higher volume. For lower volume, you could use 0.1 to 0.2 ounces per gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq ft.
Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide can be mixed with insect growth regulators as directed on each product label for dilution rate.
Tengard SFR leaves behind only a small amount of active to kill insects once dry. It should not affect swans that may eat the grass as they would have to ingest a large amount of actual product in order for it to be harmful. We would recommend applying when they are not in the area to minimize contact with wet surfaces.
The rates for termite trenching are 1 2/3 oz of Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide in 1 gallon of water. You will fill your trench with 4 gallons of mixed solution every 10 linear feet.
When used inside, Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is only applied to cracks and crevices. It could be used in the drop ceiling around vents and other entry points that allow insects in. We would recommend using a drop cloth to avoid drift on the floor or other belongings/furniture etc. Please let us know the targeted pest for alternate/additional recommendations better suitable for your needs.
Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is not labeled for scale insects. Bifen IT would be a better option.
Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is not labeled for grubs. Please review our Grub Prevention Guide for the best recommendations.
Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is toxic to bees and can be applied as directed to listed areas such as hiding and breeding areas, attic rafters, cracks and crevices and voids. If you have access to a nest, apply a dust such as Tempo Dust or Delta Dust which will knock down even those insects that usually do not come out of the nest.
Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is safe for use in poultry houses as directed on the label, just do not spray the eggs directly.
Tengard SFR Termiticide is an insecticide and will not affect snakes. We do offer several snake repellents.
Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is labeled for spiders in general but not specifically brown recluse spiders. Talstar P is specifially labeled for brown recluse spiders.
While Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is safe for pets and people/children to resume normal activity in a treated area, we are not sure if your dog would have any sort of allergic or adverse reactions to consuming grass that has been treated with the product. Typically if the surface is dry, it should only harm something the size of an insect. Since products like Tengard can often leave plant surfaces oily to the touch, you may want to keep pets out of an area that looks this way for a few days until its had time to dry and absorb longer. You can also consult your vet or the manufacturer directly.
Per the Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide product label it can be applied to certain fruit tree species (not all) in residential sites only for certain insect control. You will want to reference the charts on page 14 and 15 of the digital copy of the Product Label on our site to see mix rates and pre harvest intervals for the specified fruit trees.
Tengard SFR is not labeled for edible vegetation. There is not anything you can really spray on the soil to kill them. You can use Neem oil to treat the fruit tree and pick up any fruit from the ground.
Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is not a systemic but it will control aphids with a foliar spray. You should never use more than labeled rates. Unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles/borers. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Due to the natural boring behavior of most beetles they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations
For aphids you would need to use something like Dominion 2L for systemic prevention.
Tengard SFR is only labeled to treat scabies mites on livestock. Scabies mites and lice live on/in the skin and hair and we do not carry anything to treat humans. Most folks need to visit their doctor to receive the medication needed to get rid of these pests. You may spray your furniture with a product such as Steri-fab to kill anything there, though treating the home is usually not necessary.
Tengard SFR could be used to help deter bees from boring into treated areas and kill the ones that contact a treated surface. The mix rate is 1 2/3 fl oz per gallon of water and applied along the foundation, around windows, doors, or where insect activity is observed. The residual is 30 days outdoors.
We do actually have a Carpenter Bee Kit that is our most popular product(s) for carpenter bee control. The kit comes with dust and a hand duster to apply in the existing holes. The dust will kill any carpenter bees that are in the holes and will kill the larvae when they hatch. After a few days, all of the adult carpenter bees that are in the holes will die. You can patch the holes at this point. The kit also comes with a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using a one-gallon hand pump sprayer. You should treat all of the fascia boards or any surfaces that the carpenter bees seem to be going after. This will prevent any new holes. When a carpenter bee lands on the wood surface to make a new hole, it will pick up the product you sprayed on its body and die when it grooms itself. Carpenter bees are only around for a short time in the spring, and then again in the fall. You will have to apply both times of the year and then after 2 seasons, there will not be any more larvae in the wood.
View our Carpenter Bee Treatment Guide for more information.
No, Tengard SFR Termiticide Insecticide is not labeled to be mixed with stains or paints. It can only be mixed with pyrethrin based insecticides or insect growth regulators. We would recommend to stain the fence first and after it has dried, then you can treat with Tengard SFR.
BoraCare would be a better option for long term protection against wood destroying insects such as termites. Boracare will absorbs completely throughout the wood and once the BoraCare application has been sealed with a paint, stain or water sealant: this will last the entire life of the wood.
Please view the BoraCare product label for more information.
Termidor SC is not labelled for use indoors unless it is inside a wall void. Termidor SC could be used on the exterior perimeter of the home spraying 1ft up and 1ft out from the foundation, around windows, doors, and under the overhangs.
