Importance of Termite Baiting or Termite Traps

Termites can hide within the structure of your house and getting to them can be difficult but there are several methods you can use that will reduce, and eventually eliminate, the population that infests your home.

Termite bait stations are not truly termite traps as these stations contain bait that works to attract and then kill the termites. Termite bait stations work to eliminate the entire termite colony by allowing them to feed on the bait slowly, so it spreads throughout the colony.

Using termite baits is an effective way to prevent termites from damaging your home and to identify any termite activity. The key to using termite bait systems effectively is to understand the different places where termites travel and hide in and around your home.

What to Use for Baiting Termites

Effective bait stations such as the Advance Termite Bait Station can be used to detect termite activity with its inspection cartridge and monitoring base.

Once termite activity is detected, the Trelona Termite Bait should replace the inspection cartridge in the bait station. The Trelona Termite baits act as a termite killer for the termites found in the termite inspection cartridge.

Fortunately, we offer the Advance Termite Bait System Kit which contains all you need to bait, monitor, and treat termites successfully. Since termites can cause significant damage to your home, it is always important to choose the right products and read their labels and instructions before beginning a termite treatment.

How to Use and Monitor Bait Stations

Proper installation is a must for bait stations such as the Advanced Termite Bait Station, however, it can be accomplished by using the label and instructions.

  • Termite Bait stations should be placed 1 to 2 feet away from the foundation and around the structure at 8 to 10 feet intervals.
  • Termites are not immediately attracted to the bait therefore it will take time for them to find the bait.
  • The termite bait stations should be checked about every 3 months for feeding activity which indicates termite activity.

Eliminate Termites with an Effective Treatment Plan

You can install termite bait stations yourself by reading the label and following the instructions for the bait stations. We offer further information on how to use termite bait stations in our guides and videos along with the information on the product’s label.

While termite bait systems are essential for termite prevention, supplemental products may be needed, such as Termidor, for a holistic subterranean termite treatment. To get rid of current infestations and increase the chances of successful termite treatment you should also use:

Eliminating termites from your home may require more time and effort than insects such as roaches or ants, but long-term control is possible.
