New lawn (2yrs old) supplied by builder (sod and seed) in rocky clay soil (just terrible - 50% weeds). Just plugged some areas with Myer Zoysia and Bimini Bermuda grass (mid/late Aug). I would like to put this down as my fall Fertilizer/Weed control.AAndersons 5-5-25 Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide is not safe to use on your newly plugged turf. The turf must be well-established - usually mowed at least 2-3 times - before you can apply this or other pre-emergent herbicides to it.

This division of the local university is available for homeowners to assist with disease identification, weed control, soil analysis, active ingredient or product recommendations as well as the best time to apply.
Pre-emergents are best applied before weed seeds germinate, and for spring that is typically around 55 degrees for most.

Depending on what seed is being applied, you will have to make sure that the grass is mature and to do at least two mowings on the new turf before applying The Andersons 5-5-25 Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide.

In spring time, you want to apply pre emergents when soil temps reach around 50-55 degrees. For the fertilizer aspect, a soil analysis is recommended to determine what nutrients your lawn has or needs going into winter. Typically, the best time to apply winterizer is in late fall, about three weeks before the ground is frozen but for specific timing, we recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office Master Gardener Division for their recommendation on timing and the best NPK value for your turfgrass, nutrients it may need and for your zone. -

The healthiest, hardiest lawns are fertilized 2-4 times per year, fall, summer, early spring and late spring. We do have a soil test kit here. The ideal time to apply a fall pre-emergent herbicide to your yard is between August and November when the soil temperature is below 70 degrees and dropping.
