We are looking for a product to shoot a jet of foam a safe distance to cover and kill wasp/bee nests. we used to use Wasp-A-Foam with good results, but can no longer find that product. Upside down spraying allows for hard to reach nests. The water-based formulation is easy on plants and the active ingredient is safer for the environment yet tough on pests. This product is a foam, and should be applied in 1 second bursts. The product will hit the nest and expand. You should not hold the top of the can down and continually spray. -

Read Full Answer »Having a nest in a chimney can be a tricky thing to try and handle on your own as a homeowner. While it is something you can do, it takes extra precautions to make sure that you dont end up with a dangerous situation on your hands. Many customers hire a professional for this type of removal and you may want to do the same. If doing this yourself, you will need to first get a very fine mesh screen much like a window screen, and tack it up on the opening to your fireplace where it meets your home. This is to ensure that if any of the nest goes down the chimney, they do not flood into your home and create a hazardous situation inside. Once you have ensure that the screen is tightly in place on the inner side of the homes fireplace, you can go towards treating the nest itself. We would recommend something like Wasp-X which is an aerosol much like other wasp sprays you would buy, except it foams to engulf and expand around the nest and trap the insects in it to reduce the amount that fly back towards you as you spray. You will want to be sure to have on protective clothing to prevent yourself from stings should some of the nest fly up towards you as you are treating the nest from above. You may want to look at getting our Complete Bee Suit to make sure you are protected the same way the professionals would be as you treat. Once the nest has been sprayed, quickly leave the area and give the product time to do its job and eliminate the nest. Once you can tell that the nest is dead you can go about removing it from your chimney, and then clean the chimney to get rid of any chemical residual left behind by the Wasp-X -

It kills very quickly and has a long distance spray so that you can treat the nests from a safe distance. It's best to spray the nests at night, when they have retreated to their nest for the night and are no longer active. Once you've treated the nests directly, you can spray surfaces so when bees land on the surface they will pick up the spray and die. A product like Demand CS can be sprayed around the perimeter foundation of your home, around doors and windows, in the lawn and ornamental landscapes, etc. -

I cannot leave my front door , as soon as I go out they come at me, they are flying around some areas of wood on top of porch in front and then they go to a small bush and the only tree which is a japanese maple We cannot locate a nest but they sure fly around. I am very allergic What is the best product for me to use. I also watched from my car this huge black hairy looking fat flying thing only one kept hitting and flying it had a yellow on top only. This thing was huge. I got rid of all other trees, and bushes no flowering plants and still have these pests outside I am petrified to go out during the day every year same thing and we never find the nests. Read Full Answer »Wasp X is a great product but it is not what you would use to rid yourself of the population if you do not know where the nest is. You could use it as a knock down contact kill product on those that are flying directly around the door. For the population you are seeing you want to try and see if they have an area they consistently go to or crawl around any crevices of your home to try and locate the nest. If they go to a specific bush look around it and on the ground below it for any small holes where they could have a ground nest. If you can find any crevices they may be coming in and out of, you can use a dust like Tempo 1% dust in the entry point for them to carry through the nest. You can then spray a product like Cyonara 9.7 along the beams and entry points of the home and the bushes around the home where the frequent to try and kill them as they come into those areas. Nothing is going to stop more from coming from your neighbors yards though, so a general treatment with the Cyonara to keep the numbers of them down will be needed on a monthly or quarterly basis. -

Insecticide dust such as Tempo 1% Dust applied with a B&G Bulb Duster 1150 would be great for cracks and crevices and void treatments. Also, since these wasps target crickets, you may want to use a cricket bait around the structure, such as InTice 10 Perimeter Bait.
