Advance Carpenter Ant Bait
By Richard on 10/13/2016
It Works ! Finally, after two years of fighting ants, they are GONE. I live in Irvine, CA. Our Woodbridge community is considered to be a giant anthill. Professionals retained by the association could not win. I WON. Use this with the associated product to fight with protein and sugar components and you will win too...

Advance Carpenter Ant Bait
By Faye on 07/08/2017
We live in East Texas, where carpenter ants are a HUGE problem. I had tried Advance Fire Ant Bait for them, but it doesn't attract carpenter ants. We don't have just the kind that I have seen in the house, but there are actual smaller blackish ones that go up the treetrunks and also make little dens all over the yard, and they are literally everywhere, crawling all over our feet outside. This bait for carpenter ants WORKS!!! I sprinkle it around in a moderate amount under the trees near our house, the ants snatch it up, take it into their dens where they lay their eggs, and voila' - they all die. I do this once every few weeks and it keeps them under control. Also, it's very low toxicity to animals, so I don't have to be concerned with poisoning any that might come around. Great product!

Follow up texas - carpenter ants
By Tiff on 08/27/2017
Okay! So the only reason I gave it four stars is because I hadn't to use a combo of things to get the activity down, however; after three days I have killed three queens from the nest in my house. Omg!!! So gross. I kept the bate available for a week. I sweep up the bate off my carpet and found two more queens dead. I found out they were crawling through my window. So I put down some bug be gone granules in the yard and around my foundations. Omg when I did that, it really slowed down. I think I have some young ones hatching because the ones I saw dead are really small and light colored. I will be using the gel next week around windows and the tree outside. Use a combination of bates, gel, advance bait, and outside barrier, you will win! I'm glad they are leaving and I hope they stay away. Keep looking out for them around your house! It only takes one to get in and drill a nest! Heck no!! I pray never again

Works well for ant control
By Kyle on 07/16/2018
I've been using Advance Carpenter Ant Bait for 5 years as a professional. It works great as part of an overall ant treatment, but not as well as a standalone treatment. I use it along with Termidor SC or Taurus SC. Those non-repellant termiticides work great for carpenter or acrobat ants. But the ants will take the bait back to the colony and that helps in eventual eradication. I always tell my customers to check tree limbs touching the roof first, as that is the easiest remedy to keep ants away from your house. This bait should be sprinkled generously around the perimeter where ants are seen trailing.

Doesn't work
By Jason on 06/19/2019
The ants took it immediately, they jumped on it and carried it away right off the bat. Unfortunately, i didn't do anything. The ant colony is still there. I tried treatment 3 times and around the 3rd time they wouldn't take it anymore.

Fire ants love it.
By John on 06/19/2020
I purchased this product for suspected carpenter ants in my house, but the ants I have do not seem to go for it as they like the sweet baits. Not wanting to waste the stuff I put in the plastic bait tray I dumped it around a few fire ant mounds and they did not complain and took it down their access hole only to have their "last supper". I still left some crushed up pellets in my house hoping that the ants, I still have, will take the smaller pieces to their buddies under "covid lockdown". They do like the maxforce sweet gel.

It Works!
By Helen on 07/03/2020
This is the 2nd year I've used Advance Bait to deal with carpenter ants in our yard. Because the ants take it back to the nest and later die, it takes awhile to see the results but the difference is apparent within a week or so. I continue to sprinkle it in areas where the ants reappear.

Advance Carpenter Ant Bait
By Mark on 07/10/2020
I put the bait down as instructed, but the carpenter ants do not seem very interested in the bait. They move right past it, or stop for a few seconds and look at it, but move on without taking any of the bait. So the jury is still out on this one. Does not seem promising right now.

Ants in the pants!
By Mr. on 07/11/2020
Yes, it is true; I had ants in the pants, after spading the back 40 last week. Luckily, Grandma had just received her order of ADVANCE CARPENTER ANT BAIT. I carefully sprinkled a bit all around the garden plot and in my pants cuffs, just to be sure. In less than an hour the ants had consumed the bait placed around the garden and were being attracted to my pants cuffs again. At that point I grabbed a flyswatter and beat them back into the turf. Grandma stood by and chuckled: "See..., I told you Advance Carpenter Ant Bait would work... now maybe next time you'll listen to the old gal!" I got right back to spading, to make up for lost time.

Best ant bait!
By Angela on 08/10/2020
This was my second order. The first order also included the gel bait. For me the Advance Granular is the one that worked! I didn't get any takers with the gel, but they gobbled up the Granular! This stuff is amazing! It works great! We have a never ending supply of ants where we live, but this has cut their numbers drastically! Will definitely continue to use this!

Works!
By Dale on 08/17/2020
We had carpenter ants and tried many things to get rid of them. Was about to call a professional company. After reading about baits, found this at DoMyOwn and thought why not since it is less expensive than a pest control company. Within a week, no more carpenter ants. Several weeks later, still no carpenter ants. I am very pleased with this product and the small amount of product and time it took to rid the house of the carpenter ants. Glad I found this company to buy from. It is now my go to source for pest control.

Great job!!

I applied the Carpenter Ant Bait at night and the next morning the birds were feasting on all the dead ants in the yard. It certainly works fast! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that has a problem with carpenter ants.

Inadequate Product
By Steven on 07/02/2023
Did not work. Followed directions to a tee. Used entire product around my home . It's been 2 weeks and still black ants all around my home. Called Orkin they will be here this Monday. I'm disappointed that it didn't work.
Expert response:
It is highly recommended to also use Maxforce Fleet Ant Gel which is a sugar bait. You should always give ants a choice as they may be in the mood for either a protein (granule) or a sugar (gel) bait.

Amazing
By Joan on 07/27/2023
I put down the Advance Carpenter Ant Bait along with the Maxiforce Fleet . I can't say what happened with the Advance Carpenter Bait as the carpenter ants were immediately attracted to the Maxiforce Fleet. Piles of dead ants at all my giant wood Grizzley, Black bear and Wolf statues as well as a young tree. These are huge statues that have been gutted by the carpenter ants. See my review on the Maxiforce Fleet. The Maxifleet goes a long way. I didn't begin to use a cylinder of this. Would I buy it again? That's a no brainer.

Advance Carpenter Ant Bait works!
By Chris on 06/19/2024
Carpenter Ants were crunching away in my walls so loudly that I could hear them from the next room. It sounded like they were eating up the entire wall. I confirmed what they were (Google and my pest control guy). After researching, I found Advance Carpenter Ant Bait. The granules were easy to apply along the edge of my deck and around the deck where I saw the most ants. They readily picked up the bait and apparently carried it back into the walls where they had been chomping away for a couple of weeks. Overnight....seriously overnight.....the chomping stopped. They continued to come up onto the deck so I spent time (IMPORTANT: spend the time to watch them travel and you'll find their outdoor nest) following them and found a nest next to a small stump. I sprinkled the granules on top of some leaves over the nest and they immediately came BOILING out of the ground. The next day they were nowhere to be found and I haven't seen any since. I found a second nest over 30 feet from the first one by watching them go up a tree trunk over 20 ft high until I lost sight of them. There was a medium-sized dead limb that I assume they were nesting in---I didn't have a ladder. This colony wasn't as interested in the granules, so I purchased Maxforce FC Magnum gel (yes, it's advertised as a roach bait, not carpenter ant bait) but I purchased it because it contains way more Fipronil (plus what appears to be a couple of other chemicals---it gives the formulas----total 0.05%) than Maxforce Fleet (0.001% of just Fipronil). I'm not a chemist so don't hold me to the chemical makeup. I used this gel around the base of the tree plus small blobs (no bigger than a pencil eraser) along their path. They were gone in about 2 days. They looked like they were avoiding the gel and granules but apparently got enough of it on them or consumed enough to take care of the nest. I realize the Maxforce FC works in 2 ways---both by contact and ingestion---and I was afraid it might kill them before they made it back to the nest, but it worked! I also lightly sprinkled the Advance granules around the tree and deck, so the combination of the granules and gel is probably what did it. And you can buy just one tube of the FC vs several tubes of the Fleet. My pest control guy (they have a clause in their contract that states they don't cover termites or carpenter ants) said they either pay over $60 for an 8oz bottle of Advance, or they charge the customer $60 for every bottle they use. Bottom line: I paid $103 for two bottles of Advance granules (I have 1/2 of a bottle left over) and one tube of Maxforce FC (I have at least 3/4 of the tube left over. I don't see ANY ants after the final treatment approximately two weeks ago.

Suppresses the population but does not eliminate the nest
By Raymond on 07/05/2024
Suppresses the population, but does not eliminate the nest. To finish the job, I was forced to locate the nest (not an easy task), and directly apply Demon WP. I followed all instructions for the application of the bait granules and used it in conjunction with the MaxForce Ant Bait gel, giving both ample time to do the job. Neither product is effective at eliminating the colony as advertised.

Great Product
By Tom on 08/04/2010
Use the Advanced along with the "Maxforce Gel" and your Carpenter ants will be gone in 3-4 days. I had a nest next to a tree about 20' from the back of my house. The Carpenter ants had a trail leading across my deck and were going under my siding and into my house. Sprinkled the Advanced around the base of the tree and put several drops of the Maxforce Gel on my deck. Ants were all dead in 3 days. Easy to do yourself instead of paying a professional exterminator.

This stuff works great!
By Jeff on 08/10/2010
It is fairly expensive, but it is a targeted bait used to kill carpenter ants. I was surprised that other ants didn't seem to be attracted to this bait, but the carpenter ants attacked it and took it all inside the nest. Two days later, the huge nest of ants didn't have any movement at all.

So far so good.....
By Monte on 08/13/2010
My exterminator had tried three times to eliminate carpenter ants but they kept coming back. During his last complimentary/no charge house treatment, he tracked down their nests several yards from the house and suggested I try this ant bait. He said this is what he used and even gave me your website! (Now THAT is a professional). I found their nest and treated the yard from the nest to the house by following their little path. He had said it may take several days to see the effect. Sure nuff, their signs at the house became less noticeable. Then it rained... hard. I retreated the yard again and so far, so good. A few signs but a MAJOR improvement. Bet they are gone in a week or so.

Carpenter Ant Bait
By John on 08/20/2010
After a few doses, I did notice a sharp decline in the number of colony members. It took a couple weeks of sporadic dosing, but I believe it did the trick. Advance was recommended to me by an entomologist. I would recommend this to anyone with carpenter ant problems. Kill them before they kill your house. ;)
