This product does offer some pre emergent control in which best results for preventing seed germination are obtained when applied to foliage after emergence or dormancy break. If trying to control pensacola bahiagrass in established Bermudagrass pasture: You will apply after green-up in the spring but before the bahiagrass seedhead formation.
For temperature restrictions when using a MSM herbicide, do not apply to turf under stress from drought, insects, disease, cold temperatures, high temperatures of above 85 -

Read Full Answer »Alligare MSM 60 Herbicide is not specifically labeled for ironweed therefore we cannot say for certain if it would effectively eliminate it. Ironweed is a member of the “Aster” family which Alligare MSM 60 is labeled to control when applied at rates of 1/3 to ½ ounce per acre per the product label. Some alternative recommendations would be Gordon’s Pasture Pro or PastureGard HL which are both labeled for ironweed and intended for smaller applications. For larger coverage areas, GrazonNext would be suggested however this product does have strict haying and manure restrictions that need to be followed. Please refer to the individual product labels for each product to determine which would work best for your applcation. How much MSM would you put in 5 ga. & 25 ga. of water to kill foxtail?AUnfortunately, there is no easy way to measure Alligare MSM 60 Herbicide for small applications. Per the manufacturer, their recommended rate to use for spot applications is 1 oz. per 100 Gal. of water.
