  • Asked by Paul from Philadelphia
    12/12/2018
    Q
My landlord wants to spray Alpine WSG into kitchen cabinets where food and utensils are, is this ok?
I've read the MSDS and I'm not sure this is something that should be applied into cabinets where food and cooking utensils etc will be stored. I've expressed concern to the landlord but they don't believe it's a concern.
    A

The Alpine WSG label states the following: When applying in a residential or commercial structure, DO NOT contaminate food, feed stuffs, or water supply.  DO NOT contaminate food preparation surfaces, kitchen utensils, dishes or food/feed storage containers.  Cover any food/feed contact surfaces and cooking utensils in the treatment area before treatment or thoroughly clean after treatment and before using.

  • Asked by Sridhar from Mahbubnagar, Andhra Pradesh, India L
    05/30/2014
    Q
I need to control ants and spider webs in my house. Please suggest a suitable chemical.
    A
Alpine WSG would do a fantastic job to treat for ants and spiders. Alpine WSG (water soluble granule) is a non-pyrethroid, non-repellent broad spectrum insecticide that uses the active ingredient Dinotefuran. Dinotefuran has been granted Reduced Risk status for public health use by the EPA.  If the ants are a big issue please consider using our Complete Ant Kit as well.

    Q
Which is better/faster for residential indoor ant control - Alpine WSG, Phantom, or Temprid FX?
    A

Temprid FX would have the faster kill over Alpine WSG and Phantom, but Phantom would be the better option since it has a transfer effect to eliminte the entire colony.  Temprid will only kill those that contact a treated area.

  • Asked by Kevin from Spokane, Wa
    03/27/2017
    Q
Does Alpine WSG work on carpet beetles?
If not, do you have another suggestion for a broadcast treatment of a large carpeted area for carpet beetles?
    A

Alpine WSG is not labeled for carpet beetles. You can use Onslaught Insecticide. It is one of the few insecticides that can be applied in a broadcast application over carpeting. It should also be used in cracks and crevices, along baseboards and areas beetles may hide. You will mix 1 oz of Onslaught per 1 gallon of water. NyGuard Plus is an IGR we also recommend when treating for carpet beetles, due to its long lasting residual. You may want to take a look at our article on Carpet Beetle Pest Control for more tips and information on treating and preventing this pest.

    Q
Can Alpine WSG be used as a systemic insecticide?
    A

While Alpine WSG contains the same active ingredient as other products, this formulation is not designed to be used in systemic applications and is only for use as a surface application for the listed pests.  For systemic applications using Dinotefuran you would need Safari or Zylam.

  • Asked by Brian from Lafayette, La
    06/01/2021
    Q
After applying Alpine WSG, why should the room be vacuumed as soon as the application has dried? I was told vacuuming causes flea eggs to open quicker allowing the fleas to contact the treated area and be killed?
    A

When treating indoors for flea, you should do a thorough vacuuming of the home first before any treatments are made so that you can suck up any dead or alive fleas, as well as flea feces and eggs that are present. Remove couch cushions to vacuum underneath, and any other areas the pets frequent in the home. Once thoroughly vacuumed you can apply an insecticide labeled for indoor flea treatments, such as the Alpine WSG, and focus applications to heavily infested carpets, rugs, etc. After the product has had sufficient time to dry, its recommend to start vacuuming every couple of days until your next treatment (14 days later) to help remove any fleas dying from the insecticide, as well as to help stimulate any eggs that have not hatched to be exposed to the product you have put down. Continue this process until the flea infestation is gone.

  • Asked by Robert from Little Egg Harbor
    01/15/2018
    Q
How many milliliters of Alpine WSG do I need to mix in 16 oz of water?
For the B&G 16 oz sprayer.
    A

Alpine WSG is a solid concentrate - a water-soluble granule - so it is measured in grams or ounces rather than milliliters. You will use 10 g, 20 g, or 30 g of Alpine WSG per gallon of water, depending on the pest you are treating. That would break down to 1.25 g, 2.5 g, or 3.75 g per 16 oz of water. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application instructions.

  • Asked by Steve from Mount Dora, Fl
    11/11/2014
    Q
Can Alpine WSG be used as a systemic insecticide on plants?
Because Alpine WSG uses the same active ingredient as some of the best plant insecticides (e.g., Safari), is seems logical that it should be usable in this application. The soluble powder in the sachets appear to be an economical and convenient way for a master gardener/homeowner to get the benefits of using this chemical without having the expense of purchasing a large amount of Safari in liquid form.
    A
Alpine WSG is not labeled for use as a systemic product on plants and is only labeled for structural pest control in and around the outside of residences and commercial areas. We do not know if it would work for the purpose you intend as although it may be the same active ingredient, that does not mean it and its innert ingredients are formulated in a way that is not harmful to the tree if absorbed in the root system or to disperse in the way the Safari is made to work. Depending on the insect you are trying to treat for, there are many other products we recommend for insect control for those who know the Safari name and brand but are looking for a product that is more cost effective but equally as effective at controlling the pests. If you let us know what pest you are trying to control or prevent we can help find an alternative product for you.

  • Asked by Richard from Raymond Maine
    04/07/2014
    Q
How do i make my house inside inhospitable to leaf footed bugs?
I have seen them in my attic and some in my living space. I also have a gold fish a small dog and 2 young kittens.
    A
Unfortunately, there is no way to make your home any less "attractive" to leaf footed bugs because they may come indoors to wait out the winter. However, a preventative or remedial spraying of the attic and outside of the home would help kill any that may enter or try to enter. Alpine WSG is an excellent insecticide that can be used inside your home including the attic as well as outside with minimal toxicity. You can spray the exterior of your home paying close attension to windows, doors, and cracks and crevices.
