Barricade 65 WDG (WDG means Wettable Dispersable Granule) is a pre-emergence herbicide that offers low rate, season-long control of 30 grassy and broadleaf weeds, including crabgrass, goosegrass and Bluegrass (Poa annua), in turf and ornamentals. Its unique, non-staining active ingredient and application flexibility have quickly made Barricade one of the most popular herbicides in the green industry. Barricade WG can be applied in the fall to control crabgrass through the following growing season. Barricade is available in 3 lb. and 10 lb. containers.
As a low cost alternative to Barricade 65 WDG, we recommend Resolute 65 WG, a wettable granule with the same active ingredient Prodiamine (65%), but for much less. Resolute is manufactured by Syngenta the same manufacturer of Barricade.

Barricade WDG is a pre-emergent herbicide that controls susceptible weeds by preventing growth and development of newly germinated weeds. Weed control is most effective when Barricade is activated by at least 0.5 inch of rainfall or irrigation, or shallow incorporation (1-2 inches) before weed seeds germinate and within 14 days following application.
Barricade may be applied as a single application or in sequential applications to control weeds germinating throughout the year. All applications must be made before target weeds germinate because Barricade will not control weeds that have already emerged.
The amount of Barricade to apply depends upon the length of residual weed control desired (the higher the application rate, the longer the control) and the turf species.
Long Residual ControlThe unique formulation of BARRICADE 65WDG offers weed protection that lasts. Even at the lowest rate, BARRICADE offers an average of three months crabgrass control. At the highest rate (1.5 pounds per acre), control extends to 8 months.
This means fewer applications for you. One application in the spring controls crabgrass even in Southern locations. In the cooler climates of the northern U.S., one fall application provides season-long crabgrass control.
BARRICADE is the longest-lasting pre-emergent weed control product on the market. One application takes you through the end of the season, giving you and your workers more time for everything else on your busy schedule.
Barricade 65 WG is labeled for use on the following turf grasses:
Bermudagrass, Bahiagrass, Centipedegrass, Kikuyugrass, Seashore Paspalum, St. Augustinegrass, Tall Fescue (including turf-type), Fine Fescue, Zoysiagrass, Buffalograss, Kentucky Bluegrass, Perennial Ryegrass, Creeping Bentgrass (0.5 inches or more in height).

Read Full Answer »The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Barricade 65 WDG is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You will need to use 0.185-0.55 oz per 1,000 sq ft . To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area, and that is the amount you will want to mix 0.185-.55 oz of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated. You will need to make sure treated areas are irrigated with at least 1/2 inch of water (either by rainfall or by sprinkler) following the application.QI have 1.5 acres, how much Barricade will I need? Typically you apply between 1 and 1.5 lbs of product per acre. The product needs rain to activate and to get deep into the root system where upcoming weeds are trying to germinate. You should either water the product in or apply when it will rain in a few days. The product must have water within 14 days of application, otherwise you will not get very good results.QCan I tank mix Barricade and 2-4-D?ABarricade can be mixed with any 2, 4-D product so long as a surfactant is used in the mix. You will want to thoroughly mix the Barricade in the tank first and then add the surfactant and 2, 4-D.
