How well does Bifen I/T hold up compared to Talstar P?
Does it need to be applied more often?

A

Bifen IT & Talstar P Professional Insecticide are essentially the same product. They have the same active, residual, same dilution rates, just made by different manufacturers.

Is there any benefit to using a product like Bifen I/T along with NyGaurd IGR? Or is it unnecessary?
Based on the product info, I see NyGuard helps prevent the reproduction of insects. Does using a product like BIFEN I/T along with NyGuard make sense? Or is it just overkill?

A

Depending on what you're treating for, we almost always recommend using an IGR such as NyGuard IGR with Bifen IT. If you are just doing prevention there is no need to use one or when treating for pests such as spiders or ants. However, other insects such as mosquitoes, fleas, etc do require one.

Is the product safe to spray around tropical fish tanks? I hate the spiders that have taken over my hatchery.

Bifen IT is extremely toxic to fish if it touches the water. We would advise keeping a safe distance between the tanks & where you're spraying the product. Otherwise, you may consider using EcoVia EC which is safe around aquatic life. Just keep in mind that it will have a lingering smell unlike…

Will Bifen IT kill oleander caterpillars?

Bifen IT is labeled for leaf feeing caterpillars. You can use a product with Bt (Bacillus Thuringiensis) for control of these and other caterpillars. This article also has great information about this pest and its life cycle and management.

Bifen IT will last up to 30 days outdoors, keep in mind a surfactant is not required with this product. You can reapply at 7 day intervals at the lowest rate if needed for heavy pest pressure or once a month at the high rate.

Will Bifen IT work if the temperatures drop below freezing every night?
I have a structure that is having clover mite issues. Bifen I/T works great at controlling them, but due to some odd weather they came a little early this year. The temperatures every night are dropping below freezing, but day time is around 50. If I do a treatment are the temperatures at night going to negatively effect the residual effects of the chemical.

Bifen IT can be applied during the day in temperatures above 50 degrees and will not be effected by colder temperatures at night once dry. At the highest rate (1 oz per gallon) it can last up to 30 days outside.

I have used the recommended aerosols with no results. What is the recommended rate to mix and apply?

Bifen IT is mixed at 1 oz per gallon of water per 1000 sq ft. This really needs to be applied every 30-90 days.

Is Bifen IT a repellent?

A

Bifen IT is considered a repellent because insects can detect it. This does not mean they are truly repelled from the area they can just choose to avoid it as they know something is there. They must contact the treated area to be effected by the product though.

Our pest control company placed Bifen L/P granules near my berry bushes should I be concerned. Should I pull my plants?

Bifen IT cannot be applied near any fruit that will be consumed. While you do not need to pull the plants, you just won't be able to consume the fruit for up to a year.
