No, you will add .32 fl. oz of Bifen XTS per gallon of water. For six gallons, you will use 1.92 fl. oz. of product, fill the reservoir up to 6 with water if the product does not reach that point, attach the hose end sprayer to the hose, set the dial to six and then turn it on and spray. This will treat 6000 square feet.
You do not need to water your lawn after applying this product.
Bifen XTS is labeled as safe on non-bearing fruit and nut trees and would not kill a tree. You should not eat fruit from a tree that was sprayed with Bifen XTS.
Bifen XTS should not harm plants when applied at cooler times of the day. It would be better to use a product like Dominion 2L which will not harm flowers and will be transferred back to the ant colony.
Bifen XTS is not labeled to be used in a fertilizer system like that. Once it is mixed with water it starts to break down pretty quickly so must be applied with a sprayer. We are unaware of the products that could be used.
No, Bifen XTS is not labeled to be used as a systemic inscticide. You would want to use a product like Monterey Once A Year Insect Control II. This would cover several different types of scale, and can be used as a systemic drench.
You want to make sure to use the diluted solution within 24 hours of mixing. The shelf life of the Bifen XTS (if stored at room temperature with no extrem hot or cold weather) is 3-5 years.
According to the label, for Spider Mites on ornamentals, you would use .38 -1.28 ounces per every 10 gallons of water. The Bifen IT would be better for your needs than the Bifen XTS as spider mites are not its main usage and is a much higher rate of the active ingredient, therefore causing you to have to dilute much further down for your needs
Bifen XTS is an insecticide and will only kill insects, not weeds. If you are looking for an herbicide to kill weeds we carry many on our site under the Herbicides and Weed Killers link in the Lawn & Garden tab of our site.
No, Bifen XTS is not labeled to kill bedbugs and is an outdoor only use product. For bedbug control you will want to use one of our Bedbug Kits as these are the most accurate way to eliminate an infestation in a home. Each kit comes with step by step instructions in the box to help make sure you get rid of all of the pests
Bifen XTS is not labeled for botflies or the eggs as they are parasitic insects. For more information on treatment, please contact your local cooperative extension office.
Bifen XTS is not labeled for Squash bugs or for use on any edible plants. We do carry the Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor 10% Permethrin Insecticide that is labeled for squash bugs and will do great job controlling them when used as directed on the product label. This product will kill the adult stages.
Bifen I/T is one of our most popular products for mosquito control. Bifen XTS is basically the same product, just in a higher concentration, and oil-based instead of water-based. For mosquito control you do not need the higher concentration, it is not necessary. The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs. You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees, remembering to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, so if there are any areas of standing water where you are treating, those should be treated as well with BTI Mosquito Dunks or Altosid Pro-G Mosquito Larvicide.
You may also want to look over our Mosquito Control Article if you have a moment.
Either sprayer or mister application would be effective with either product as long as the application is thorough. Oil-based products such as Bifen XTS can stain some surfaces. This is not usually a concern in most areas outside, but you should use caution when treating around the siding of a home. Most oil-based products such as Bifen XTS do have a "chemical" odor but it is not especially strong.
Both Bifen I/T and Bifen XTS can cause moderate skin irritation. Be sure to use adequate skin protection as outlined on the product label, such as wearing gloves and long pants/sleeves to avoid this.
Bifen XTS CANNOT be applied animals. Please see our product guide that lists the products safe for application to dogs for fleas.
Per the label, the dilution rate of Bifen XTS for termites is 0.06% or 0.32 fl. oz. per gallon of water.
Be sure to check out our Termite Guide for tips on how to treat and prevent termites as well.
Bifen XTS has a 3 year shelf life from the date of purchase if stored away from extreme temperatures. If it is diluted with water, the finished solution should be used within 24 hours.
Yes, Bifen XTS and Bifen IT can be used inside of a backpack sprayer.
Bifen XTS is highly toxic to bees and other beneficials that are exposed to direct treatment or residues on blooming crops or weeds. Do not apply Bifen XTS or allow it to drift to crops or weeds on which Bees or other beneficials are actively foraging. Additional information may be obtained from your Cooperative Extension Service.
For the treatment of wood destroying insects we would recommend Boracare instead because it is absorbed by the wood and will last the lifetime of the wood. It is recommended for Boracare to be applied to raw wood, but if it's not, you can inject it into the wood. Be sure to follow the label instructions for proper application. Once it's dry, you can then stain it within 6 weeks of the application, and it would be safe for eating afterwards.
