For the best complete prevention and treatment, we recommend that you use Taurus SC. Please visit our Barrier Treatment page for proper application. Once in the ground, Taurus SC will last for up to 10 years. For either termiticide, you will use 4 gallons of finished solution for every 10 linear feet around the structure you are treating. You can treat any time of year as long as the ground is not frozen, air temperatures are not below freezing, and there is no current precipitation.

The most important thing to remember when treating for mosquitoes is that they hang out on the underside of leaves and shrubs. You should treat all shrubs, bushes and trees, remembering to not only treat the main bush or shrub but also the underside of the leaves. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, so if there are any areas of standing water where you are treating, those should be treated as well with BTI Mosquito Dunks or Altosid Pro-G Mosquito Larvicide.

Oil-based products such as Bifen XTS can stain some surfaces. This is not usually a concern in most areas outside, but you should use caution when treating around the siding of a home. Most oil-based products such as Bifen XTS do have a "chemical" odor but it is not especially strong.
Bifen XTS is not a true repellent that keep mosquitos away, but it will kill those mosquitos that come into contact with a treated surface long enough to receive a lethal dose.
Yes, Bifen XTS can be applied directly to fire ant mounds. According to the product label, it should be applied at 0.06% rate (1/3 fl. oz./1 gallon of water) and you want to sprinkle the mound, using 1-2 gallons of dilution, until it is wet and apply to a 4-foot diameter circle around the mound. When treating mounds larger than 12”, use the higher volume. Do not treat in the heat of the day and for optimum results, apply in cool weather, such as in early morning or late evening hours.

Bifen XTS does have an “aromatic hydrocarbon odor” per the SDS that will dissipate once treated areas are dry. You should only mix what you can use within 24 hours and discard any left over. Do not store in a sprayer as this can damage the sprayer and the product starts to breakdown once mixed with water and would be ineffective.
NyGuard IGR can be sprayed around lawns, on bushes and other surfaces as directed on the label for midges as an insect growth regulator and can be mixed with insecticides such as Bifen XTS.
